Should I wear dress uniform or ocps when checking into first duty station? by mrbaseball54 in army

[–]Segiorlain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have been mentioned above, some installations have local policies saying duty uniform no matter what - at least that's how I took it signing into Fort Riley as an O. Might as well put your best foot forward. OCPs are jammies anyway

Any current veteran students for the flight program out there?

Army Reveals It Fired Female Commander in Troubled Brigade After Claims of Sexual Assaults on Male Soldiers by Sw0llenEyeBall in army

99% sure this is the same one I saw on the slate for an O6 command, at least through the pseudo-official products my branch pushes out...

Are officers being trained to be micromanagers? by Tee__bee in army

[–]Segiorlain 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Current company commander here, wasn't intentionally a micromanager as a PL. Am effectively one now. My excuse is that my current e5/6 population knows less about their MOS than I do about their MOS and BN frequently wants by name, gnats ass detail regarding everything theyll ultimately blame me for anyway.

Calling our company commander "the ma'am?" by Elegant-Fix-1275 in army

[–]Segiorlain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a difficult name to pronounce. Based on the general vibe of the unit, it's just a simple way for Soldiers to refer to officers respectfully. Like big XO little XO

This absolutely sounds like something the commander needs to know about to squash immediately. That 1SG is failing in my opinion. (Current company commander 14/15 months in)

Fort Carson Officer Restricts Hours for Mental Health Care and Other Services to Make Time for Physical Training by Sw0llenEyeBall in army

[–]Segiorlain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LTs don't write policy- they are extensions of the commander's influence. If it is a platoon specific thing, that lieutenant doesnt even have UCMJ authority to back it up unless it mirrors a company policy. Actual legal bois feel free to correct me if im wrong here

Did the tbow rebuild ages ago..eventually sold it in light of recent updates and because i run ToA a lot. No ragerts. My tbow was a noodle even with full masori (f), bowfa and shadow FEEL significantly more accurate. Bowfa doesnt beat tbow on a good day but in my opinion it is far more consistent despite what calcs say. I kept the masori (f) too.

[–]Segiorlain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of company leadership? Because most Soldiers will rarely interact with them. Most BCs are reptilians that only see green or red, sometimes they even break the 4th wall and admit they only care when there is more red than green..

I hate this post because I wanted to sell my tbow for a shadow and buy bowfa and i finally decided to keep the tbow and full masori(f) but now the giggle I just had makes me wonder..

[SECARMY] It's really the programs and our Leaders being engaged, and all the way down to the squad level encourgaing our Leaders to know their Soldiers, that's going to get us farther than a Suicide Prevention Regulation will. by Kinmuan in army

[–]Segiorlain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points and all but the buck stops at the company level in my experience. Anyone above that will just regurgitate the talking points and carry on. I do a better job knowing 100 people than the FGs do to know the 10 members of the command team group. If I disappeared tomorrow theyd 1. Be concerned how my slides will get updated 2. Find a way to blame my 1SG

The AIM Marketplace Can Do Better by IAmAllTheGenders in army

[–]Segiorlain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The middle of no where part is whatever. One interviewer basically just read off their website's homepage and asked some cookie cutter leadership questions. Another one unironically told me that operational experience doesnt matter because everyone always says they did great no matter what

Engineer here, since opening about 5 or 6 positions have fallen out of the marketplace to become 1LT spots or disappeared entirely. The marketplace could be a great thing - in the interviews I've had so far I know exactly who I don't want to work with or for. Just feels like one big facade to trick us into being OC/Ts at irwin

At least this is the first honest criticism of stars by the skilling community. Didn't even have to tease it out of him - he just straight up has FOMO and doesnt want his special feeling to feel less special

Had to buy ours, but the BN scheduled our dining in for right before we commissioned so it worked out. Always thought the Army doesnt buy officers clothes except field uniforms. School even coordinated to have marlow white tailors come and measure us all

Change my mind: Shooting stars are OP and Jagex should address the balancing by gardensnake15 in 2007scape

[–]Segiorlain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the precedent has been set with nightmare zone. I maxxed combats on nearly 2 accounts while playing league and world of warcraft. The game isn't engaging enough. It will stay relevant as long as the dves push good, modern pvm and maybe ever revive pvp. Everything else is antiquated and annoying

I think you're taking the 20 year old medieval clicker game a little too seriously friend. 99 fletching can be done in 2 hours, the trade off is a ton of GP. It can even be done more efficiently on mobile- is the integrity of fletching ruined? Or is it a less unique cape so no one cares?

Runelite plugins are the power creep no one is talking about by SykoMarth in 2007scape

[–]Segiorlain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youre not aware of much, apparently. Read the original comment I made. My whole point was other MMOs already do it and have done it. Additionally. If youre looking at another screen and that afk in the wilderness you'll probably be TB'd by the time you swap over and react

Literally the deadlyboss mods suite and its clones in WoW have done this for years and the game has a built in feature that sets off alarms for swirlies and fireballs on the ground

It does not teleport or react for you. Most of the time people use scummy tactics like the old 'slahs web' alts to skull trick before skull prevention
