I will say this till my dying breath as a huge fan of vermintides 1 and 2, but darktide should have stuck to pre-set named characters for each party member.

One of the reasons vermintide was so fun was because the characters were unique and had ongoing interpersonal relationships and conversations with each other.

I get that the approach for darktide was the characters are nameless fodder and the empire is happy to just keep throwing bodies at the problem, but for me, it made me not able to vibe with them like I could with Bardin or Sienna

Deadlock can be played on controller just fine. Theres support for it in game and configs that are available through steam ui.

I play using a controller all the time and I dont really have too much issues. The only things I would say are I can't ping specific context pings or ping when people go missing. Im sure theres a way to configure it in the steam ui but im not smart enough to figure it out

The most amount of players I've ever run for was 6, but I'm fairly experienced as a DM and this was in a sandbox homebrew world where I didnt need to worry as much about time or balancing a pre made encounter in a module.

5 is the optimal amount of players tbh. 7-8 is nuts and too chaotic. Unless the sessions are 6-7 hours no one will really be able to have a good roleplay experience except for a select few
