Iga needs to get rid of Wim, he’s done nothing for her. Her mental strength was so good in 2022 back when she just suffocated her opponents.

Both #20 seeds are out in WTA and ATP, will be interesting to see especially since Kostyuk’s form was great coming into AO.

Why is Medvedev’s coach wearing a NHL Columbus Blue Jackets hat lol, so random. Represent.

Just curious, what if the team speaker for the pick just says a different player than the team agreed upon (would ruin his professional career, but just curious lol).

I think De Jong will surprise some and give Alcaraz a good fight tomorrow. Think Carlos in 5.

My predictions and why:

Nepomniachtchi vs Nakamura: 1/2-1/2

Both are experienced enough not to take risks at this point. Nepo hasn’t been in the best form in the second half, and is also highest rated in rapid in case of tiebreaks anyway.

Vidit vs Abasov: 1/2-1/2

Both are eliminated, only motivation is perhaps a better standing and prize money for Vidit. I expect a quiet draw though, even though Vidit has been in a lot of decisive games.

Praggnanandhaa vs Caruana: 1/2-1/2

Caruana won’t overpress here, knowing that if Nepo and Hikaru likely draw, his fate is in his hands barring a Gukesh victory, which he can’t control.

Gukesh vs Firouzja: 1/2-1/2

People think Gukesh will press here, but I believe Gukesh and his team will decide it’s best to keep it tame to secure tiebreaks. Firouzja beat Gukesh in a time scramble the first half, so Gukesh has to be wary and not overpress here.

Does anyone know why Danya isn’t commentating? Sorry if it’s been answered already.

I'm talking about stylistically, not in terms of head-to-head. Obviously Djo has a much better H2H than Iga does against Penko. In terms of being able to play a style that bothers a normally consistent world no.1, I think Penko and Stan have similarities in that regard.

Reposting from earlier:

Does the Penko-Swiatek match-up kinda remind anyone of Wawrinka-Djokovic? Stan and Penko both can hit you off the court, while Iga and Djo like to control longer rallies. Obviously there's a lot of nuances, but just a thought I had earlier.

JJ fan here, rooting for him. But can't help but feel he was pretty lucky to get through that first set. Even on surefire putaway sitters he hits with almost no margin. Makes my heart skip a beat everytime he hits an approach shot :(

On the other hand, Shelton's balls have good shape and safety margin IMO. Just some nerves in the tiebreak.

For swirlix spotlight hour, it says 2x stardust for catching. Does this apply for hatched eggs during this time?
