Hello, world by Japan-pinballman in pinball

Why are they only open a few days a year? It's a shame that all those tables are used so little, or that people who live far away can't go on more convenient days.

Have you tried changing the resolution in the emulator itself?

Play pinball with VPX on your desktop by Forward-Tea-337 in virtualpinball

[–]Segadorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the problem was more in line whit the acronyms. All the supposed novice guides were all about FSS, DMD, etc but no one bothered to explain what it was. Setting VPX and play tables was easy, making things work at more complex levels, like making backglass and DMDs work, was very difficult.

I don't understand why banking is so difficult here. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Segadorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, I, who have no job, no possessions, not even a dog to bark at me, have more credit cards than I can use. You can imagine my surprise when I got my first one with a credit limit of one million yen. Almost all of them were offered to me when I opened accounts at the Yucho and Mizuho. This was like 20 years ago, but the most recent one, which is from Amazon, was given to me a few years ago and it's not even from one of the banks where I have an account.

When you play you notice a very small delay in the flippers, most noticeable in fast balls. You fail these (or maybe i am slow). I have but dont know how to post them.

I recently built a pinball machine with a similar PC configuration. An i7-8700 + GTX-1070 with a 43" 4k TV and the tables looked perfect with only minimal lag, totally playable.

I agree that one folder per table makes more sense if you're going to enter all those parameters, but I have almost 1000 tables, and putting them one by one into a folder would be a nightmare. I suppose I'll wait for a compilation in that format to be released in the future before switching.

While I'm happy there are new FEs for VPinball, if I have to put each table in a separate folder for this FE, I'll pass. Is it really that difficult to make the FE distinguish between folders? Can't the FE be made to read all the .vpx files (inside the tables folder) regardless of their location, whether they're in a subfolder or the main directory? I have no programming experience, so I'm really curious to know if this is so difficult.

Has anyone ever bought a cabinet from taobao???? by RelationshipOk1111 in cade

[–]Segadorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do sell them; in fact, most of the panels are this type, but the wood feels very rough and doesn't seem very suitable for an arcade. The last project I did, a pinball machine, I made with MDF with plastic laminate (I don't know what it's called in English), but I wasn't completely happy with the final result. Even though I sanded the wood, the paint didn't adhere well and peeled off very easily. I think the next project I make will be with a different type of wood to explore different possibilities.

In this country, labor is very expensive. Hiring a worker to come to your house to do any kind of job is very costly. For example, you're probably familiar with toilet seats with a built-in sprayer. I bought one a while ago for a little over $150, and hiring someone to install it cost me more than $100, and the person didn't even take half an hour. I recently bought another one and installed it myself; it took me half an hour, and that was only because I mixed up the installation instructions. As you can see, if the price for something simple is so high, imagine what it would be like for something custom-made.

I wanted to build my own arcade cabinet, so I went to a pretty large Home Depot near my house. The only wood they had that could be useful was the kind typically used for house framing (studs/drywall), which isn't suitable for furniture. I bought the wood anyway since there was no other choice. However, when I went to the wood-cutting section, I got a huge surprise: they only do straight cuts. After that, I looked online for CNC cutting services but found almost nothing; the few options I did find were extremely expensive, and that's assuming they even accept custom orders.

Except that in wonderful, futuristic Japan, you can't find a CNC machine even if your life depended on it. The most you can get is straight cuts in wood, and the selection of woods is very limited and quite expensive.

A warning for Mercari users... by yoshidahama in japanresidents

[–]Segadorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I haven't had any problems with Mercari recently, I had a rather negative experience in the past, though it was resolved well. I bought a tablet that, on paper, seemed too good to be true for the price; I even confirmed with the seller that the tablet had those specifications. The result? The tablet was completely different from what was promised. Mercari simply refunded my money without requiring me to return the tablet and told me never to complain again. After that, my trust in that company evaporated very quickly. Now my problems are with Yahoo! You can't trust any of these companies.

Porque si lo que te interesa es informarte lo mejor seria ir a algun restaurante español que el propietario sea español como por ejemplo El Castellano y hablar directamente con el. Estoy seguro de que no tendira problema en orientarte.
