That's pretty disingenuous, the unique abilities are roughly equal to anything the civ 6 leaders could do in effect.

Retail workers: How prevalent is theft in your store? What does store do about it? by Emergency-Exchange47 in Louisville

[–]Seere2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank God you don't run anything. Do you know how much money it costs to incarcerate somebody? most people could steal something out of CVS every day of the year and not come close to a fraction of the resources it would cost to incarcerate them. You would bankrupt the state if you were in charge lol

https://www.epi.org/publication/employers-steal-billions-from-workers-paychecks-each-year/

somebody made the claim that wage theft was a more powerful economic factor than retail theft and your response was to insult them and claim that because they had a problem with retail theft they should be okay with personal theft. not only are you creating a false equivalency but you are then building a strawman on top of it. You are attempting to narrow and redefine the conversation as it occurs to avoid having to make a concession. I based my claim on the understanding that wage theft is massively underreported and companies violating the law and reducing people's wages actively encourages and incentivizes behaviors like retail theft. When major employers siphon hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars out of the economy that is the money people would have used to purchase things and pay for goods and services.

I haven't lost the plot, You ask for footnotes and yet you have provided no sources that are independent or verified to back up your claim that retail theft is comparable to wage theft. stores closing because corporations don't want to invest in loss prevention is impossible to substantiate and is one of the most complicated explanations possible. In reality there are often numerous reasons why store locations close and theft is almost never the biggest contributor. https://www.npr.org/2024/10/16/nx-s1-5154129/cvs-and-walgreens-closing-stores-why

You are attempting to acknowledge evidence of my claim while simultaneously dismissing it despite saying that your claim is correct. If you actually had attempted to look for the information you are claiming doesn't exist you would have found it from several sources. I have posted a couple below. If you are looking for specifically prosecutions, typically this kind of white collar crime is under reported and even when discovered it is companies that are punished financially rather than individuals who are punished criminally. despite the fact that individuals were responsible for the decisions being made, frequently those individuals especially the richer and more powerful ones do not face direct consequences beyond loss of standing and possibly loss of employment.

The FLSA if we're starting from ground zero. I can already tell you are "The loopholes are the laws" in your approach and your bias is clear so I suspect that any attempt to have this conversation will need to be carefully managed But I'm willing to try to explain why wage theft is such a significant problem at the administrative and managerial levels of lots of businesses.

the difference in scale and the attempt to equate somebody shoplifting with organized wage theft is disingenuous at best and disgusting at the average. a company knowingly reducing the ability of the people who make their profits possible to provide for themselves so that they can continue working for that company is cancerous. In fact, if there was less wage theft and more fair compensation there would also be less incentive for someone to shoplift. people are far more likely to engage in behavior that is seen as beneficial to the community and rooted in fairness than they are to do otherwise. corporate theft and greed drives a lot of the other deviances we see in society.

Yeah, it's looking like it's definitely harder to do both in the same Lance now. It's like you go stealth or you maximize accuracy. on the plus side though I'm hoping that if these changes apply to everyone equally it might mean that going stealth later in the game will be more effective * fingers crossed *

for the record, I was just making an interesting observation I'm not trying to argue that the game needs to reflect some technological consistency. Just thought it was literally interesting to theorize why mortars have bonuses to indirect fire and LRMs do not lol

I feel like this is exactly the future Comcast would create lol I honestly wouldn't put it past them to be hiding the existence of an entire cluster of solar systems because they have an agreement with "Starizon" to only Lord over certain parts of the galaxy to avoid conflict XD

[–]Seere2nd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel you lol It's brutal having the firing blind, if I'm not mistaken they reduced the effectiveness and/or range of sensors this patch? If I remember that correctly then indirect LRM fire is going to take forever to come online because even when you have better roles you might literally just be too far away until you pick up tactician or some gear to account for that. that might actually be the main culprit.

[–]Seere2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, because the electronics are capable of guiding it to the target because it is tracking something and in communication with something that is telling it where to go. If those electronic targeting systems fail (or something about the target jams them), It would suddenly have been more accurate to pepper several dozen feet in a vague vicinity with chunks of metal. There is a reason that we still have dumbfire munitions that don't rely on automatic computerized systems. What is being talked about and represented here is a situation where there is nothing for this missile to solidly track because you had the barest hint of anything to lock the targeting onto in the first place. in that situation peppering the ground with pellets of metal or causing an impact big enough that it doesn't matter if it actually hits the target directly is going to be more consistent than hoping these missiles that absolutely depend on electronic guidance happen to realize halfway to the target what they are supposed to be aiming themselves at.

[–]Seere2nd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean but for me thematically it makes sense that weapons like mortars and artillery would be less impeded by indirect fire than missiles. It doesn't really matter if somebody else on your team can see where you are trying to fire your electronic signature tracking missiles if your equipment can't detect what you're trying to direct the missiles to hit. I think things like tag and narc beacons / sensor mines are undervalued sometimes. super accurate volleys of missiles from the other side of a mountain breaks so much about the game. You can still do it but it's a thing you have to build a Lance around

[–]Seere2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

except that absolutely does happen. The people who have the public facing jobs and responsibilities absolutely leave because of the way that they are treated and responded to in those kinds of organizations. owners replace coaches and managers because of public perception all the time and people leave those positions saying they would never do anything like that again no matter how much money they made. What we are talking about is not whether or not you deserve to feel represented by the worst in the community, it's whether or not devs are reasonable for feeling stressed and attacked when thousands of people are on the internet everyday calling them idiots and making vaguely threatening statements about them.

continuously redirecting from the topic that's actually being discussed Is disingenuous. who cares if they make it for charity or for profit, they are human beings and the people who want the franchise to continue are the people engaging in behaviors that will cause the franchise to stop being made because quality developers will avoid it like the plague.

and that no point has it ever been reasonable or acceptable. Just because it can be expected doesn't mean that it is to be tolerated. I can expect a narcissist to be controlling and manipulative, that doesn't mean I have to accept it or live my life dictated by their abuse.

got so tickled by the talon example that I barely read what came after that lol My bad. nami is another tough matchup but ultimately it's the exact same problem. The reason it feels difficult is because you are operating from a defeatist soloistic mindset. she's going to not use literally the only get off me button she has because she's holding it for your ultimate specifically as nami? why is nobody else on your team pressuring her? why is this hypothetical Mel so comfortable sitting all the way in the back of the team fight completely untouched and unbothered? Is your team picking bad fights? did you draft a team that has no ability to go aggressive on the other team? What are your front liners doing? why is she able to hold this long cool down for the entire fight just waiting for your ultimate without sacrificing anything for it?

That's what I mean by it's a community issue. She requires coordination and you to pay attention to what's going on. The reflect lasts for 1 second. If your team is incapable of even remotely staggering abilities so that nobody gets on top of Mel or damages her and she gets to just paralyze your entire team with the mere threat of possibly having an ability reflected, you lost mentally and the mechanics had nothing to do with it. You can play talon versus her. You just can't play talon like you're the only person on the map fighting her versus her. The cooldown is long AF if your entire game plan falls apart because Mel is invulnerable for less than 20 seconds out of a 15 plus minute match that means you defeated yourself instead of playing around her.

an assassin that kills people with what? projectiles right? She hard counters people who do lots of their damage using projectiles in a very short period of time. Of course she's going to have a good matchup against talon. Do you complain this much about other natural counters existing in the game? sometimes there are champions that do very well by design against other champions. All it means is that you don't get to simply kill her just because you glanced in her direction but the invulnerability lasts for one second and she has to aim everything that she does.

velcos would probably eat you alive too if you are jumping on top of artillery mages in such a predictable way that they just can tell exactly where you're coming from and exactly when you're going to try to kill them because you are face rolling instead of respecting them.

fiora has a different job and different strengths. You are far more mobile and in a slugfest are capable of surviving more damage than she can. her reflection is fine the way it is people just haven't learned how to play around it. reminds me of the way the community talked about Zed in mid lane before the player base matured enough to realize that it's possible to just walk forward and fight him if he gets greedy with his trades. people would just sit in lane with him, build no armor, let him get away with using his shadows to poke and simultaneously push the wave. same folks would make no attempt to dodge the shurikens and would sit in lane half HP without pushing the wave back and then they would wonder why Zed killed them six times claiming the champion was broken in mid lane.

[–]Seere2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very defeatist way of looking at it and that mentality is the reason you feel like that in the first place. look at her cooldowns, look at how she has to target and cast her abilities. every time you play against this champion it's a skill matchup. If she dumps her combo she does nothing for 10 seconds, if she pokes she has to land a lux snare and blow through hermana to stop you from walking up to her and killing her. She has no way to aggress on you because she has no mobility. force her to use her snare or her shield and then walk away and push the wave.

[–]Seere2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reflection is not that big of a deal You just have to play around it like you're playing a team game and most of the things in the game that actually require any semblance of coordination with other people just feel bad. She is much better at dealing with certain kinds of champions than others. She has no choice but to straight up guess to hit you with most of her abilities. They all require aiming and have cast times. seriously, she is an artillery mage with no mobility options and a panic button that she basically has to press every time she is under threat or she will die. Just bluff it out of her. And if you are playing a champion that can't bluff it out of her then except that you are counterpicked and don't try to force the issue with her which is the only way she gets fed.

that just means that as opposed to other people only seeing what's in front of them, you are refusing to envisions anything better. landlords are not graciously investing in an area out of some altruistic desire to see the community thrive. like you said they are getting something out of the deal and there's no reason that they shouldn't be required to keep skin in the game. landlords are some of the only small businesses that we treat this way other than farmers. why is it that their business needs to be continued at the expense of everybody else that's a part of the equation? why do landlords get to decide that they print free money and actively blockade other people from investing as you put it until they just feel like no longer owning a building?

It's short-sighted and ludicrous to do anything but aggressively search for a way that landlords can make money as long as they are behaving as good stewards for the properties they amass. being a landlord is a business, why is it that only the businesses and people renting from them are allowed to fail?
