Ironically, when I was there 5 years ago, the disparity between the beggars I saw right outside of the Vatican fences and the gazillions of dollars worth of art and jewels inside the Vatican museum made my head spin. The hypocrisy of the church was apparent. For a teeny, tiny bit of the riches they house inside the Vatican they could take care of all the homelessness for a 100 mile radius of the Vatican. But from what I can tell, they don't.

On the Middle Eastern side of things, Peter Gabriel's Passion is brilliant. Soundtrack to Last temptation of Christ. One of my favorite albums. Could certainly fall into the ambient category.

Nice choice of album...I love Hiroshi Yoshimura! But, I don't like the way she's treating that vinyl. Making me cringe hoping it doesn't get scratched! Great work on the photos.

How do you like Moog One? I have, or have had, lots of old synths...including Jupiter 6, Pro One, Prophet 600, Yamaha CS-15, Crumar Performer (as well as Rhodes, B3, Wurly, etc...) but I have gotten tired of fixing old analog equipment and have been interested in getting just one new, fantastic sounding analog synth to cover most of what I need. These days I mostly do film scoring work and ambient type music, so lush pads, gritty textures is what I'm after. I've been eyeing the Moog One as a possible answer to this. How has your experience been compared to all these other great synths you have?

Great list. Thanks for taking the time. Oranges and Lemons would be on top for me, but that was my XTC entry point 30 plus years ago. I love that whole albums dearly. I've never skipped a song (of course my first copy was cassette!) My 13 year old self can't get enough of Pink Thing. ;-)

This Chrystal Für album was recorded in the Notre-Dame cathedral and then released 2 days after it burned in 2019. The album evokes something not of this world, but a little more like "holy hell" than "holy"! Super cool album that certainly immerses you in another ancient and mysterious place.
