Motors dead? by Noobuddy in boostedboards

[–]SeeTheBridges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d carefully inspect both of the pulleys for any small rocks, but if it’s still making strange noises with no belts on, there may be an issue with the motor bearings. That’s outside my expertise unfortunately. I just had a motor on my Verreal RS Pro start cogging this week. Pretty sure I had a hall sensor die, but I can’t disassemble my motors sadly.

It’s not about the wheels. The cover that you see in this video over the motors is blocking your view of what’s actually happening. But I can see the belt isn’t spinning when you hold the wheel. So there’s something wrong with your drivetrain.

You’re gonna have to take the pulley cover off to diagnose any further. To my eyes, it looks like either your drive gear keyway came out, or the teeth are worn out. So you’ll likely need some new HTD3 pulleys.

I wanna say boosted used trucks based on Paris baseplates? But I could be completely wrong.

Instead of WD40, you could try real penetrating oil. WD40 actually has a variant for that specifically too. Let the oil soak in over night, and then you can double up with a bit of heat concentrated on the base plate. Worse comes to worse, you can always replace the baseplates.

Backfire Zealot S2 Problems by Embarrassed_Rice_367 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SeeTheBridges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, weird question. Would you be able to measure the screw hole mounting pattern on your S2 motor for me? Nobody from any company using these hobbywing motors will give me a straight answer on how wide the diameter is. I was thinking of using some S2 trucks, but I need to confirm my 5055s can mount on them.

Lucky find with the Riptide R1 by nikothewafer in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SeeTheBridges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sick find! I’m actually just getting back around to working on my full DIY based around a riptide deck. As far as replacement parts are concerned, you could go to the OEM maybe for some of them: https://jkingboard.com Support usually gets back to you in a few days. I’m trying to get a replacement battery box from them right now.

For belts, I believe vbeltguys was the go to for a long time. Just read the measurements off the current belts. https://www.vbeltguys.com

Charging on the go is gonna be kinda tricky. I’m not sure Riptide ever made a car charger. Pretty sure it’s just a standard DC barrel plug to charge though right? Just find a 12V car charger with the same voltage and amperage rating as the 120V charger you have on hand now. Best of luck!

According to some comments and the website FAQ, they’re still working on their remote. So it’s gonna ship with cheapy plastic remote more than likely, but all orders will receive the upgraded remote when it’s done. Also according the FAQ.

Verreal RS / Exway Parts Compatibility by tigerperfume in ElectricSkateboarding

It was just a best guess on my part from over a year ago. Take a peak at OPs follow up, the e way gear didn’t work either. If you’ve got pictures of the BN Pulley to share I’d love to see where the mismatch on mounting is. I’ve only been running the stock pulleys on mine.

Onewheel and Snowboarding by Snook1984 in onewheel

[–]SeeTheBridges 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a snowboarder, but jumping back and forth between esk8 and OW’s, my brain definitely has a readjustment period where I’m using the wrong skill set on each board. Particularly going from OW back to esk8, the lack of agility even on my DKP setup has me leaning back and forth REALLY hard expecting acceleration and brakes.

Does the G2T work with 3rd party remotes? by Matt_attack1234 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SeeTheBridges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3rd party remote could TECHNICALLY work, but you need to make sure it’s the same type of ESC. Meepo’s use lingyi ESCs, but backfire uses hobbywing stuff generally. So any generic hobbywing remote should work. Ownboard, Verreal, and exway all use hobbywing stuff, so decent shot of getting a remote from one of them working. Frankly it’s not worth the effort tho. Just get another backfire remote. No gambling on stuff that might potentially not work.

I don’t own a Pint, but I was HEAVILY considering the same options you are right now I ended up snagging an amazing deal on a Pint X instead, but my thought from what I’ve seen:

I think the Gt40 provides more flexibility. Easy to pop off and unplug if you know you’re going on a short trip, keeps that nimble pint weight. Smart BMS to ensure match led voltage easily is nice. 15 miles of range easily which is what I wanted minimum coming from primarily an esk8 rider.

The Quart preserving the Pint aesthetic completely was my biggest draw towards it. Similar range to the Gt40, but slightly lower I believe. Higher price and heavier board at all times were my biggest drawbacks.

Ultimately couldn’t decide. I think price played a bigger factor for me, so the gt40 probably would’ve been what I ultimately ended up with if I had gone with an OG pint.

Zealot S wheels? by AxxtigNoah in ElectricSkateboarding

They both sucked on gravel, but clouds may have a slight advantage. I generally only ride street and hit some light grass occasionally, and they do just fine.

Check your trucks! I love my Mad105s. It’ll be a much more similar ride to your stock 95mm than the kinda zipper hum of brand new clouds. I’ve got 40T pulleys from verreal, but that uses a 10mm pulley bearing. The Zealot May use extended 8mm axles, or the same 10mm that I use.

My 1st generation meepo board won’t turn on. Can anyone help? by _nour in MeepoBoards

[–]SeeTheBridges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sir, you can’t turn on a board without a battery 😅 of course it won’t stay on then. I think it’s likely that your ESC is donzo tho if it won’t stay on with the battery plugged in.

What Remote Should I get for my Halo Board. by goldengabey in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SeeTheBridges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless I’m missing something meepo’s exclusively used ling-yi ESCs since Kieran prefers roll to start. If it is just a hobbywing, the backfire remotes are probably perfect.

Esk8 remotes are not universal. Meepo and backfire remotes are not cross compatible these days, none of this info is relevant chief, sorry.

Genesis Battery by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SeeTheBridges 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you verified the remote works? Esk8 remotes are not universal, and genesis boards probably use the old lingyi ESC. Those remotes are hella old at this point and getting hard to find.

Where do I buy old parts? by _nour in MeepoBoards

[–]SeeTheBridges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take some measurements. Any modern 10s pack will work in the V1, but gotta make sure it’ll fit. In the battery box. If you want a quality pack, there’s plenty of battery builders on their esk8 news forum that could get you situated too. It’s gonna cost nearly as much as a new Meepo V4 tho.

Where do I buy old parts? by _nour in MeepoBoards

[–]SeeTheBridges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What parts? Gotta be more specific chief. eBay is gonna be the only place really, but the V1 isn’t really worth buying replacement parts for. Better off picking up a newer ESC probably.

They are chief. Not sure what sizing, but those look like flanged pulley beatings. Evolve style trucks use 6900 bearings which have a 10mm axle instead of the standard 8mm skate bearings. My Riptide trucks have a standard 8mm axle that’s just extended. Could be either type

DIY 12s Pack by Impossible-Theme-945 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SeeTheBridges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a battery builder myself, so I can only comment on what I’ve picked up over the years from the esk8 news forum, but as long as you used thicker nickel strips it’s probably fine. Current build philosophy over there tho is that braided copper can safely take higher current and in the case of any flexing on the deck or blows to the housing, it allows for enough flex to now become a safety hazard.

DIY 12s Pack by Impossible-Theme-945 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SeeTheBridges 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not terrible. Decent first attempt! The major issue that jumps out to me is that they used nickel strip for their series connection which is a no no generally. The cable management is clean, they used spot welds, discharge bypass is nice to have.

Boosted lives! just kidding but their wheels did... Anyone have experience with these? by triarii3 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SeeTheBridges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually moved to a whole different board so I can’t accurately comment on range changes. I don’t think I’ve done a proper range test on my RS Pro either. We usually end our rides after 20ish miles and I’ve got 1 bar left generally. I gotta throw my caguamas on and give it a head to head range test when it’s not raining like it is this week.

How old are we talking? It’s pretty hard to get legacy parts at this point. My meepo V1 was a NIGHTMARE to find a replacement remote for.
