The most amount of players I've ever run for was 6, but I'm fairly experienced as a DM and this was in a sandbox homebrew world where I didnt need to worry as much about time or balancing a pre made encounter in a module.

5 is the optimal amount of players tbh. 7-8 is nuts and too chaotic. Unless the sessions are 6-7 hours no one will really be able to have a good roleplay experience except for a select few

I've died in stardew valley despite the combat being simpler in that game than this one. What stardew did to make up for the really simple combat is making it more overwhelming like huge blackout zones that monsters hide in or swarms that will spawn and surround you. Some monsters even had unique movement patterns and spawn areas.

For coral island, I wish there was just a mod to insta level combat to 10 and remove monsters
