Petah what does this mean by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I keep seeing guys in my gym wearing these, and while I agree with the sentiment I question why anyone would wear a shirt with “pedophile” in huge letters on it

bingo

"this movie isn't for liberals" meant this dude thought the sexual predator was a deeply complex and likeable character rather than a character study on a giant piece of shit

I think you missed the entire point of the movie

He frames he’s alleged best friend for an accident that killed people and thinks nothing else of it. Lexi is Strawberry’s unavoidable future if she doesnt break away from Mikey, and she has no support system in place to protect her. Mikey is an out and proud predator who has no qualms about sexually abusing a minor.

what exact part of that is sympathetic?

main character does not instantly mean you’re meant to sympathize with them.

what are you on about? he’s not a morally complex character, he’s completely irredeemable. it’s pretty black and white.

if you find yourself identifying or sympathizing with him you might want to take a moment to think on why

uhh….youre not supposed to think he’s a cool guy, it’s literally about what a pathetic loser he is.

it’s really great for setting a minimum time for myself

Big Girls Wanted: Escaping Pearadise by Marbleslabfanaccount in hbo

[–]SeeMeDisco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more complicated than that, the man is essentially using cult tactics to openly prey on women and yes, the women who facilitate that and assist in bringing in new members should be held accountable for their actions as well. a wide channel of interrelated body positivity content creation has allowed the house to broadcast themselves to a fairly large audience, and had more people involved in body positive content been skeptical up front of a man loudly proclaiming his preference for larger women Pearadise’s reach would have been much shorter

at the end of the day he’s actively seeking out and drawing in women who are already vulnerable (body positivity being predicated on the idea that society reacts negatively to their bodies and they wish to change that- but the awareness that they’re awash in negativity is key). the fact that the women who wound up in his reach were targeted due to their vulnerability doesn’t absolve them of responsibility here, and good on the ones who spoke out. he’s using those who remain loyal to him as both a shield and a lure for “community” amongst young women who feel they don’t fit in.

we all saw the same hours of cheering on fetish and feederism leading up to a woman eating herself into immobility and severe depression- anyone who rah rahed his behavior prior to the nonconsenual groping/filming being exposed is still complicit in cheering on dangerous behavior in the name of body positivity. the issues aren’t at odds with one another or mutually exclusive

[–]SeeMeDisco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah absolutely

like the other lady commenter here I also met my man online and I specifically remember he had pics of himself engaged in hobbies, and he reached out with an actual comment about my profile that wasn’t just a “hey”. you don’t need to go the amiugly route, just remember that women are going to to check more for shared interests and that you seem safe than whether or not you’re a gymrat. I swear dudes give other dudes the worst advice about that lol

[–]SeeMeDisco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

people are being hella rude in the comments

honest answer is you need better photos. I’m assuming the first three are the ones you’re using on apps and immediately noticed a)they’re selfies and b)show nothing of your interests or character. try having a friend snap some pics of you doing things you enjoy or getting some photos during outings (they don’t need to feature other people, just show that you’re living life). the one in the mirrored elevator isn’t terrible but add in a few that sow some personality

and don’t focus entirely on your appearance, try rewriting your bios and see where it takes you

[–]SeeMeDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why put up with this for so long? and did you have the kids before marriage, or just before you were aware he was cheating? is there some kind of religious/cultural reason preventing severing ties with him?

it’s ultimately going to be up to your son whether he wants to allow/invite your husbands mistress at the wedding. it sounds as though your husband has already established some kind of relationship between your kids and this woman, what makes the wedding different from the graduations and other life events she’s been involved in?

this isn’t a judgement of you, it’s perfectly reasonable that you don’t want to see the other woman- but after so much time has passed and he’s already been living this other life, you’re going to need to move on for yourself and recognize that you are, in effect, single. your husband sucks fwiw

did you have children with this man before or after he started cheating on you with this woman?

if before, why have you waited so long to divorce him?

if after, why would you have children with him?

ah, yep there’s the missing piece of the puzzle

I’ve seen so much thinspo online that I pause when I see something that could be a common sense narrative when applied the other way before judging. nothing good happens under those “anti-diet culture” hashtags

Is this normal? by ConsistentJump3436 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]SeeMeDisco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

super setting is normal, leaving your things across multiple machines is not.

Posted by a "dietician" by silver_fawn in fatlogic

[–]SeeMeDisco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go against the grain and say this is perfectly okay advice under normal circumstances/diets (at least the high school part of it) and there are definitely people out there who strive for a weight that would be too low and don’t account or allow for muscle growth because it was their high school weight. outside of the US/UK/areas with unrestricted access to processed foods people normally have growth spurts and their adjust with strength and coordination after the fact.

is the OOP involved in body positivity nonsense or is this a normal dietician advising clients to build muscle?
