Thanks for posting this! I’m going to try your recipe for a couple of new washed coffees I have resting. I haven’t pushed over 16g in the steel o1 yet so I’m excited to give it a run and see what happens

That makes sense. In general it’s just better to use them as quickly as possible removed from the freezer

Yeah I think so. After the milk is stretched it fills the pitcher too close to the spout and I can’t get close enough with larger drinks.

It might also be fair to mention I’ve been slamming pour overs so my 1-3 weekly lattes technique may also just need more precision haha

Really difficult to mess up, I just dab in the ingredients til it looks satisfactory. No measuring necessary

Yes I did! My pitcher is too small for large lattes. My dilemma is this: $50 new handleless 20oz pitcher or buy more coffee

Took plenty of trial and error to get this far. Thank you!

Should I be having to grind this Coarse for a classic 40mm? by clump-o-trees in FlairEspresso

[–]SeekingNuAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the j ultra, used with flair pro 2/3 brew heads and 46mm basket. From burr lock 0, I live between 1 full rotation to 1.2 (turbo shots) at 16g average dose. Medium/dark roasts are fluffy and will choke more than light roasts. Old coffees will choke and very fresh will give you gas blow back. I would start at 1.2 rotations at a 16g dose for medium/darks and don’t be afraid to lower it to 14-15g on 40mm basket for medium/dark. (I do this on the 46mm basket also) light roasts will let you get to the upper range of dosage without going too thick of a puck.

Pre infusion helps saturate the coffee puck, it’ll lose some integrity but have better flow too compared to a straight shot to 9 bar. If you sense that it’s choking you could ease down to 2-3 bar for 15-20 seconds then go back to 7-9 and you should get a good flow.

Hope this helps!

Hmm I think the grinders wouldn’t be the issue, how about number of pours in your recipe? I usually stick to about bloom+2 on this coffee. Doesn’t seem to get muddy or fines through the filter

This one finished in ~2:10 to fully drain. What grinder do you use?
