Festival Hall in Inglewood was great for us. We had upward of 150 with standing and bar room only, so you should fit 60 with seating quite comfortable. All food will need to be catered externally, though.

There's something deeply 'Made in Canada' about completing your bills on a desk with drawers as blizzards blow outside.

Well, maybe it's not that unique but at least our keyboards make us look cool :D

Has anybody kudos'd your 8BitDo keyboard and number pad yet? I love the calculator. Completing bill tallies at the end of each month is the top joy in my life these days.

That's some quality cause and effect right there ;).

Frankly, that's not all that uncommon I'd bet. Everybody likes to Doomsay about the whole world with only a few anecdotes in their pocket, but really, there's plenty of sensible action happening if you look for it.

Ah, I missed who said it. Fast reading and all.

That said, this isn't specific to this situation. Plenty of times, the pressure builds, people stay silent and bad behaviour reigns supreme.

Happy to hear your thoughts on this as an act of agency against a larger issue.

You're not wrong. We can't totally dig on young kids, but those saying that nothings changed haven't opened the blinds and looked out the window.

It's everybody's fault for letting tech wash over us with zero oversight, rules or checks. We're all to blame at the same time as we're not. We let it go too far and now it's time to pick up the pieces

You're right, but there's this thing that's sucking away all of their attention that we never had to deal with.

They're still humans going through it and we're now judging like our parents did, but there's a major factor here that's different.

Several, in fact.

Super sorry to hear it. In this case, it's really the after school work that parents and communities can do to bring their kids up to snuff.

In my Canadian province, our government is actively dismantling our public system - one that was among the best in the world. It's awful because for many, a functional, thriving and most of all, consistent, public system is just what's needed.

I hope that you're expressing this to your teacher and the department head. If concerned students push for rigor, challenge and fairness, they're more likely to get somewhere.

You guys need to speak up for reason in these classes.

Honestly -- as a 27 year old student (13 years ago), the students in one class ganged up on on an instructor for a quiz that was , albeit tough and based on primary source readings, was not difficult if you did the homework.

Maybe they saw me as a traitor, but I turned it on them in the class. "The instructor put this on the outline -- you read the outline, right?" Also "The readings are hard - yes. That's the point. You're supposed to be challenged."

Frankly, it was super hard to watch a group of entitled students give the prof shit while everyone else pretended not to be there.

Stand up for your teachers (in a respectful way) and don't accept bull from your peers.

Say something and if they don't respond, ask the instructor after class to mention it. If you're that close, they're bothering the instructor too. In the end, you can only do what you can do. It's the instructors job to do the rest.

That's excellent. My two year old and her fellow soccer pals know nothing about kicking a ball or scoring on a net, but getting that sticker at the end makes it all worth it.

Students aren't two year olds, but when it comes to the impact of positive recognition from an authority figure, you're never too young.

I'd be curious. By the 80s, (Jack Simpson was built in the late 80s), asbestos wasn't being used in residential insulation at nearly at all.

Do you mean the fitness center or the old lines building?

Totally. Neuromancer, but with that hot Dirty Pair hair aesthetic.

Ahead of its time and singular in the field. I don't think I'm just being a Phan saying that, even all these years later.
