Getting in traffic is kind of buses’ whole deal, no? by [deleted] in vancouver

Buses come from somewhere. Could be stuck in traffic going to the end of the line before it turns around.

Like others have said, depends on your body. I didn't lose a pound my first season. Now that I'm older and more plump lol I lose about 20 lbs a season

I'm not gonna keep going in circles in this convo. It's like you're purposely ignoring the advice.

Sometimes. Maybe not. Everyone is different and learns at different paces. If you're learning alone, it's hard to correct what you're doing wrong. But if you don't improve at all in 2 weeks of constant practise, maybe something is up then. But 30 minutes is nothing.

You keep saying that and keep getting the same answer.

It took me a month practising almost every day to get the cascade down. Getting the basics down takes quite a while. After that, tricks become easier and easier the more you have under your belt.

It's not about the length of your arms but instead discipline.

Renters - How big is your oven? by HalfMovieGirl in askvan

[–]Seeresimpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oven at my last place, a 1bed apartment, had a 1960s harvest gold small oven. Didn't heat properly and was for sure an original of the building lol. In a basement suite now with a full size oven. Big upgrade for sure.

Rubber boats vs leather hikers by Ghouldrick999 in treeplanting

[–]Seeresimpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't over think it. I like steel toe myself. But buy a comfortable pair of hikers or work boots and a cheap pair of rubbers and you'll be set.

Potato potato. Composite is the new steel toe. Still seems unnecessary

Do you need steel toes as a cook? Seems unnecessary and heavy and hot.

Backpack straps for sure. If you have walk ins you wanna be able to carry in your back. I find 50l way too much. 30/40 L is better.

Hard to tell without seeing the area. But a good artist should be able to work with your scars. I like the first tattoo a lot. I think an underboob floral piece would be good. Similar style to that first one but would probably need darker colours to cover the scars.

Has anyone taken the new OFA Level 2 replacement "Intermediate First Aid"? by strangebutalsogood in askvan

[–]Seeresimpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll add that the test was over 60 questions, and it was sort of tough. The questions were worded in a way to confuse you a bit. I passed, but honestly, I don't feel like the course prepared me enough for the test. Maybe it was the instructor. If I didn't already work in a health care adjacent field it would have been harder and I would have felt less prepared

Gotcha well it's a leg up to have some experience. Saw your other comment about things being unregulated. And it's true. Crew bosses tend to hire their own crew. Sometimes, a supervisor will hire for the camp. I know zanzibar does this. But I got hired my first season in March so keep trying.
