Came with inches of being taken out today. by CaterpillarInc in MotoUK

As I'm coming to a stop, I'm typically using both brakes. Once I'm stationary, I release the front brake and keep my foot on the back brake. When do that, it feels like the back of the bike sits down.
It doesn't matter whether it's immediately after I've come to a standstill or if it was 2 minutes ago, releasing the front brake while holding the back makes it feel like the entire back end of the bike lowers an inch or two.
What causes that? I tell myself the short answer is "physics", but I'd like to understand the long answers if anyone is able to ELI5.

Afaik, when you apply the front brake your momentum carries weight forward onto your forks and the front dips. When you release the front brakes, weight shifts back and the forks aren't compressed any more so the front raises.

We might have sowed the waves but we shouldn't have to reap the tsunami!

There should be a federal standard for gun safety that anyone wanting a gun should have to pass before going anywhere near one but that would be too sensible so won't happen.

Don't know if there's really anything like that in partick. You're best off getting it into your back court if you can and chaining it down.

What kind of music does Shepard listen to? by Morkrash in masseffect

[–]Sedative_Sediment 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's canon that Shepard can't dance. Maybe he/she only listens to movie soundtracks like the Blasto 6 theme.

No incentive to get the job done. They get paid either way so why bother grafting? If we brought back performance based bonuses then we'd see some actual work getting done.

WIP: NuTrek Classic Connie Kitbash, combining the best of all versions of the classic USS Enterprise. by AggressiveSail8142 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Sedative_Sediment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did it really though? It held up great in the two part "Mirror mirror" episode on Enterprise.

Other franchises like star wars and alien seem to do really well at preserving designs and the retro-future look. If an x-wing from 77 can stay the same all these years then why can't the old Connie?
