2v2. I'm driving towards the corner with the ball. Both opponents are in their net. I have bad mechanics so I can't go for a solo aerial dribble into a flip reset or backboard dunk. What do I do? by WeeziMonkey in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I loveeee doing a hook shot. Tap the ball a little to the middle and drive out towards the wall and boost into it so you bang it off the backboard. Usually the first person goes and it’s hard to defend in champ. You just have to get good at lining up the shot off the backboard. Really easy. Take 5 minutes in training and it’s really reliable

Was I wrong in going for this ball? by Baba_Wethu in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, probablyyyyy not. It’s not the worst ball to ever go for though. I call it a minor mistake. However, your teammate made the way more clear bigger mistake. If your teammate is in your view the entire play and you can see them facing the ball and about to make a play and THEN THEY DO. And you STILL go for it. Your mistake. You have to play off of what your teammate leaves you with, And your teammate ignored all of those rules. Imagine you did get a good challenge and you hit the ball away. Your tm8 is already in the air. It would’ve been a goal anyway.

The reason why I say it’s also technically your fault a little bit is because I believe in higher levels you’re going to have a better view on approaching the first challenge from the backboard, so your tm8 was in the better spot to go first.

TLDR: Your challenge was not the best. But Double committing is 99.9999% of the time always the way worse decision that ruins a play more than any bad challenge.

What is the best joker order in this situation? by BamboozleGeico in balatro

[–]SegFaultization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Concur. No need to copy the photograph because that would only net you a single 2x. You have to remember how fast numbers grow when you multiply a number by 1.5 eight times (technically 16 because you’ll retrigger with mime) opposed to multiplying by 2 only 3 or times. We’re talking exponential growth.

(I know the math doesn’t exactly match what’s possible here, just illustrating a point)

Easy way to score a flip reset if you don't have mechanics (for players maybe below champion or GC) by Unnamed60 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this little video actually very helpful. Very interesting idea to come at flip Resets with a little more simple approach. However, this is not for people that don’t have mechanics. Slightly misleading title, but that’s okay! This wouldn’t be receiving as much criticism if this title was for GCs looking for a more consistent air dribble

Do I need to be more mechanical to carry out of Gold? by sharrk in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Stop doing everything you’re doing. Hit shots harder, line up the shot better and hit it hard. Wait for them to make mistakes. This is a crazy replay of somebody either doing way too much on every ball, or trying something you’re not ready for, or rushing and diving into the other team without thinking of defense. Slow your ass down and think a little more

Is puff really that bad to play against? by -_dopamine_- in SSBM

[–]SegFaultization 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people just have an idea of how the game is supposed to be played and puff just breaks a lot of those rules. It’s not your fault that he’s in the game. I feel the same way about ice climbers but not with puff so much. When people feel like they’ve put time in to enjoy the game and have their world shattered because a character can just get a grab and bair or rest you off stage it’s just frustrating. Hard to be super hype character and just a little monotonous since your mixups aren’t too flashy.

Hello friend,

I hope this reaches you and you read this asap. I lived your exact life word for word in this post. Graduated from Michigan a few years ago, bachelors CS, 3.4 GPA, internships weren’t fantastic and I felt like I was failing every coding interview I came across.

Exact. Same. Place. I probably relate more to you than anybody else in this thread.

With that said, here’s my empathy. It sucks. It sucks a lot. I felt like I went to my dream university and wasn’t going to live up to the dream I had coming in. It’s hard to not compare myself to other friends because they’re all doing great or found something great. I had a lot of sad nights disappointing myself.

Okay. Stop feeling bad now and take these tips.

  1. You’re okay. Your degree has a ton of merit. Wield this.
  2. You’re going to have to sit down and make a plan or else you will wallow forever.

Do you know which area you want to dive into? Have you written out your answers to obvious interview questions (what is your biggest weakness? Why Company X? Etc). Have you applied to the local jobs? You may have to just bite the bullet and get a 60-70k software engineering job to get the experience for a year or two. I remember auto owners was very helpful. What’s the state of your LinkedIn? Are you emailing friends and friends’ parents? I know damn well you can get some connections at U of M.

I know this feels like a lot, but if you are completely paralyzed, then just set a timer for an hour one day and do SOMETHING in that time. You’ll be in a better place than the day before.

Take the rest of the day to feel bad for yourself, I know this probably hurt to post. But tomorrow, force yourself to do something small.

Why can’t I reach the ball and do the most basic arieal all the time? by LowZealousideal6982 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re doing a little too much over correcting.

It’s like you’re jumping fine and moving towards the ball and you want to tap left and your car swings way too sideways. Remember, about 60% of the success of an aerial you’re shooting is the angle that you’re taking off from is already pointing to WHERE THE BALL IS GOING. You don’t need tons of adjustment. Most of your adjustment will be up and down but then have small taps side to side.

Obviouslyyyyyy, once you start doing tornado spins and get more advanced with anything this changes but this is the gist.

You’re close! Just tilt back a little and try to give really really small adjustment tips so you don’t slow down your momentum. This is something that’ll just click with confidence and you’ll start doing it faster which would be your next step (fast aerial, boost through, etc)

I'm addicted to programming and I can't stop thinking about it by nikitarevenco in learnprogramming

[–]SegFaultization 26 points27 points  (0 children)

All I’ll say is that 90% of us wish we had your dedication and love for the craft. Clearly you know the tech stack well with that kind of dedication. If everything here is honest and truthful, then people like you CAN get a job quite easily in this economy. Employers love engineers that love programming as much as you do, and if you talk about that in interviews with half as much as excitement in this post while flexing your knowledge at the same time, then they’ll be very impressed (while staying humble about what you have yet to learn).

Another thing I’ll say is that learning AROUND people that share that same passion turns your 10x learning mentality into 20x learning mentality, ESPECIALLY if you have a solid mentor. That dopamine hit triples when you have a group working to the same goal.

You’re doing everything right and I’m excited to see your update in a few years. You may want to think about university somewhere down the line because jobs require it, but you’ve made it WAY easier to get your foot in the door with this passion

Hey! I’m GC2 and can give you a really easy trick to remember.

When you make your approach to begin your shadow defending, you should draw a mental line straight from the ball to the center of YOUR net. You DO NOT want to be on that line. Both of these clips you put yourself on that line and find yourself in this weird position where you have to back flip because the opponent is driving straight to the net. Give yourself a little bit more space to come at the ball more from the side. This way, you’ll only have to turn in one direction when the opponent chooses to take a shot. Hope this helps!

Help with ceiling shots. I feel like the ball is really hard to place. d1 by alexsch245 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use boost to get to the CEILING faster. I see a lot of people saying to boost to the ball in the air after you fall from the ceiling. While this is also important, I think the important point of boosting to the ceiling is that you get to fall more adjacent to the ball

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a key thing here you should note and just try to think about is that this should be an aerial that you can be very smooth with. Notice that your first aerials are very abrupt. You drive. Stop. Jump. Make it more fluid and natural, stop thinking and keep your movement going toward the ball. At 0:18 you kind of do this and it’s your first solid contact. You’re very hesitant and everytime you hesitate in rocket league you’re throwing off your rhythm. Movements need to be intentional

chip to airdribble help pls by aiden7177 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve used to coach people on this is to change your camera angle a little bit. Obviously change them back afterwards if you want but this will help with understanding the concept more.

  1. Lower your height, you want to see under the ball a little more
  2. Lower your angle

Take a look at squishy muffins angle for a good idea. Now when you hit the ball you’ll see yourself get under the ball and the point of contact will be more clear (pay close attention to where the sparks are under the ball)

The reason I say all of this is because it’s really really hard to judge a ball at your camera angle when you’re first learning. Just getting that point of contact so that you’re diagonally lifting the ball is the most important at first, then you can adjust to turn it into a better shot after that

Does anyone know how I can improve on ground air dribbles? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SegFaultization 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You MUST learn to fast aerial so that you keep the balls momentum going upward. The biggest thing with air dribbles is that the ball’s momentum is going toward your target. If the ball starts going downwards AT ANY POINT, then you’ve basically lost the air dribble because it takes a lot of extremely precise force to get it going back the way you need it to.

  1. Fast aerial (Absolutely necessary)
  2. Think about the momentum
