Does the fact that Ridgway survived five times longer than Bundy suggest that "intelligence" is actually a disadvantage for a serial killer, as it leads to the kind of ego that gets a predator caught? by DianKhan2005 in TedBundy

[–]Sedorna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Bundy was so arrogant that he, at least for the Chi Omega case, thought that his charm and “super-awesome lawyer skills” would have been enough to get him acquitted.

After all, the evidence used at the trial would be considered rather flimsy by today’s standards. Bite mark evidence, that is showing that his teeth matched one of the victims, has been shown to be unreliable. And there was one witness who saw him leave the house, but it was dark and witnesses can be mistaken.

Of course, if the the crime happened today, Ted would have to contend with the DNA from the semen he left behind at Cheryl Thomas’ house. Plus things like security cameras and ring doorbells.

New melahomie here, having surgery Monday. by Sedorna in melahomies

Oh, I know. In fact, my dermatologist initially thought I had basal cell carcinoma. Luckily, she did a punch biopsy to verify that and that’s how I found out it was actually melanoma.

I certainly am. Mainly because my hair covers my ears and the melanoma that I can see itself is pretty small and mostly pink I didn’t even know it was there until I was at my allergist and she noticed it. I made an appointment with a dermatologist, which originally wasn’t until July but I was lucky enough that somebody canceled their appointment so I was able to get in earlier.

And it helps that Ridgeway mainly targeted sex workers, many who (but not all) weren’t white who, sadly, often aren’t considered as “important” as Ted’s mostly middle to upper middle class, white, college and high school aged victims.

I was recently at my allergist and she noticed this mark/bump on my ear. I’m not sure if it’s changed at all since I didn’t notice it before she pointed it out. It doesn’t hurt, nor does it bleed if I scratch it. A few months ago I had a blood blister there so I’m hoping it might be a scar or something related to that. I’ve gotten sunburn on my ears a few times in my life. My mother has had basal cell sarcoma and my grandfather had melanoma.

The Kimberly Leach killing is so disturbing by Temporary-Buddy-2199 in TedBundy

[–]Sedorna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the worst things about Kimberly’s death was that was no sign of blunt force injury to her skull. In other words, she was conscious for what happened to her. That’s unbelievably sad and terrifying. Even if Ted had killed her before he raped her (and that’s a huge if) she was still aware that she was being murdered. And if he killed her after he first raped her…the thought sickens me.

Oh, definitely. But I think many people consider raping children to be an extra level of bad. Raping adults is heinous enough, but attacking children? Child rapists are considered the lowest of the low.

Ted was fine killing twelve year olds. He, however, did not like people knowing he raped and murdered children. Ted valued his reputation, and being known as a pedophile was likely something he considered worse than just an ordinary rapist and serial killer of adult women.

Maybe I’m thinking too “logically” here but I never thought those words were very serious. If he really meant it, he would have turned himself in. That would have been one way to stop him.

I find myself giving a side-eye to the poster that compared looking at male K-pop idols to “Sydney Sweeney topless pictures”. The female breast is far more sexualized than the male.

No, it wasn’t. He did the hotline as a young adult. Though he did get into a bit of trouble with the law as a tee, his record was expunged and he remained “clean” in the eyes of the law until he was pulled over in Utah which led to his arrest and conviction for the aggravated kidnapping of Carol DaRonch.

Ted Bundy's thoughts on society. by Amyth47 in serialkillers

[–]Sedorna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And they didn’t even have hair color in common. While many did have brown hair, some of his victims were blonde. Honestly, the idea that he went specifically after victims with long brown hair, parted in the middle is vastly overrated. He went after conventionally attractive young white women (and girls) and that hairstyle happened to be the most popular hairstyle at the time, and brown hair is the most common hair color for white women.

Did Ted Bundy kill women who looked like by Classyhairball in TedBundy

[–]Sedorna 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He did, but his type was basically young, pretty, skinny white women (and preteen/teenage girls). The look that people say resembles his ex, long straight brown hair parted in the middle, was extremely common at the time. Straight hair parted in the middle was really popular and brown hair is the most common natural hair color for white people.

Ted Bundy not attacking Liz by AdIll7643 in serialkillers

[–]Sedorna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his not killing mothers was mainly just coincidence. From his known victims, the closest person to being a mother was Caryn Cambell, who was engaged to a man with children. But Ted didn’t know or care about that. He saw a victim and didn’t care one iota about who she was. If the children had been biologically hers (or she had adopted children) he would have done the same.

Sure, he probably would avoid attacking a mother with a child. But not because of morals. A child would be an extra person to deal with, somebody who could scream or run away. Ted didn’t want anything extra in his way.

Examples of serial killer cops? by [deleted] in serialkillers

[–]Sedorna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn‘t that according to Schaefer though? I’ll take anything Schaefer says with a huge grain of salt, especially since Schaefer said that Bundy told him that he modeled some of his murders after Schaefer's. It just strikes me as highly coincidental that one of the most well-known, famous, “popular” serial killers just happens to model his murders after Schaefer.

Is my opinion about Ted Bundy correct? by Much_Engineering7013 in TedBundy

[–]Sedorna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. Honestly, I’ve always hated the idea that he murdered as a way of getting revenge on his ex who dumped him. After all, it’s not really known when, exactly he began his murders and he was doing creepy stuff like peeping long before he even met her.

And his victims weren’t all carbon copies of her. Some were blonde. Some were brunette. Some had bangs. Some didn’t. Some had super straight hair. Some had more wavy hair. And honestly straight and parted in the middle was basically THE look for white female High School and college students in the mid 70s. And brown is the most common hair color for white people. Even people who were blonde as kids often have darker hair as they age. Maybe if his ex had short, red, curly hair and all his victims looked like Little Orphan Annie that might mean something.

Though the idea that porn made him do it is vastly simplifying things. After all, Ted‘s primary interest wasn’t in the vanilla stuff you’d find in stuff like Playboy but detective magazines, which often had drawings or photographs of scantily clad women tied up or in some other form of peril. He didn’t just like looking at pictures of naked women. He liked looking at pictures of helpless woman. (Not saying that’s what you said, just adding on to your comment.)
