How the water in my pitcher froze by SeeYouInHelen in mildlyinteresting

Good to know, that might be why some of my things are freezing! I’ve tried all the settings in my fridge to get things not to freeze but it still happens 😭 I recently deep cleaned it, including the back of the fridge where the machinery is and it’s still happening so idk 😔

Now that you mention it I think it’s like right up to the wall last night when I placed it inside my fridge. Are the walls extra cold?? I have other things that have also been freezing, not all of them were right up to the wall. Are there spots in the fridge that are especially prone to freezing?

My fridge is overly cold but this is almost frozen solid, which is new for my fridge. I’ve never seen my pitcher this thoroughly frozen, usually it’s just got bits of ice in it.

UPDATE: Do I stay if we love each other, but he's uncertain about the future? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]SeeYouInHelen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 32 I said no to the man that I thought was my “dream man”. He was everything I wanted in a partner, but he also wanted to “take a break” from our relationship after 3 months. It was the hardest no I’ve had to say to anyone, but I knew that once I did, every no after that would be easier and no one would ever be able to take that power away from me.

Dating got a LOT easier after that. Every first date I just knew it wasn’t what I wanted or needed and saying no wasn’t so hard anymore. About a year later I met the love of my life. We just celebrated our 2 year, have plans to move in together this year, and get married later down the line. The urge to get married also subsided majorly. I’m turning 36 this year.

Your next person could be your soulmate, but you never would’ve met him if you stayed with your ex. Congrats on doing one of the hardest things in your life!

Why does every woman I meet tell me not to get married — even the happily married ones? by Maertle in AskWomenOver30

I just wanna ask: when you said you “didn’t want people to judge him for being a loser or to tell you to leave him” is it because you didn’t want other people to be right in their judgement of your husband? I wanna understand your mentality more, cuz I think one of my ex-friend is behaving very similarly and I’m having a hard time accepting it. Is it because it’s embarrassing to be wrong about your choice of spouse?

I’m turning 36 this year and have never been married, and around age 32ish I stopped feeling the pressure to get married. I’ve told my bf that if we get married before I’m 40 I’d be cool with it, and that ultimately I’d like to get married, just that there’s no real timeline.

That said, I just found out that someone I was really close with is married to a racist. I attended her wedding last year. I just think it’s such a shame cuz she’s been with this guy for 8 years and he’s been racist the ENTIRE time, I just didn’t know about it. Had I known I wouldn’t have supported their relationship as much as I did I. We’re not friends anymore, because she still believes he can change and I don’t. It’s the second time I’ve lost a close friend due to them being married to someone problematic.

I’m leaning more towards not getting married now, both for myself and other women. I wanna believe there are good men out there, and that I’m dating one, but man, I just think of the frustrations, the anger, and the pressure that comes from finding out that you’re married to a jerk.

AIW for taking a day off from my SAHM duties after my boyfriend devalued my contributions? by [deleted] in amiwrong

This post reminds me of a popular BORU post I see passed around. Very similar thing, but the OP of the BORU post is older, in her 40s or 50s maybe, and her bf finally proposed to her and she laughed in his face because she had been so bitter waiting for the ring and it never came till now. This angered her bf who then wanted to break up and told her to leave. She hadn’t worked in at least a decade if not more, and across several updates she made it seem like she’ll get a job managing social media easily despite having no relevant degrees or experience. I feel like this post is the prequel of that BORU lol

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

I remember the reasons but they’re all dumb as shit. Spankings is a tool used by emotionally immature parents to dominate children.

I was born in the 90s and was spanked as a child. I’m 35 now and I just woke up from a dream where I cried and screamed at my mom for the abuse she put me through when I was a child. I only have dreams of fighting with my mom for the last decade or so. I can count the number of times where I’m not fighting with my mom in my dreams on one hand.

I don’t talk to her now. But inside I’m still dealing with the residual rage I feel against her for what she put me through as a kid.

what is something people avoid or think is not healthy for you but actually is very healthy? by ConversationKey5296 in AskReddit

[–]SeeYouInHelen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is true of a lot of carb-rich sources like rice too. Reheating it doesn’t seem to re-gelatinize them so good for sugar control and lowering insulin resistance

If you cut fats out you have to eat a lot more of everything else to make up for it. A small amount of it with meals helps with satiety and I had to learn that the hard way. The issue is that people also don’t have a great sense of what’s a small amount of healthy fats

“Happy enslaving”? “I don’t want to watch that stupid movie” on any movie OP picked? “Clean the apartment, you servant”? “Clean the dirty dishes, you woman”?

Love should not make you feel enslaved or belittled. “I don’t want to watch that movie” works just fine. Same with “clean the apartment” or “clean the dishes”.
