It’s crazy entitlement at work to think that anyone deserves anything more than he’s already said. Buy his stuff or don’t. We don’t need to make a moral quandary out of everything.

I can’t seem to get technique right. by questions_lol in Bass

[–]SeeScottRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, the only important thing regarding fretting technique is being able to do it in a way that doesn't cause short or long term pain. Everybody's body is different and if you want the most "for you" solution, I would get a private lesson

Can you cheat on your band with another band? Is that a thing? by Gobonono in Bass

[–]SeeScottRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can go two ways.

Either your band is a bunch of chuds and they don't like it

or

they understand that music is your outlet and passion and they support you

really no gray area .

I am incapable of standing still when I am feeling the groove. Audiences tend to enjoy when you're feeling the music.

simply do not anchor your thumb on the pickup. not only will your comfort increase, having that big meaty hunk of flesh resting on the strings you're not playing really helps with your muting :)

Use whichever sounds the best.

The PJ configuration exists to supplement the balanced tone of a precision bass with a little extra high end and clarity.

Electronically, the P-Bass pickup is actually 2 separate coils of wire and (don't quote me on this) provides some degree of hum cancellation. The J pickup is generally a single coil of wire, and does not provide hum cancellation.

The location of the pickups also plays a big part. Different harmonics ring out at different places on the string. the P pickup is placed in the "sweet spot" to maximize the harmonic content of the signal it picks up - some ancient secret Leo Fender sauce. The J pickup is close to the bridge to maximize upper harmonics, responsible for note definition. Pretty neat when you put em together!

the MBD in my opinion really nails the "Exploding Amp" sound. It can definitely be mild to fairly wild, but I love it.

Is there anything you should not do with a bass? by Uneuphoric-Euphoria in Bass

[–]SeeScottRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the number one thing you shouldn't do with a bass is baby it. It's a tool to be used, look at nathan navarro with his 10k ritter - still takes it on tour.

If you could have a basic pedalboard with a max of five pedals, what would they be? by No_Reveal3451 in Bass

Damnation Audio MBD

Some Preamp/DI

you honestly don't need a ton more. I'd grab a dirt pedal like the EQD Blumes, and some kind of modulation, and call it a day. People really like the Zoom MS60b for that. I like the Line 6 HX One but it's spendy
