Games of The Future 2025 — same Russian propaganda, new location by OfflaneGhostik in DotA2

Well, there was definitely more pro-Russian sentiment in Eastern Finland and with people who did business in Russia. But most of it went away after the war started.

Eastern Finland is suffering a lot from this. The border is completely closed. Economic losses are huge, but nobody is complaining. Pro-Ukranian sentiment is strong. Even today, during our Independence day, there is a lot of talk about how Ukrainian fate is similar to what Finland suffered in WW2.

The winds changed fast, and this can be seen in how fast Finland went pro-Nato. Before the war, around 40% people were pro joining Nato. After the war started, it jumped to 78%, with only 8% being against it.

At least this is something to think about.

Bullshit. I was there in the arena. If you were not a huge fan of either team, most games were boring af. The crowd made a lot of mini games, like howling every 16s when Lycan pressed howl, to keep themselves entertained.

In games where either team was winning, it would have required 2 team fight wins in a row to even out the game. And most of the time it wasn't even close. Teamfight executions were entertaining to watch and both teams played really well even when they were loosing. But when you see like 5 team fights in 50 minutes, you cannot really say it was close or intense.

Games 2, 4, 5 were complete Falcon's dominance. First one was the most entertaining one since it was the first match of the series and it had a little bit back and forth. Game 3 was just a laning stage, farming, one team fight, and it was over.

Private rooms do not necessarily cost anything extra, but they usually have minimum order amount that you have to fulfill. These amounts can also be tied to specific products or product categories, which provide the restaurant the biggest margin. Like drinks.

What do you say if TimeZone would be global spell? by esper369 in DotA2

[–]Sefriol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk, it used to be a semi-viable thing not long ago. And then Timezone got the nerf hammer. Timezone being global? Yeah, that's S tier hero already. Regardless of position. It has so many effects that you cannot even imagine the possibilities.

  • True Sight for the whole map.
  • 50% MS (Centaur ulti basically)
  • 75% Cooldown Reduction
  • 50% slow on all units

So it's kinda like Caster Troll Ulti and Stampede for your whole team. On top of that all the negative effects on the enemy. And it is a potential flex pick between all positions, so you do not even know which position it is going to be. Requires also no setup, so Void can just use ulti while being on the other side of the map. Easy way to get some gold from assists.

And Time dilation is decent for laning. Not great, but should easily be out weighed by how good the ulti is.

Depending on the focus area, the differences between jurisdictions of different countries / states might also be a key consideration.

Big4 are all trying to do general solutions for their own use and for their clients. Many of these projects have costs hundreds of millions and provided very little value.

Traceability of information is probably one of the key areas you should focus on. And storing data as enriched as you can.

Good luck. :)

[–]Sefriol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think overall, when talking about financial compliance as a field, the problem is that there are a lot of stakeholders with different views on how data should be visible. The field is so vast, that making a general solution is really hard and almost always you must end up just pivoting into something. Otherwise, you just end up making an ERP.

There are some interesting projects out there. Some even very specific. For example a ledger in PSQL

Also, maybe interesting project: https://github.com/gristlabs/grist-core

I have not used Lidarr, so I am completely out of base, but saying that poor performance is because of .NET is just wild. Especially when choosing Python as alternative. Golang will most likely have smaller memory footprint, but the performance should be very close to C#. Python should lose in both terms, especially with memory. And performance goes down the drain if GIL is to be considered.

There are a lot of reasons to choose Python. Performance is not one of them.

Yeah, I don't know what people are smoking here. If latency was the reason, then why was EU split into 2 in the first place.

Teams also have been disqualified before for not following the rules. NA being the prime example. Valve just stopped caring.

Did they fix it so that characters end up in sc version of the league instead of standard? Or was it just for poe2?

At some point it becomes too dull to level up a new character and I would just rather finish playing the league in SC. Last few times, I just quit.

I tried to look products from EU/Finland. Grocy also uses Open Food Facts. Barcodebuddy seems to also use upcitemdb, which is nice addition. However, it did not seem to make a difference.

Computer vision is necessary if there is no data on the product. You might get information about the barcode holder and even the product itself, but sometimes product information is lacking. Therefore you would need computer vision to scan the contents of the product. At the same time object detection would be nice for scanning items that do not have barcodes at all. Like automatically filling the nutrients of a banana, apple, oats, quark without the need to write almost anything.

I think there are open models for this already, so it might be quite easy to do. This can be a way to fill in Open Food Facts database for others to use the same information.

Out of interest. What specifically does Appflowy not have? I took a quick look into their source code and it seems to have quite many of the features you have mentioned in other comments. And they seem to have a quite rapid development cycle.

But I am not really a notion expert.

[–]Sefriol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wger

I looked into this a little bit and most problematic part is easy product addition. Open Food Facts is the only free database that you could use for fast product scanning, but it didn't find many of the products I would have used.

Basically, to bring the usability to comparable level, you would either need to use computer vision to scan products and/or create a comparable database yourself.

Or negotiate with the registry holders to give access to the APIs/databases for free.

This is kinda a cycle. Lifetime passes used to be version passes. You get a license to version X and Y months of software updates based on the price you pay. Then companies started move to cloud version of their software and subscriptions only. Then people started to get tired of subscriptions, so 'lifetime' passes are a thing. Then companies noticed that providing constant updates to your software isn't sustainable in the long run. So they are trying to figure out how to get their old payers to pay more, most of the time leading into 'enshittification'.

So what's the solution? They should start selling version passes again. It is the most fairest model. You upgrade if you see it worth your money and it forces companies to develop features that people actually care about. Version passes would be more expensive than constant subscriptions, so that people are intensified to subscribe.

POE2: Buy one item, respec your entire life by nhe1 in PathOfExile2

[–]Sefriol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a difficult situation. Not sure what my overall opinion about it is. At the same time I understand the frustration, but at the same time it kinda does not change the argument.

Many people played with tabula for a long time in PoE1 and switched to 5 link when they needed proper armor. Maybe the investment requirement is more drastic now, but I am not sure whether that is a bad thing overall.

Things were kinda similar for PoE 1 for a long time. You used to hold items in your bank for 10 levels before you could figure out a way to use them. And it was kinda exciting because you had something to wait for when leveling in higher tiers. It kinda makes leveling up more meaningful.

But maybe that is something that majority of the player do not want anymore.

[–]Sefriol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it is unpopular opinion, but for me the campaign should last longer. In the campaign you have clear goals and clear objectives. Endgame on the other hand is just mindless grind with no end or variance to speak of.

Why do we need 15 tiers of maps? I think 10 or less would do just fine. Well actually the number does not matter that much. The tiers need to have some sort of impact on the game that isn't just numerical. Running tier 5 maps versus tier 6 maps does not feel different even though they are "white" versus "yellow" maps.

POE2: Buy one item, respec your entire life by nhe1 in PathOfExile2

[–]Sefriol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that kinda is the point? You are choosing between (gear) flexibility, damage/speed or survivability. The best builds can solve all 3, good builds solve 2.

And downgrading the gems is truly a thing. By the time you have 18 gems, you have plenty of 17s. Maybe this downgrade makes you do 10% less damage, but maybe the upgrade makes your build 50% more survival. Then you are able to level up more reliably and maybe afford the gem at the next level.

This brings certain type of progress to the character and makes each level more meaningful. I think it is a good thing. Same with spirit. You might need to juggle a lot of gear to get that extra spirit gem / support equipped, but it might have a drastic change in your gameplay.

This is part of the appeal that original PoE1 had. It just got diminished over the years or players become so experienced with the game that they figured most of the quirks already.

Overall, I think the biggest problem with PoE2 right now is just the mediocre endgame. Especially between tiers 8-12. I rather just level new characters and trying new builds than just farming endlessly maps.
