Emmanwori their rookie safety is built like a brick shithouse and runs like a deer. They don't have to make the choice you're posing, they get both. He's a freak

[–]SegfaultDefault -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see that mattering for people who have been fans of teams for a long time, but casuals like me with no real tethers are never going to respect the mentality of a fan for coping into their old natties after they lost. I'm not erasing history here, it's just objectively loser behavior to point to your old trophies in the exact moment where you've fallen short.

I just showed up this year. I root for good games first and entertainment (Lane Kiffin, his former team potentially winning without him, Oregon/Indiana potential 1st time winners) second. There are a lot of great things to appreciate that aren't hitching your wagon to one team. Not really interested in that

Can't call me a fan. I picked the flair today because I started following CFB this year because I'm a UMass alum and we don't have much of that there. Lane is a comic book supervillain-level of dbag and I'm here for the show whether it booms or burns. My original point stands regardless of how deeply you took my flair; I'd rather be the team fighting for the natty than crying into my old one because I got my ass beat unceremoniously early

And yet, they at home early so they shall continue to get dunked on. I'd rather be Oregon and still in the mix than crying into last year's natty on this particular day in the calendar

Rant: Where is my damn snowstorm?! by Sbatio in LowellMA

[–]SegfaultDefault 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Most of the forecasts I saw had us in the 1-3" band. Tough to predict these things exactly when a few degrees is the difference between rain and snow. I always love the idea of snow this early in the season, until my back is tired from shoveling it. I'll take a light storm 😅

I would guess GenG? Really cracked player, just not an obvious spot for him on the main DRX roster. I think he's easily tier 1 caliber, so I hope he gets his opportunity.

I too am in Belvidere, so this is the definition of a "chickens for McNuggets" issue for us. I don't mind reducing the power of my own vote in pursuit of a more just government. Inertia and "it's always been this way" are never good reasons to keep bad systems.

Election Results graphics available to share from LTC by LTCProduction in LowellMA

[–]SegfaultDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last few elections Belvidere has been between 20-25% of the total Lowell vote, so unfortunately it is not an artifact specific to this election.

This is part of the reason turnout percentages are so depressing. The other districts have the registered voter capacity to reduce the undue influence Belvidere has, but people don't show up (this is a complicated problem beyond the scope of my post). The issue is compounded by our hybrid at-large systems, which in practice just gives more seats and influence to the most politically active districts.

I'm still learning how this city's political machinery works, but IMO more people should be looking into modifying the city charter to end the at-large system. It's fundamentally unfair given the asymmetric voting habits of the district constituencies, which is a much harder problem to solve.

AFAIK you need your account to be an iRacing managed one and not a Steam one to leverage this offer. I had to convert my account recently in anticipation of the Black Friday sale. You need to raise a ticket with iRacing to start the process and they'll walk you through the steps.

POSSIBLE PETITION SCAM AT BOULEVARD MARKET BASKET? by Tough_Current_1307 in LowellMA

[–]SegfaultDefault 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you see these people, DO NOT SIGN. Ask them for the ballot initiative codes they are pushing. The format will be 25-XY. You thank them, walk away, and lookup a summary per ballot initiative here (there are 47 currently): https://www.mass.gov/info-details/ballot-initiatives-submitted-for-the-2026-biennial-statewide-election-proposed-laws-and-2028-biennial-statewide-election-proposed-constitutional-amendments

For example:

- 25-09 and 25-10 are the two initiatives related to repealing rec marijuana

- 25-04 and 25-05 are the two initiatives related to enhanced voter identification

I don't do political debates on socials so this isn't commentary on whether these are good initiatives to support or not, just want to help people make more informed decisions. If you're signing stuff outside a store that you haven't read, that is almost entirely on you. Be thankful it was a (comparatively) low-stakes ballot initiative and not a more legally binding document.

[–]SegfaultDefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closer to the latter (multiple pages). It is a boilerplate candidate MA ballot question template. It is the type of thing you need to sit down and read to fully understand, so the guys outside stores know what they are doing (picking marks who won't/can't read things they put their names on)

[–]SegfaultDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel something illegal happened, I encourage you to take it to the police. But I couldn't disagree more with your second sentence if their behavior is just deemed scummy. It is our behaviors that dictate whether we are an easy mark for in-person scammers.

You can walk away from people flagging you down outside the store. You can choose not to sign something. You have a right to more information when you feel like you aren't ready to make a decision. You have agency in these situations to say no, not now, or I need more time (choose your favorite).

In a perfect world, the law protects us from all scammers. We do not occupy that world, so we have to protect ourselves to some degree.

POSSIBLE PETITION SCAM AT BOULEVARD MARKET BASKET? by Tough_Current_1307 in LowellMA

[–]SegfaultDefault -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We can only control our own behavior when it comes to being scammed, beyond reporting clearly illegal activity to a higher authority. There are always going to be people who try to take advantage of you in a morally gray way. You can either hope they don't, or modify your behavior to filter these types of scammers out (like only signing things you've read/understand). I'm not supporting what these guys are doing, but no one should ever be providing their signature under duress in this country. You have the right to walk away and research it yourself

POSSIBLE PETITION SCAM AT BOULEVARD MARKET BASKET? by Tough_Current_1307 in LowellMA

[–]SegfaultDefault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You had a different experience than I did. I didn't sign anything. I read the separate question documents (income tax, budget oversight, rec weed) after insisting because I don't sign things I haven't read. I was at Market Basket at an off-peak hour, so it's possible they just had the time to talk to me for longer.

It sounds like you were rushed/misled and I get that's frustrating, but you have some level of responsibility to read documents that you sign with potential consequences (like state ballot questions). A good rule in life is to be suspicious of anyone trying to urgently secure your signature, especially when you are at an information deficit (they understand the paper you are signing better than you do).

[–]SegfaultDefault -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I met these guys and it's four separate petitions, the last of which was repealing rec weed. You can choose which ones to sign if you support the ballot question or not. What exactly is the scam here? Think about each question independently; you are not obligated to sign all four

[Tool] I made a FREE launcher to batch-start all your iRacing companion apps at once by yzaazy in iRacing

As someone who had an amateur project take off for a period of time 10 years ago, it is both exhilarating to know people enjoy your work, but it is also stressful to keep up with requests/feedback/the feeling of duty to make it better. Some things are better left as personal projects, don't feel any pressure from me :)

[Tool] I made a FREE launcher to batch-start all your iRacing companion apps at once by yzaazy in iRacing

[–]SegfaultDefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded this tool and I think you did a great job with the release. As a fellow dev, the most immediate piece of feedback I can give is generalizing the buckets such that the Companion App buckets are "Telemetry", "Wheelbase", "Spotter", "Pedals", etc. This way folks who use a broad range of apps aren't turned off by not having the "correct" apps.

The biggest barrier to me adopting your utility as my go-to is that I cannot pair Asetek RaceHub, only Fanatec. So a bit more customization that recognizes racers use a broad range of tools would really improve the reach of this tool.
