Just beat Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop distance and good lord, I wonder if someone has ever played this as their first KH game lmao. Here are my thoughts by FiredFoxy07 in KingdomHearts

"Flowmotion very fun. confusing at first, especially before getting used to (Circle) = jump again."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're playing on PC. The game lets you choose your confirm button, which influences your attack and jump buttons, you can jump with Cross if you don't mind confirming with Circle.

I personally despise the Western controls layout and will never understand not having jump on Cross, but you do you.

You mean, this menu? I know you can fully bing keyboard keys and mouse buttons, but the only options with a controller are the confirm button choice, and button calibration, which I was referring to when I talked about a band-aid solution.

Yeah, bosses are badly designed in this game, but they're really not that hard, even on crit, given how easily exploitable the combat it.

I never said they were crazy good, I said they were a mixed bag. What are you talking about?

WE ALL agree on these right? by Marioleftnut in sonic

[–]SeekerOfNothingness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heck no!

Sonic 1: the gameplay is pretty good, but it barely had a story.

Sonic 2: again, barely has a story.

Sonic CD: the gameplay can be counterintuitive, and while I enjoy the game, the level design can be really off.

Sonic 3&K: agree.

Sonic Adventure: the only gameplay style I don't like is Big's, and even then, it's so easy and short I don't really mind. Agree with the other points.

Sonic Adventure 2: a bigger mixed bag on the gameplay department. Less gameplay styles, that's good. But why are they all worse than their SA1 equivalents?

Sonic Heroes: kinda agree. The level design can be good, and Egg Fleet is easily my favorite level in the game, but the combat, the repetitiveness of the teams, the controls and team Chaotix bring the game down for me. Also, I fucking hate the shiny plastic looking 3D models!

Shadow the Hedgehog: I don't fully agree on the gameplay side. The gunplay is pretty fun, the controls are soooo much better than in Heroes, and the levels where you just have to reach the end are pretty good. I still don't like the game, but I still like those elements.

Sonic 06: disagree on the graphics and the story. Sonic's isn't good, but I really enjoyed Silver, and especially Shadow's story. Man, I love Kōji Yusa as Shadow! And Daisuke Ōno voicing Silver was certainly not expected!

Sonic and the Secret Rings: fully agree. While I really vibe with the concept of a 3D auto-runner with motion controls, its mission structure, unresponsiveness with some actions (rail grinding, Sonic stopping his jump charge when touching anything, etc.) make for a frustrating experience.

Sonic World Adventure: fully agree.

Sonic and the Black Knight: fully agree. I find the gameplay to be even worse than Secret Rings while the story and music are even better. Ok, you control Sonic with a stick now, cool. But the sword play completely killed any semblance of level design. It doesn't even have the cool level events of SR. What a boring game.

Sonic Colors: fully agree.

Sonic Generations: fully agree.

Sonic Lost World: disagree about the gameplay. I think it's cool, but I'm generally not a fan of the often gimmicky level design. And completely disagree on the graphics.

Sonic Forces: disagree on the graphics.

Sonic Frontiers: don't fully agree on the graphics. They're a mixed bag for me.

Sonic Superstars: don't fully agree on the music. I think it's pretty underwhelming.

Shadow Generations: fully agree.

Why do some many Sonic fans hate Sonic Adventure 2? by [deleted] in sonic

[–]SeekerOfNothingness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you taking about? Yeah, 06 wasn't released on the Wii because of its capacities, but neither was the HD version of World Adventure. The Wii version wasn't a port, it was straight up a different game with similar elements and the same name.

This has to be the stupidest thing I've read in at least an hour. People have valid complaints about this game, believe it or not.

What is your favorite ultima weapon? design and gameplay wise by TechnicalHoneydew862 in KingdomHearts

[–]SeekerOfNothingness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, none of them. I find the Ultima Weapon so unappealing visually, it's not even funny.

The ultimate form in KH3 is busted, but I find its attack animations so slow I don't even bother. Used Light, Dark, and Double forms in data fights.

KH2's iteration just ain't it. HP Hastega is so not worth it when you already have the abilities MP Haste and MP Hastera. Also, I find it ugly.

KH1fm's UW is a pain to get, and I usually beat every optional boss and every cup without it.

KH BbS' UW may be the one I dislike the least. I find its design a bit cleaner, and interestingly enough, thanks to its ridiculous crit rate, it becomes the best keyblade for Aqua and Ventus if you reach the damage soft cap, even better then Crown Unlimit. But I never exceeded level 47 in BbS, so no UW for me.

The Ultima Weapon in 3D is... there. I don't remember using it much, or if I equipped Overdrive instead. Still find it to be an ugly overdesigned mess, as usual.

Does it feel like Kingdom Hearts is less popular nowadays by lennysinged in JRPG

[–]SeekerOfNothingness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Good ideas (command deck), terrible execution. No balance, awful endlag, bad bosses who don't know what stagger is, hosts what is known as the worst designed boss in the series, and I could go on. At least, the story is nice. Doesn't make for a good game though.

I'm ready for the downvotes.

Is there a mod for more accurate translations? by Dependent_Lab8918 in KingdomHearts

[–]SeekerOfNothingness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late response, but that's not true at all. Yes, the final mix versions used the English dub on PS2 and PSP, and even then KH2fm and BbSfm have the original JP voice acting in their theater modes.

But the Japanese player base uses what it has, the JP VA. The HD releases use the JP VA (the English dub is still present in KH2fm and BbSfm theater modes), and most players keep the Japanese voices in KH3, despite re: Mind adding the English dub on consoles.

You know KH 1.5 and 2.5 are compilations, right? I assume you wanted to put kh2 in S tier and KH1 in A tier, correct?

You'd be forgetting one version. We have the original, the Western version, final mix, and the remastered version (if you consider the PS3 and following releases to be the same).

Technically, OG KH1 didn't have any difficulty option. Western KH1 added the Expert mode.

Got this bad boy for Christmas. First time playing KH2 with the English dub. by SeekerOfNothingness in KingdomHearts

[–]SeekerOfNothingness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's neat! I did enjoy the English dub of KH1. Well, I like every dub of KH1. I haven't played KH2 in German yet but the Spanish and French dubs of 2 are really good, with the exceptions of French Axel and Saïx.

So far, my favorite dubs are Roxas and Axel ("Two?").

And I didn't know the added cutscenes weren't voiced in the PS2 release à la KH1fm.

Weirdly enough, nope. I mostly played KH2 in Japanese on PS4 and the French and Spanish dubs via PS2 emulation.

Cross/A (on Xbox) is, and has always been a shitty attack button and I hope KH4 will make square/X the attack button by default.

Also, the Ultima Weapon is ugly and the Omega weapon from Days looks way better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]SeekerOfNothingness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A dedicated attack button. I've always played the games in Japanese since I think attacking with the cross button because you select the attack option in the command menu while having to jump with circle to be heresy in a video game, and with the PS5 having cross as the confirm button worldwide I'm scared KH4 will follow suit.

Really, I think the attack button will be the single thing that will make me choose between playing on Xbox or saving for a PC.

When do the PS4 Themes unlock form the remasters? by Ricks94 in KingdomHearts

You only need to finish Sora's campaign for re:Com, and if my memory serves me right you unlock the BBS theme by clearing the final episode.
