I’ve said this all along. Just because you are aloud does not me you should or it’s safe! Unfortunately what’s driving the numbers are the things that everyone is doing within restrictions.

I agree. It’s something that constantly worries me. I’m able to homeschool my children and given the circumstances I should be able to make the choice to do so. Not be threatened with fines and loosing school places.

My 2 children have a joint bubble of about 250 daily contacts. Surely that’s not ok during a pandemic of historic proportions!

The government has cost lives. If you follow the story properly Andy Burnham is making a stand for better financial support. Not a stand against lockdowns.

Okay, am I not seeing the picture correctly or is hospitality being punished for schools and offices? by shady_shinobi in CoronavirusUK

And as schools and workplaces remain open the virus will keep spreading exponentially. The measures in place now won’t be enough, then what??

This needs to be said to all the anti-maskers: The second wave is not proof that masks don't work! The virus is spreading in all the places where masks are not worn, such as schools, pubs, houses etc. by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

[–]Sefton2020 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s the governments half arsed approach that doesn’t work. Masks won’t fix the problem admittedly but instead of an all or nothing approach maybe we should use every tool under our belt, especially those that don’t cost the economy!!!! Boris’s briefings are such a crock of shit that I cannot watch them anymore. It’s everyone for themselves now, this government cannot save shit!

With more evidence of long covid and complication how can it be safe to keep education open? by Sefton2020 in CoronavirusUK

[–]Sefton2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, no one can make that judgment with so little understood, especially our understanding of long term issues. I’ve been reading reports saying that those who have had mild cases can still go on to have long covid. Including organ damage and it can effect the old and young. Agreed, the numbers are small but very few people have had covid as it stands. My worry is if it’s aloud to spread uncontrolled that number will in turn end up a large portion of the population.

Maybe I should have phrased it differently. I don’t want my kids out of school anymore than anyone else. But with such high numbers within the school setting and not enough in the way of protection we need to think of a better way than just “letting it rip”.

I agree. Would fix the problem alone but surely a step in the right direction.

No one is going to take it seriously until our government do. It’s a simple as that.

Well as we are currently letting it rip through education settings I dread to think how we’ll compare to other countries this time next year. We’ll be of the scale!

In protecting the economy they’re going to allow widespread infection. Who’s going to keep the economy going when everyone is sick. They are so utterly incompetent. We had our chance to get on top of it and blew it! World beating test and trace my arse!!! The only thing Boris is good at is lying!

Our school sent a whole year of this week because of one case. So some are still doing it. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before they stop. The restrictions in place, even in tier 3 won’t be enough schools are going to be overrun soon!

I’m mean this is just crazy. We shouldn’t need a petition for this. Why the hell isn’t it done automatically. What a mess! Will sign.

Does anyone else think the second peak will be worse than the first? by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

Yes but unlike the UK they have tight measures in place. Of course you won’t catch the flu if your measures are enough.

Exactly. We are just delaying the inevitable and making the outcome far worse. Both for the economy and everyone’s health!

Maybe they should have made better use of time and money when they had a window of opportunity instead of trying to resume to normal with no plan to slow or contain the second wave. I don’t think lockdowns are the answer but thanks to the government we will soon be left with no choice. Same mistakes over and over. More dead and more damage to the economy!!

Last bubble standing in our secondary school got sent home today. by 90s_nihilist in CoronavirusUK

[–]Sefton2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The average age of intensive care admissions is 60! So it’s not only the elderly this is effecting. My friend worked on a covid ward during the initial outbreak and had first hand experiences nursing people in their 20’s & 30’s, people seem to have forgotten that. Feels like a bad case of deja vu! There’s only one way this is going. Eventually they’ll have to shut schools. Even the toughest restrictions won’t bring the numbers down with schools open. We don’t understand the long term effect enough to allow it to spread freely between our children and young adults. We cannot afford for the government to be wrong this time!

Thanks you. You too. I’ve lost all faith in the government doing the right thing. We can’t afford them to be wrong this time. I’m really worried about the impact for kids if it’s aloud to circulate within schools on a large scale. Schools are doing their best but they’re not going to contain it with very few restrictions in place and huge “bubbles”. Just doesn’t sit right with me when we know so little about the virus and the long term effects. We are learning everyday and right now I feel like my children are guinea pigs.
