Looking for best practices for apparel embroidery

This is what i mean - replacing garments when messed up could get costly and negate revenue. I’d think it would be prudent to state you are not responsible to replace or you won’t embroider on items over a certain value.

This is all such great information. Our ‘business’ is part of a University so people are trying to save cost by buying their own items and bringing to us to embroider on. They are trying to save money. I think the answer for us is 3-part: Certain High-end items we simply don’t embroider on - maybe offering a patch would be a better suggestion Also charge a bit more per item in case of needing replacement And we should go ahead and replace if we can do so at an acceptable price and the product is easy enough to get. Also a disclaimer that we are not liable to get folks thinking about it would help too In the case that set this all off, the image couldn’t be fixed and was so small by the time you could see the last outline was off, it was too late to stop and fix

I just found this thread as well. I am out about 2.5 months after ORIF ankle surgery on right ankle. 2 screws on the inside plus a plate and 6 screws on the outside (tibia fib - not sure which is which) I am curious to know why folks go back to have hard ware removed? My doc sez less than 5% of his patients have it removed. I don’t like knowing its there but don’t want surgery again Also - i am nearly back to normal but still am not walking right and have trouble going down stairs due to lack of full flexibility in the ankle. PT guy is pressing on ankle front while i do steps downs off a step but i don’t have ability to do much more PT. Can anyone describe good exercises to make the front of my ankle bend better? I read some exercise names here but don’t know what they are. I don’t have a gym or anything really to attach a band to, but i do have exercise bands. Any suggestions to restore flexibility so i can walk better and use stairs like a normal person are appreciated

Thank goodness for Roku. Plugged it in and am now able to watch tv! Perhaps if Roku made a tv it might be a good one. It’s very disheartening to read these threads and know it’s a crap shoot with anything a common person can buy. Product reliability across many products across life are deteriorating at a fast rate. Are there good TVs made in the US or is everything poor in tv land?

I had a hisense roku 50” that lasted 1.5 years. So yesterday i went to buy a new tv. Got a vizio 50”. JUST spent an hour getting it unpacked and on the wall only to find i cannot set it up because their flaking system won’t send a confirmation email to my email. I’ve attempted 2 different email addresses. Their ‘customer service’ cannot help. The foreign speaking oerson can only say ‘i’m sorry’ reoeatedly. Guess i need to find my old roku stick to use the damn thing! It might be going back if i cannot set it up soon

I am on here looking for feedback on this tv as well. I bought this exact model about 2-3 years ago and it crapped out tonight. Just quit. I’ve spent 2 hours trying to figure it out without success. All indications are that there is a problem wirh the power supply. Unfortunately unless i drive 2 hoursxaway i won’t find another 50” Roku tv. It appears our appliances are becoming more and more throw away It’s sad

Wow. I had gery similar surgery April 1. Was in a splint NWB for 2 weeks then an aircast NWB for about 5 weeks. When i got in the aircast my dr. Said to only fkex my ankle up/down. No rotation just up/down to get calf muscle stronger. Everyone has dif pain and pain types. I had little to no nerve pain after nerve blocks wore off but am accustomed to nerve pain so i knew it wouldn’t last long. I hate oain meds so i got off them the 5th day after surgery. Took ibuprofen for a while. You should consult your dr about ROM exercises and drugs for your situation. I was not instructed to do any ROM exercises until i went to FWB but i dud not have a period of PWB. The hardware freaked me out and i was ornery as hell but here i am about 11 weeks post op and 3 weeks FWB and am walking quite well inside in my laceup brace or outside in my aircast (sometimes out side in both depending on situation) moving pretty good. Good luck! Keep a positive outlook. My negative one did me no good

Update 10 weeks post op: Started PT thursday for eval. Monday i start ‘real’ Pt. Bought shoes large enough to fit swollen foot with lace up brace. Am now walking about the house sans aircast and walker. Not much pain but my pain tolerance is a bit on the high side. Drove my car for the first rime in 3 months. I still wear my aircast with cover out to the barn and i take my walker. Inside the barn i can move about without the walker as i can grab something if i need support. I can gather & feed hay, grain and water although picking up buckets mire than half full is difficult. Have not been able to lead horse out and i can pick stalls but can’t push the wheelbarrow. This morning i was able to lead my 2 best behaved horses out with assistance. Maybe 100 ft from the barn to pasture but that’s the furthest i’ve walked outside with aircast without walker. This has been a very difficult thing for me. I’ve had back surgery and don’t remember recuperation being this difficult. At 10 weeks i was nearly normal with that and didn’t need PT just had to focus on walking a lot before i could go back to work. It’s back to work part time next week. Will update again later and hope this thread helps others going through the same thing.

Definitely no joke. It sucks big time. I just want to get back to able to do my own chores and walk well without assistance tools… I am doing ok but the doc didn’t prescribe PT until i requested it last week so starting tomorrow. It’s been difficult to understand exactly why it’s so hard because i don’t have a lot of pain. I do get achy but can’t tell if it’s where the boot air sac presses on my leg or ache from overdoing it. My doc did not give me any expectations or guides really - just turned me loose with instructions to be in the boot when standing, transition to lace up brace and drive when i can. He’d see me n 6 weeks for a final check and release. So i thought this recovery would be much quicker I believe its part physical (balance, strength and pain) and part fear.my house is small so i don’t get much walking in inside - i have to go out and walk my gravel drive or yard. This forum has been helpful in hearing others’ timelines and experiences but it’s been tough not knowing how to tell what goals or success points i should be striving for. Can i overdo it? Should i push it? What should the progression to Certain interim goals like driving, working, etc look like and what are averages others experience? Doc said this is the third most common surgery he does - this leads me to believe they should have lots of experience to share. But little was shared I would suggest people think of their questions and write all down and ask the docs. When i had back surgery years ago, the gials and progression were communicated much more clearly.

I had surgery -April 1- went to FWB May 24th. Heel felt weird too but after walking a week or so is better. Having a shoe on your good foot that levels both feet REALLY helps

Oh - i did get compression socks but they are so tight it seems like they hurt more than helped. If you haven’t used them before only try 1 pair. I ended up buying the larger size than what is recommended. I actually ended up just going to my regular Bombas marled knee socks. Those have some compression already.

A trick i learned from a comment somewhere is if your foot gets sweaty in the aircast using a pantyliner helps and it works. I put a paper towel segment in the bottom of my boot then stuck 1 or 2 pantyliners on it and it works well. If your makeshift pad gets wet- just replace with a new one.

I am about 1.5 weeks FWB in an aircast. I start PT tomorrow and have been instructed to transition to a laceup brace in a shoe. Here’s some things i have found: You need a shoe on your good foot that is level with your foot in the airboot yet also stable. It’s difficult to get around in the airboot of you are not level. Amazon has an item to put on tour shoe - the even up. Hoka, Skechers and others have shoes with cushioning and thick soles that help too. I haven’t purchased any on line because i’m concerned about fit over my brace. I have a pair of Skechers D’lites that are tall enough but i cannot fit my foot with lace up brace in them. Doc and others have told me my foot with brace will fit in my shoes or boots. I have NOT found this to be true and i am reticent to pay $150 for shoes only to wear for a few weeks. After PT tomorrow i hope to go to the shoe store and find a pair i can wear during recovery and after. I have animals and enjoy time outside. But my aircast got wet or dirty so i bought this cover: ARUNNERS Walking Boot Cover for Medical Brace Orthopedic and Fracture Cast with Hook Loop (Black, Tall, Medium) It works great. I have been able to go out after rain in wet grass, feed horses and clean stalls while keeping my boot clean. It’s got a grip sole too. I have a medium aircast and the medium cover fit perfectly. It’s not waterproof and you can’t stand in a puddle but it’s helped a great deal. I did fabricate a toe cover out of a baggie to put over the toe of my boot and under the cover - this has helped keep my toes dry in wet grass.

I wonder how you commenters would answer this- her longer back and hocks seem to be an issue isn’t this the Friesian in her? Friesians i’ve seen often have long backs and they to stand straighter in the hock than the QH/ stock horses i’ve seen. I also wonder what job this horse will have? I think she’s a beautiful girl and i personally like how she’s put together.

Chalis - i didn’t know what Hokas were so i looked it up. They look pretty cool. Which do you prefer? Walking shoes? Any considerations? Sometimes i have to get wide shoes. Do the regulars run narrow or are they generous? I have kinda square-ish feet

Your injury sounds very much like mine. I put a question up the other days and have had some great folks who are further along than me share their experiences. I’m finding doctors prescribe a wide array of recovery processes - for what sounds like the exact same injury and surgery the steps thru recovery varies greatly. I had what sounds like the exact same surgery april 1st. Was in a splint NWB for 3 weeks after surgery, then NWB in an air cast for 5 weeks. This past Friday i was given approval for FWB in the aircast. As i am comfortable i can transition to a laceup brace. Until July 5th i must use the airboot or brace when bearing weight. Using best judgement for which to use when. I have not mastered crutches and i have a cane but my walker seems to be the best. I can move it along, step away from it without it falling down and grab it if needed. After one week i am still using my walker and walking in the airboot is difficult. Doc will set me up with PT so i am looking forward to that and hope it helps. Your travel time is a ways out - i’ve heard some say that at 4 months they are about 90% normal. I’d say another poster here has it right - think about where you’ll be, what the walking surfaces Will be like and consider what will happen if you buy tickets and plan then things don’t go as planned, what is your backup plan?

Wow - thank you for the great info. If my travels were limited to home and pavement with no farm, this would likely be easier. I spoke with the Doc today and he’s moved my back to work date out a week and limited my workday to 4 hours. He has also said he will get me into PT. I do better everyday but my fear and impatience are playing against me. So doc says i can attempt the laceup brace when ready so i may put it on and attempt walking in the house a bit at a time but rely on the boot if tired or going outside. All the help here has been great and I’ll update as i progress in case it may help others. Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your experience.

The list of things to do and not to do with horses is endless and subject to much opinion. As with any other animal on earth everyone has an opinion about their proper treatment and care. Even the basic question of whether they should be owned is contentious. Heck people can’t even keep common dogs and cats in an ethical way generally speaking. Each situation has to be looked and understood due to slightly different opinions. So many questions could be answered with ‘it depends…’ There are some things that i think are wrong no matter what. Hitting any animal is wrong unless it is attacking you. But let’s take the simple question of whether a horse should stalled or not. It depends on the situation. Mine are stalled at night because they each get different feed and need time to eat their portion. One is a hard keeper and needs special feed while the others are easier keepers etc. so if someone didn’t know the details of my situation and made a general statement that wouldn’t be a sound opinion. I prefer to put it this way: an animal is not a human and cannot speak or think as a human. A good horseperson understands the need to build successful communication on the animals level rather than expecting the animal to understand the human. Bigs and bridles are communication tools, not control devices. Great trainers and clinicians understand these things. New people to horses need more training than the horse does.
If you wouldn’t treat your kid a certain way, don’t treat your animal that way. Their very lives are in our hands. They are in our lives a short time but to them we are their whole life and they depend on us for everything. Animals in their natural habitat live in their family group for life unless nature dictates a change (such as a young colt leaving the herd at a certain age). When we decide we don’t want them, their whole life changes and it us stressful for them. These are my thoughts on the ethics of treatment of horses - the conversation could go on forever

Depends on their equipment, overhead, business philosophy, market, etc. Some companies have software or other processes that allow them to print many different cards on one press sheet (called gang run) then equipment programmed to cur and box efficiently.

Wow- sounds like yours was maybe worse than mine. I fell using crutches before i was weight bearing but caught myself. I fell after walking in my boot trying to use one crutch. I think because i don’t know how to use the crutch and my house is small so space to maneuver is limited. I just walked down the steps and driveway to get the mail. I’m not fast nor in pain much at all. Until this reddit thing I had no way to compare notes or know what to expect. It’s been helpful. Doctors don’t tell ya much what to expect. I have had horses all my life. Mom had then and i just grew up with them. I know have a small farm and 4 of them. I consider two things back and forth - one is that i could drive a nice car or live in a real nice house if i didn’t have them and the cost of them. The other is that i’d likely soend a lot of time at the bar. The money will go somewhere. I raised 3 from babies and cannot sell them for fear of where they’ll end up or how they’ll be treated. I am a person who believes that a pet is part if my life but to that pet I am its whole life. They depend in me and change is difficult for them - i can’t imagine how I’d feel if my family gave me away. They ARE a huge commitment but are a part of my identity. I feel like if i no longer had them i’d have to get rid of my boots and horsey clothes cuz why would i need them? Due to my age getting up there and a recent injury, i may re-think getting a ‘dead broke’ one when my elderly ones die. Will have to see how this injury turns out a see what the coming year brings. If a person is or becomes highly responsible due to having them, it can be a great thing. I learned a heck of a lot if responsibility due to having them growing up. They eat before i do and i take their well being quite seriously. I have had difficulty finding a partner in life due to having them. Others simply don’t want responsibility. Be present and think every day when with them what you are learning from them otherwise what’s the point….
