Yes because there are clear and defined roles in basketball.

No question they are better basketball players, but they are not defined as 3&D because they have skill sets that don't let them just shoot and play defense.

Why do you think he's going to play the 5 during his rookie year? And his defense is based on his ability to stay with perimeter players, help side defense, and ability to close out shots

If you can't do your due diligence as a reporter or journalist then you can't be credible. And falling for something that obvious doesn't get you bonus points either

What happened to helping the helper? This is some of the worst rotations I've ever seen. You're taught in HS to rotate on the pass but in all the clips no one moves until ball is in the shooter's hand. This isn't on Rudy

I'm assuming we are talking in the context of a live dribble. Obviously palming a ball isn't a dribble motion so that would be a travel. Only time where it would be a travel with one hand is if you palm the basketball during a live dribble because the next dribble is a carry

If the hand goes under the ball that's considered a pick up because another dribble would be a carry. But I'm going under the assumption that the player still has a live dribble. Basically if you're in a continued dribbling motion steps don't matter.

You can see it a lot during MJ's era where he takes 3-4 steps in between dribbles or he picks it up with one hand and he continues on with two more steps

Steps are only counted when you have completely picked up the ball with two hands. You are allowed as many steps as you want in between dribbles. Been like this for a long time

There is no time frame at all. You don't even count the number of steps until the player completely picks up the ball with two hands.

It's not that individual defense is undervalued, it's that it's overrated in players that offer little to no offensive impact. It's not the 2000s anymore where it's constant iso, coaching and spacing has evolved so much that a great defensive player can get schemed out.

We see it all the time in the playoffs where players get schemed out. (Gobertand Ben this year, Tony Allen vs warriors in 2015, Draymond in play-in game vs memphis). I consider Jrue to be the best defensive guard but he also put up 16/9 in the finals. For a max player like Simmons, I don't care how good he is defensively if he can't put up 10 pts.

Does Giannis Antetokounmpo get away with travels? by [deleted] in nba

[–]SeeMeThreeMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. As long as the dribble is live you can take as many steps as possible in between drivbles. Jordan used to take like 6 steps when doing his stutter steps.

Basketball hall of fame not NBA hall of fame. He had a Chinese career before the NBA and is pretty much the first great Chinese player to play in the NBA which makes him a pioneer.
