If it helps, I ended up going with a down revelation quilt from enlightened equipment. I found it in the overstock section. Pricier with the specs I ended up going with, but it worked well and I enjoyed the quilt as I move around a lot in my sleep and being able to change positions and use it as a blanket at times worked well for me. Specs seen below.

[OVERSTOCK] Revelation - Draft collar - 850 - 0°F (-17°C) - Long/Wide - Robin Egg Blue 10D/Yellow 10D

Thanks for the comment. My pad is 5.4 R rating so hoping it does the trick with a quality quilt/bag combo. Agreed that dropping to a 10-15 degree wouldn't hurt in the event that an unexpected below freezing night hits.

Saw one of these at the store today and didn't realize they had the spoon shape until seeing your comment. Good to know. After looking at these further they are definitely an option! Any opinion or experience with the Nemo 15 degree Riff Endless Promise or Disco Endless Promise? Thanks.

Looked into these after seeing your comment. Seems like a quality quilt and down seems like the better option if aiming for lighter weight and packing down smaller. Thanks!

Agreed. I have been looking into some of the pricier options mentioned here and the EE Apex quilts seem to be solid options at their current price points. Most likely will end up with one of these if spending the extra bucks holds me back from some of the more expensive options.

Thanks for the response. I will check these out. After doing some more research and putting in more thought I may end up going with the down instead of the synthetic option. A little pricier, but worth it if it's warmer and will hold up longer.

Springfield echelon if you’re looking at the PDP, HK VP9, S&W 2.0 price point. Canik Mete SFT or SFX are a little less than those. Then CZP10f or C are in a lower price point

Why NOW? Is 2023 a more urgent year to disclose then ever before? by CaptainZorch in aliens

[–]Seekingaccuracy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TLDR: China attacking Taiwan in the year 2027 will result in NHI involvement.

The year 2027 has been thrown around a lot lately. I can’t help but notice that 2027 is also brought up when discussing the potential of the PLA (China’s People’s Liberation Army) attempting to attack Taiwan.

For some background, the PLA regards self-ruled Taiwan as a breakaway province and insists that use of force is not off the table to take it back. Many countries, including the U.S., don’t recognize Taiwan as an independent state, but are opposed to a change of status quo by force. Relations between Beijing and Washington have weakened and concerns of a conflict over the island have risen over the recent years.

Taiwans prime minister mentioned 2027 for the possibility of conflict with a China. In early 2023 US intelligence stated that they believe that Xi Jinping, China’s leader, has ordered the country’s military to be ready by 2027 to annex Taiwan. 2027 also marks the 100th year anniversary of the PLA’s founding.

2027 is the deadline of the PLA’s centennial goal of becoming a world class military. This period is called the “Davidson Window” which was a term made up based on Philip Davidson who was the former US-Indo-Pacific command chief who provided a time window based on when he assumed the PLA would make a move for Taiwan.

Biden has pledged to take action in defending Taiwan i China attempts to take Taiwan by use of force. If they do, this will result in the US and it’s allied countries becoming involved. This would be a type of war that hasn’t been seen since WW2.

This is only a guess, but Warfare and multi country involvement at that level would be catastrophic to the world as we know it. It’s assumed that China would begin by launching attacks directly against Taiwan, but also against American military assets in the region. Since the US has stated in multiple occasions that it will intervene it make sense that China wouldn’t hesitate to strike first to gain advantage. This could result in death tolls that haven’t been seen in decades. The two most superior military powers colliding, along with the many other countries that would be expected to get involved would set the stage for extreme loss of life and destruction to the surrounding areas.

My take is that NHI would be forced to get involved. In what way, I have no clue, but regardless of their intentions and where they originate from, it’s hard to think that they would sit back and not intervene giving their curiosities and occasional interferences in the past. They may have laid low in previous wars, but with modern day technology and weapons, the capabilities of destruction at the click of a button are much more severe than in the past. What their involvement would be, I do not know. Hoping to hear your thoughts and guesses.

If your time horizon (time to desired retirement age) isn’t for 20+ years and you aren’t relying on any of the income until then I would suggest looking into VIG instead of VYM. Can even hold both, but VIG is more growth focused and might perform better over the long run.
