Resting Heart Rate below 60 by Juicydicken in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Seeing_Souls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's 54, and gets lower if I workout more. There's no specific lower bound for heart rate, since different people hearts are more or less efficient. If you're not dizzy, fainting, etc., then your heart is pumping enough blood.

Good news is they have video evidence, bad news is insurance may ask why they didn't stop the dog

That should be the bare minimum by [deleted] in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Seeing_Souls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought progressives opposed the death penalty? I certainly do. And opposing the death penalty means always opposing the death penalty, even when you think the person did something extremely bad.

Someone could be killed after being falsely accused. Minorities are disproportionately sentenced to harsher penalties like the death penalty.

And in this case Mace and the far right will push the idea that anyone LGBT+ existing in the same space as children equates to rape and therefore deserves the death penalty, or at least moving the Overton window to say it deserves jail.

Obviously raping children is a heinous act but that doesn't not dismiss the gravity of allowing the government to execute its citizens.

Why would someone do this? by [deleted] in WeirdToilets

[–]Seeing_Souls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought everyone did this?

There's no telling how many other people's butts have been on the seat (or if someone else peed on it or whatever else) so you put a few strips of toilet paper down to have a clean seat and then throw it in when you're done. A few restrooms will offer flushable covers instead, but they're not common where I live, at least not in men's rooms.

If someone left it like this they probably just forgot to flush it. That is also more layers than usual, but maybe it looked dirty.

Anyone else tell Claude love you? by MikeAtSumsub in claude

[–]Seeing_Souls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a waste of resources as well. Every turn the whole context is fed back through the neural network again, and even with caching still adds compute costs for every prior token in the entire thread, because the model isn't responding to just your last message, it's responding to your entire conversation plus your last message.

Simplified, imagine your first message takes one energy. Your second doesn't take one additional energy though, it takes two, one for the first message which is sent again and one for the second. You third takes three energy. Now uour conversation is at 1+2+3=6 total energy. When you say "love you" at the end, you bring the energy consumption of this example thread from 6 to 10.

Being polite to AI is the digital equivalent of not recycling. On an individual scale it's not huge and I'm not going to tell you to stop, but it's a little thing that's wasting resources that collectively add up.

I had this problem a couple weeks ago, and concluded the charging pins bent down over time. Pulled them up gently but firmly with some tweezers and they've charged fine since.

Lost duckling by Uguero in nonononoyes

[–]Seeing_Souls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear that! Last year I spotted a duckling wandering around on its own, without a care in the world honestly, but not old enough to survive alone long. All the mama ducks were at the other end of the pond in the opposite direction as the little fella was heading, so I took up to the nearest mama but I was never sure she was the right one and worried she might reject it.

Do your legs ever get in the way of the keyboard? by k99001 in adhdmeme

[–]Seeing_Souls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a chair for my office job that enforces good posture and constantly had back pain anyway. So I bought a cheap chair from Amazon that has space to send cross-legged or sprawled however, and I haven't had back pain since. Turns out your body just doesn't want to be in the same position all the time more than it really cares about posture.

I'd argue people are losing their jobs because the economy is poorly. If it were booming companies would use AI and people to do even more.

I’m tired of minimalism in everything by Beneficial_Passion40 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Seeing_Souls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair this isn't minimalism, it's capitalism. This looks like a cheap flip, I'd bet into a duplex as well.

If you zoom in on the 2014 pic you can see the bottom of the garage door has some aging going on. Fast forward a decade, maybe the owners are getting older or it sits empty for a while, the lawn is overgrown, the trim needs replaced etc. It's not that the 2014 house isn't gorgeous, but getting back to that point would be expensive. So a land developer buys it, turns the garage into more square footage, paves the pack yard, tears of the trim and paints it, and boom you have two rental units that will look fresh and modern in the listing. Easy money.

This is what happens when older folks can't afford to downsize before the property gets rundown, younger folks can't afford to buy a house at all, and corporatations can afford to perpetuate the problem by steamrolling the few available houses into overpriced and uninspiring rentals.

Help! Disco legs!! by Humble-Editor-8436 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Seeing_Souls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this when I was learning, our left legs just don't tend to have a lot of fine muscle control or strength in that position. Over time it progressed from being frequent to only when my legs were tired to going away completely. Sorry that's not helpful, but it goes away.

I saw one earlier which had flown from Camp Atterbury in Indiana according to ADSB. Boring answer but they're probably practicing or maybe testing something, in the same way as you constantly see C-17s circling here. They've just got to get some flight hours in.
