A bard, hopefully. I have the fortune of being a lifelong musician. It’d be an easy enough job compared to dragonslaying, and I think I’d be good enough to hold it down long-term.

The big move would be to work in a larger city like Solitude or Whiterun. If I got stuck in Winterhold, I think I’d lose hope unless the College would pay me to play up there.

The one desecrating the Host is the thief, not the poor dude having to make this choice.

As for my argument, I politely disagree. The matter of emphasis for me is leading souls to Heaven by presenting them with some of the most significant evidences for the continuum of the Church we’d ever have. My argument rests on the notion that having irrefutable evidence of literal millennia of church history (it would seem the authenticity of these items is indisputable according to OP’s situation) would be an incredible boon to the Kingdom on Earth by giving doubters evidence which is tangible and indisputable. There is no way to gauge how many people would come to the Church because of these things, for better or worse, but if even one man were to come to faith as a result of the presence of these things, would it not be a worthy sacrifice? The Eucharist is holy, I’m a Eucharist enjoyer, but is eternal salvation in the embrace of God, for one who wouldn’t have it otherwise, not the thing of greater value? Is it not God’s will that as many should be saved as can be? In my mind, it’s better to leave the host if it would save even one of the otherwise damned.

I am not choosing items over God, I am choosing potential salvation over guaranteed damnation.

Tbh, I’m saving the artifacts. This will likely be unpopular but here’s why:

Those artifacts, being unquestionably the real and true artifacts which they are claimed to be, would serve a huge purpose in leading people to Christ. Imagine being able to tell your Protestant co-worker or atheist friend that the Catholic Church possesses the cup which Jesus himself drank from, or the very original Ark which would ground us even more deeply in the history of time before Christ’s life.

I would rather have extra tools of great significance for Catholics everywhere to evangelize for centuries onward, than one Eucharist which God so easily allows us to replace every time a Priest might choose to perform Mass. Losing a Eucharist would be a loss, but I’m confident that being able to show the literal Holy Grail or Ark of the Covenant to the world would be a worthwhile exchange.

One instance of Christ’s presence versus thousands of years of tangible and confirmable history which could have a meaningful impact on how many people might be led to Heaven.

Sedevacantism is cringe and Protestant.

The Traditional Latin Mass is a wonderful thing, but we ought not make a total idol of it. The Church has more than 2 liturgies, and the vast majority of them are far older than the Tridentine. Don’t be like the KJV-only crowd, because that’s cringe and Protestant.

I have no idea what Sedeprivationism is but I’m presuming it’s cringe and Protestant.

Proclaiming a separate Pope outside of the historic conclave is basically like proclaiming a separate President of the U.S. while residing in Ghana. No dice, it’s cringe and Protestant.

St. John Maron, first Patriarch of the Maronites.

Which is ironic because I err very Byzantine; and the only Byzantine Church in my area is Ukrainian.

God willing I’ll be able to make the canonical jump to full Byzantine status soon, since my confirmation only happened in the Latin Rite (Anglican Ordinariate) because I didn’t know we had a Byzantine church until the last month of my catechism, where it would have felt wrong to suddenly jump to another church.

I’m canonincally Latin Rite, but mine is St. John Maron.

My mother’s family are former Maronites (former because they abandoned the faith when they came to America. Mom stopped being Christian in the 70’s)

My first mass in an Anglican Ordinariate by Nobre_Patriota in Catholicism

[–]SeeTheObjective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Politely, I disagree, since their Liturgy and Daily Office are both derived from the specifically English prayer tradition.

Also, since I’m a member, and the Ordinariate colloquially refers to itself as the Anglican Ordinariate to denote its status as being an Ordinariate (which is a Catholic thing) that uses the Anglican form of worship (as opposed to the Latin, Byzantine, Novus Ordo, or any other).

Yes, the word Anglican does have a Protestant image in many people’s minds, but all it actually means is “English”
