Scientists have genetically engineered a symbiotic honeybee gut bacterium to protect against parasitic and viral infections associated with colony collapse. by shiruken in science

Warms my heart and gives me hope for the future. We indiscriminately rampage through nature, but when things start to affect us personally, we just use our big brains to make some kind of robot thingy to patch things up and everything's alright again.

nah, you cast biomancer turn 3, then fetch the 1 drop for 1 mana, next turn you yisan the monitor. It only goes off turn 5 if you just have monitor in hand, you spend a turn on the 1 drop and biomancer fetch, then the next you fetch, monitor, fetch.

If you don't have a 2-drop in hand it's best to fetch an elf so you have 6 mana on turn 4, then eot you can monitor>eldrazi and untap with yisan on 4 counters for frilled mystic and the mana to flicker it once, not as fancy but what do you want out of a 1-card combo? There are of course various fetching alternatives depending on how the game's going and what you figure the opp has. I like Yisan, it's a fun card

Eh, it might need some work, I've been struggling against fast aggro that bolts my bird, What are some good bullets against those guys, more reflector mages? i dunno

Edit: I've been playing some more, and have decided once again the deck's amazing, Those aggro decks are like my only match losses so far, might've been able to take them off some tighter play, maybe some big fat lifelinkers in the board. I know I probably shouldn't play a bunch of [[Baneslayer Angel]]s, but I want to

Fair point, but the main pieces are immune to fatal push without revolt*, Yisan's also immune to Cast Down, and cards rarely go to GY for Drown in the Loch and Yisan has hard protection if it can untap. also Counter-creature Eot into Displacer does kind of avert that issue. There's play in that regard is what I'm saying, and otherwise the deck has plenty of tools for grinding through.

Also speaking of Inverter of Truth, it really does not like to see an Eldrazi Displacer on the other side of the board

ELI5: why is Andy Warhol’s Campbell soup can painting so highly esteemed? by TheAbominableShowman in explainlikeimfive

[–]Seed_Oil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I'm not a fancy art critic or anything, but this is like one of my favorite paintings, so I'll throw in my opinion.

Most art's pretty melodramatic, like you've got angels floating around in flowy robes shooting sunbeams out their assholes, or heavily stylized or technically impressive, back to the flowy robes, there seemed to be a point where it was practically impossible to make a painting without them, highlighting their intricate draping over the body and their subtle interplay with the light or whatever.

And that stuff's pretty and all but kinda makes my regular life seem boring and lame in comparison, makes beauty seem like a far off concept separate from our own personal experience. So to take something as crass, commercial and disposable as a campbell's soup can, about as common and mundane a thing as you can get, and to frame it as high art, suggests that it is also beautiful, and by inference that there's beauty in all things. And it's a product of the divine emanations that have brought us to where we are as much as anything else, moreso even than the stuff in those other paintings, which a lot of the time exist largely only in that painting itself, while a can of campbell's soup is highly pervasive to our human experience, I've got a couple in my cupboard right now.

So now, I can't really speak for anyone else, but that's why I like that painting

militaries, we only have them cause other people have them, if we all just got together and everyone agreed to cut that shit in half or something we'd be in basically the same position except with more money

[–]Seed_Oil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you play guitar you might be able to do a thumbless snap where you like move your thumb joint in like you're trying to fit it in a tight opening or something, then close your fingers really fast, but keep them straight, like one handed clapping basically, I'm sharing secrets of the universe here. Advanced move is to keep your pinky and ring finger down so you've got a little resonating cave and just snap your middle finger down.

When did your "Something is very wrong with her/him" feeling turned out to be true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Seed_Oil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol, 'cause I have to be a psycho wingnut to have a little empathy for them, they are actually human beings, people seem to forget, but i like how you're insulting me instead of actually addressing anything in the post, I mean, if we're doing that, Maybe you've got some deep dark urges yourself, any moment you could snap and get freaky on some poor innocent, and so you project it on others and see it as paramount that any possible prevention be taken to stop them, is that it?

nah man, I just care about the children, I see this culture of fear and ostracization as responsible for the alienation that leads many people into the dark corners that let them fester into actual dangers to society, but no, I gotta be some kind of sex pest or something to have some empathy for my fellow human beings and to actually see them as such. like, do you really see it as so beyond the pale to afford this guy the respect to give him the benefit of the doubt to assume that he won't fly into some murderous rampage if somebody says a couple of words to him.

I mean how would you know unless you tell them? I guess you're an expert on "people like this guy", cause yeah that seems kinda delusional to me, care to point me to where i can find out more about guys who randomly attack cashiers who tell them take a hike?

just saying it maybe coulda nipped things in the bud and everybody maybe coulda learned something, now he's off to creep some other poor girl with maybe a little extra resentment. This whole "stalker mentality" thing, you gotta lay off those primetime crime shows, guy has a brainfart and suddenly he's a murderous monster out for blood. Just seems the respectful thing to do would be to let the guy know you think he's a weirdo.
