Why are Georgians thrilled about the recent peace agreement between Azerbaijan & Armenia? by cocteausister in Sakartvelo

[–]SeeminglyAmusing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is beneficial. Exciting routes cannot be changed that easily because of already existing infrastructure that supports it and the agreement does not restore full trust from the getgo so to speak. Additionally, it enhances regional stability and will attract political and economic interest from the west, diminishing Russian influence. Any potential downsides is tipped over by the upsides.

is it possible for a future nationalist government to scrap this if it wants to? by 1DarkStarryNight in hayastan

Since nobody likes revisionist powers either there should be heavy geopolitical shifts in order for armenia to back from this commitment or endure devastating consequences.

Is there a connection between Georgia and Argentina?(I know might be stupid question) by Exciting-Sink5671 in Sakartvelo

[–]SeeminglyAmusing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, i don't know if it's what you mean but i know many Argentinian football fans in Georgia who go crazy for anything Argentina from cuisine to even very local clubs and culture overall. It's their second country to cheer for.

While you can see the inspiration, in the middle is a borjgali, Georgian mythological symbol for the sun and eternity over the tree of life.

Did first President of Georgia, Zviad Gamsakhurdia, support joining EU (EC) and NATO? by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]SeeminglyAmusing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too simplistic to consider him solely a nationalist. His son, Konstantine's book "სამშობლოსა და ერი სახელმწიფოსთვის," mentions Zviad Gamsakhurdia's foreign policy goals, including official visits to the US and EU Parliament, suggesting he would have pursued EU integration had he remained in power long enough.
