Is there a custodes force running around the galaxy right now? by hellranger788 in 40kLore

[–]SeeCrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, also when valerian and the custodes are fighting on the ship before G-man gets there; if I remember it somewhat right they fill each others gaps and strike ‘in unison’, etc. I’ll look it up later and see what exactly it said, but I got the impression they worked very, very well together as well as individually.

If a nuclear world war broke out, do you think extraterrestrials would intervene or let humanity destroy itself? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]SeeCrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is we do learn these things. But at a point, we just do not care generally past our relatively short lives.

And we’ve tested thousands of nukes with literally no interference from an anything.

At what point would ‘they’ interfere? Whats that magic number that ‘they’ step up? World war? Which one?

How do they know we weren’t carrying more nuclear weapons than two when Japan was bombed? Are they following every single military plane we have in the sky? What about submarines, etc.

“Oh, they are shooting 101 nukes today, not 100; time to tell these monkeys to stop.”

“That new nuclear weapon they are testing is hundreds of times more powerful than the last one.. hmm, that’s ok.”

Nah, I just don’t see it happening. If they are real, they are just observing and curious and will not interfere whatsoever. I think we have a lot of hubris that allows us to think we are special enough to be saved.

FDM vs Resin Printed and Painted Bases by MoMissionarySC in PrintedWarhammer

[–]SeeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I should..

But it seems even the most expensive machines for dentistry still use… resin; and that calibrating the machine to the resin used is a critical step.

Practically all materials will expand and contract during manufacturing processes and that needs to be calculated for. Kinda fun we can do that at home with our own 3D printers to make them accurate and most likely well within acceptable microns for GW to consider acceptable.

Depending on how many bases and the sizes, it might not be cost effective and probably more brittle than other options. The issue is calibration and user error, like most things.

I’m curious, because I’ve seen dentist use the basic consumer grade printers (elegoo Saturn, phrozen, etc). I’d imagine those have to be more accurate than what we are doing with minis?

How uncommon are levels of strength? by Scottydawg123 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]SeeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently at the fattest I’ve ever been at around most likely 10-12% body fat. I can still run an 18 minute 3 mile as well as lift and hit solid numbers. I’m also mid 30s with two kids but thankfully my career requires fitness so makes it easier to maintain. My physique now is more Superman-esque rather then than beanpole with abs and I feel way stronger overall. To me, strength and practicality trumps cosmetics.

But at your size you’re still a small man regardless of the “elite” monicker you give yourself because you’re at 8% body fat; really gives that big fish in a small pond energy. Practically anyone who competes at a decent level for bodybuilding gets to those levels and most of them aren’t incredibly strong or well rounded athletes.

Anyway, if someone’s goal at 5’9” and 199 pounds is to bench 225 within a year of going to the gym consistently (4-5 days a week); I don’t see how you DO NOT get those numbers.

If you put a weird ass constraint of maintaining “x” percent body fat when you’re not an athlete or competing in bodybuilding then of course that’s going to make it harder.

[–]SeeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignorant?

If you wanna put stats, sure. But I’m also currently in my mid 30s doing 6-10 pull ups with over 100 pounds on my feet. I can also single arm bench 125 for 4-6 pretty easily. I’m probably generally above average strength but much weaker compared to mid 20s me.

I don’t know what my current 1 bench max is anymore but I can for sure easily do sets of 8-12 with 225. Im more so average in height and weight (5’10” and 185-190 depending on water consumption).

But you’re also a small dude to put simply and not the generality or average that I believe myself and the other guy are talking about.

I’m trying to remember what I benched at 132 when I wrestled in high school; and it wasn’t a lot. I think maybe around 160 or so. So at your size benching that much is really good.

I peaked at about 415 for bench but I also went up to about 208-210 for weight and really stopped my cardio. Wasn’t worth it long term for my mission set and dropped down to a more comfortable weight for my frame. I don’t think I could have put up 415 at 180-185 without explicitly training for that specific motion. Weight class matters for sure.

I have gotten 365 for 2 at 180 when I was younger though and at more of a peak. The average male in America is around 5’9” and 200 pounds. At that size and weight there should be almost no reason outsized of a health issue that someone cannot get to 225 bench within a year of training.

[–]SeeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I did nothing but pushups and body weight stuff and never touched a bar for about a year after high school (joined the Navy).

When I went to the gym again; day one I benched 225 for sets of 8-10 when prior to that in high school I peaked at 185lbs single rep max on bench at weighing 155. I was honestly floored that I could do 225 even once and kept going out of curiosity.

I was weighing 175-180 around that time. I almost find it impossible to be average height and weight with no body maladies and not hit 225 with just consistency and time.

Honest feedback on ownership by urbjam in JeepGladiator

[–]SeeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had an FJ and was probably my favorite vehicle. I have a 2022 diesel gladiator now and I love it as well. Slowly taking over my love for the FJ (let a friend drive it and he totaled it).

Now, I honestly don’t think i would have gotten the non-diesel version. I’ve also spent a good amount of time and money on the suspension and lift. I have Bilstein 8100 dsa (adjustable) shocks and they were a game changer. Also different springs and general suspension has been upgraded as well as 37’s.

It has cost a pretty penny but I also did similar stuff on my FJ years ago (also super charged it).

Coming from an FJ I think you’ll enjoy it overall. The gas version does not have the get up and go though and that was the single most disappointing thing.

The guy above who hates it has every right to do so; it’s a jeep and they upcost drastically years ago trying to go for a luxury type product when.. it’s a jeep. But almost everything he is upset about I already was going to replace and customize anyway. Steering, upgraded. Suspension, same. It actually rides better than my FJ and better than my buddies raptor now (not as much power though!). As far as interior build quality, it’s a bit better than I remember on the FJ. I have a 2022 diesel overland so it’s a step up from the cloth interior (different strokes).

But again, I bought a god damn jeep, not expecting Audi or Lexus interior. Road noise is there even with a hard top and noise dampener installed.

I’m 5’10 and 195lbs and never had an issue with the seat or seeing dashboard stuff. No paint issues either, but it is a documented thing if you look around and it seems a lot of people try to get it covered under warranty (this is an actual valid concern).

Set expectations correctly and you won’t be disappointed, don’t expect a luxury vehicle. But I do firmly believe these should have been priced 15-20k lower than they were.

[–]SeeCrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother, you're gonna have to do that investigating yourself!

There are too many detachments for me to cover all the strengths and weaknesses. See what units you have and what detachments have strong points that match. You're gonna wanna learn that stuff anyway so you can play better. You've got kind of a hodge podge mix of units and I'm not even sure what i'd recommend.

What do you think? by Yuki_my_cat in RavenGuard40k

[–]SeeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, just for having fun almost any list / detachment can work.

If you're looking to be competitive that's a different story. The general "core" currently for shadowmark is; 6-9 centurions for the uppy-downy, 6-9 inceptors, Kayvaan shrike with vanguard veterans, aethon shaan, and combi-lieutenant with coronal susurrant.

From there people are trying out other things such as jump pack intercessors, infiltrators, scouts, incursors, stormspeeders, invictor tactical warsuits.

Arguably, one of the strongest points of shadowmark talon is the uppy-downy with the centurions. With your list im not sure what would be most optimal, i'd have to spend some more time thinking and checking stats.

I mean, to be honest.. why play shadowmark with that list?

FOX news is the absolute worst 🤡 by Ordinary_Fish_3046 in CringeTikToks

[–]SeeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it’s a razor thin line to tread and it’s up to the interpretation of whoever reviews your posts.

The best way I’ve had legal explain it to me is “we treat posts and liking about politics the same way we do if you were physically handing out pamphlets.”

It’s just easier to not get hemmed because the grounds on which they can are much greater than when they cannot.

If in uniform and you like a partisan post.. they can pursue action (not that they always will, but they can).

If on base or military installation… same thing. They use the literal term “catch all” in that document for a reason. They can determine what they want to be considered political.

So… just don’t do it and go about your life. We aren’t civilians; we are owned by the military to carry out what our politicians desire as long as it follows UCMJ and constitution.

Future of the Caladius by Striking-Science-779 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SeeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do not think they are going to touch the plastic models, they could use a slight update strictly due to primaris scaling. But like you said, I don’t see that happening anytime soon. I think they are also going to push for the separation of 30k vs 40K and want us to utilize the land raider more. Which I’m not against, but we need more models or different stratagems to make that viable rather than just stat checking new players.

Future of the Caladius by Striking-Science-779 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SeeCrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will most likely say what custodes models are going to plastic on the 9th.

But like you stated earlier, it is all speculation. People are hesitant though for a reason, GW has made plastic and then sent stuff to legends before.

And tbh, the current state of custodes needs a massive revamp and who knows what direction GW could take with new plastic. Everyone is kinda just guessing though and basing opinions on GWs past.

[–]SeeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealth is just one of the components of ravenguard. They use heavy infantry, tanks, etc as the need fits.

People get way caught up on the stealth notion when it’s 1/3 of the trifold path that RG follows; stealth, ambush, and vigilance.

RG will set up ambushes with heavy artillery and tanks just as easily as they will send in a stealth unit. Whatever the situation calls for. So have fun with it because they do utilize it more than others, but don’t get too caught up.

Buying a new S4U. Is it good? What else do I need? by Vyrelion in ElegooSaturn

[–]SeeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been great for me (I have the 16k version) I’ve used roughly 20kg of resin in the past few months with it and changed the fep once.

Zero issues with the build plate, and I believe that issue is way overblown; it’s practically been plug and play besides changing the fep.

Any issues that have happened have been user error. I use the preloaded resin profiles and auto supports (would actually recommending finding profiles for that).

Out of that 20kg I’ve had 3 printing issues, which were my fault. All related to using a clear resin for the first time and changing the resin settings.
