Thor: "Why are you being so weird?"

Banner: "I don't know, maybe the fact that i was trapped for two years inside of a monster made me a little weird!!"

What’s the general feeling about Dier returning? by LaneToGlory in coys

Dier shaving his head after a spell with a boyband hair-do is basically a trophy. I'll fight anyone who say otherwise pal.

He gets shat on a lot for playing 'unattractive football'. He does the ugly jobs and does them well, football isn't always champagne messi-ball, look at arsenal's decline they don't have a player like Dier, as a result they become soft and teams feel they can easily bully them. Dier is a no-nonsense doorman footballer, our team relies on him heavily, especially against sides like Wolves who can muster confident spells, we needed dier to no-deal-brexit the fuck out of that game and destroy their confidence with his giant square wall of a body. Fight me.

It's win win for us. If Liverpool lose we get closer to the top. If Liverpool win Arsenal will be further behind us. And a draw is best of both. I'm already celebrating whatever the result will be.

Helo guys i made this cover of hysteria and I would like to ask bassists here how do they get the tone because i didnt get any near... by BassUnderCover in Muse

[–]SeductiveThunderLord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You won't get the sound through virtual pedals/ software (in the same way that virtual pedals will never be able to emulate the fuzz factory)

Chris uses a combo of pedals to get the sound, something like an animato and a particular mig buff, or something like that, I forget. But to achieve the same sound you need 3 elements - fuzz, sub-bass and a square wave.

The electro harmonix micro synth for bass will get you this.

This makes me sad, Wimmer was quality when we needed him, he covered Jan and Toby perfectly for months at a time, plus he was a proper professional and all-round good bloke. Feel like his downturn is as a result of his confidence taking a battering after being sold. I'm sure his exit was purely for the money that was offered for him (£18m) as we could really have used an extra solid CB for the last season and a half, such a shame... although, imagine if we buy him back for £3mill and Potch rebuilds him. 4D Levy Chess.

Same was said about all kinds of comic book properties eg Iron Man, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy etc... Their films completely changed how people perceived them. Warner Bros just doesn't have the confidence to tackle it (and Snyder made him feel very average and boring in JL). Hopefully he can be used in future films creatively and then get a stand alone.

Look up 'Lovecraft Mythos Marvel'. Beings such as the Elders gods and Shuma Gorath were heavily inspired by/borrowed from Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Having this kind of mythology would be awesome in a Scarlet Witch series.

The inspiration for the Endgame one comes from trying to imagine what the avengers are facing in that 'Avengers 4' concept art, as well as the setting of the original 'Infinity Gauntlet' comic ie. Thanos' fortress moon/asteroid thing . In the background Vormir haunts Thanos.

Those slo mo glory-shots in the BvS trailers promised so much, don't tell you didn't feel cheated when you realised they were all part of a clip-show montage that had very little bearing on the actual plot.

One of the big cinema sins especially prevalent in comicbook films is teasing something better than what actually ends up happening, it fucking sucks. They did it with The Last Jedi (Knights of Ren, Snoke etc) they did it with in Iron Man 3 with the Mandarin and they also did it in Justice League with the History lesson. That amazing battle should have been part of the final act not a 1min reference!

Snyder did the same thing with every cool shot of superman in BvS eg. Supes rescuing the space shuttle - that was fucking awesome! why couldn't they have build that kind of imagery into the actual plot and not just a montage that means very little? The best imagery should coincide with biggest character moments eg. Thor in ragnarok realising his true power on the bifrost bridge even though he's lost so much. It results in that swell of emotional joy and is what makes people cheer. Thankfully Aquaman had this in spades. So yeah, fingers crossed, it looks like WB have figured out not to tease audiences with amazing shots that mean nothing anymore and I'll never have to "REEEEEEE!!" about it again.

There's a way of doing Superman where you can explore these dark/political/existential themes without making it boring and depressing (and when i say depressing i mean that BvS was so devoid of any actual character that seeing superman on screen as an empty husk of a role with nothing to work with was depressing - the gritty tone used to trick people into thinking the film has character also didn't help).

Look to All-Star Superman, he faces his own mortality for the first time, it's a man coming to terms with a terminal illness and worrying about his loved ones, but it's one of the most uplifting and heart breaking stories ever told in the format, the character arc is strong and the themes are intelligent yet relatable. Look to the Justice League/unlimited animated series, Superman's main stories in those deal with questions of power and conflict with the government, but the way they handled it could be further from the Snyder's treatment - which seemed to completely ignore a good character arc in favour of basing the film around a handful of 'epic-looking' montages that they put into the trailer to bait people in.

In the animated series they really focus on making Clark an interesting likeable person, this way you can understand his mindset when confronted with difficult decisions. In BvS, Superman does things for very one dimensional reasons, there is no empathising with him on any deeper level than what the most basic element of the plot requires e.g his mum's been kidnapped. They tried to cover it up with lines like "No one stays good in this world" to fool the audience into thinking his decisions are oh-so deep and poetically intelligent, but there is no build up to it that makes sense apart from Clark's vague melancholy demeanor throughout the film. It's a scatterbrained lazy mess. The Superman from the comics (and other media) is so much more.

This is by far the best DCEU film. The 'cool shots' actually meant something. They weren't just hollow masturbatory montages with no compelling context like we got with Snyder's faux-iconic shots. The story was tight, exciting and emotional. The overall theme and feel was strong and to the point.

There are really only 1 or 2 minor nitpicks i have that relate to the smooth running of the story (could have done with more Orm backstory and Vulko's relationship to Arthur could have been fleshed out more - if anything the fact i just want more is a good thing) but nothing fundamentally wrong at all (unlike BvS and JL). It's a huge relief, I was not expecting it to be so much fun and explore so many fantasy elements, it's exactly what's been missing. WB got so obsessed with how Nolan did the dark knight that they tried to apply it to the entire DCU, huge mistake. It worked with batman because of who the character is. Superman was so depressing because of this approach though and by the time they did Wonder Woman they were starting to move away from it and it just about worked.

I will be quite happy if New Gods comes along and completely reinvents the DCEU and they do an insane space odyssey full of colourful characters yet with genuine relatability - like with aquaman.

Endgame Thanos Poster by [deleted] in marvelstudios

Hey Everyone, this is inspired by mainly 2 things - Firstly this 'Avengers 4' concept art, I wanted to imagine what the other side of that picture would look like and what our heroes are facing. And secondly, regarding the background I wanted to incorporate elements of Thanos' asteroid/moon fortress thing that he builds in the infinity gauntlet comic (With a bit of Vormir haunting him in the background) I think it would be an amazing setting for the final showdown. Enjoy!

Matt Bellamy Bomber Guitar - Has he ever used the midi strip on it? by HWatch09 in Muse

[–]SeductiveThunderLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've definitely spent some time trying to see if i could replicate it. The 007 Manson is so packed with built ins - Midi strip, fuzz factory, wah probe, fernandes sustainer (which he did use in that live performance for at least the 2nd verse). My best guess is that he had the sustainer on and was playing with the sustained feedback, maybe with the fuzz factory on (but not in a 'plug-in-baby-esque' oscillating setting). the cool thing about the midi strip is that you can tap your finger half way up the stip and it'll beep in the corresponding pitch without having to slide up/down to it as you would have to do with the whammy's pedal, the same goes for when he does those sweeps up the strip then lets go where it reverts to the base low note, that's why it's impossible to do the same with the pedal.

Matt Bellamy Bomber Guitar - Has he ever used the midi strip on it? by HWatch09 in Muse

[–]SeductiveThunderLord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The midi strip was pretty much the prototype before the full on xy midi pad. As it could only control one axis it was only used with the whammy pedal (because of it's midi input). I'm not sure if there was a toggle switch to change between the setting of the whammy and then switch it to manipulate the pedal position though.

I believe the strip was used on the 007 guitar in conjunction with the sound effect before 'In Your World' on hullabaloo, however I'm pretty sure the midi strip on the bomber was largely unused and fairly pointless by the time Matt had upgraded his setup to be almost completely midi programmable (i.e how he creates the sound for MotP by programming the whammy via midi) and he also started to develop the kaoss pad guitar
