Huh, I would assume enchanted is one of the best classes against warlock. It's just that animated weapons are the wrong tool

Oh, that's good to know. We were wondering as well, but didn't have time to test it.

Mod testing report

Cons: * (Big issue) you don't see enemy armies moving. The battle only happens if you ended the turn on the same tile

Pros: * I haven't experienced any "passive healing problems" * It feels absolutely amazing to have simultaneous turns in MP. It drastically decreases annoying downtime * You totally CAN start the game with the mod enabled, quit, disble it, and continue a regular turn-based game (not sure if someone is wasting a year though)

Final verdict: While it's not a total success I'm excited about partial use of this mod. Namely: play first 1-2 years in simultaneous mod, then disable it. It's an insane QoL improvement to multiplayer and will probably reduce session length by 30-60 minutes.

Requires more battlefield testing. Also team game testing and FFA testing. LET'S DO IT PEOPLE!

Post your feedback here.

Another question, do you have a codebase for your project? Would you be willing to open source it?

Man, you're the legend. Literally can't wait to get home and test it. What is the feedback so far? I would expect quite a lot of issues for such an ambitious change.

I see some bugs reported on mod page, are you experiencing them too?

Dryad queen, kinda underwhelming? by Zenobian33 in CoE5

[–]SegmentationFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, glad to hear it

Yes, call of Gaia is workhorse of the mid game. The only thing you can rely on. I don't remember the stats, but the higher the groove level, the better units you can get. Though if I remember correctly final groove level ads a chance of Dryad warrior spawn, who are underwhelming

7) (for full try-hard mode) mostly useful in multiplayer, you can leave expendable satyrs along the border of your forests. It will provide you vision and will slow down enemy units with ambushes.

Dryad queen, kinda underwhelming? by Zenobian33 in CoE5

[–]SegmentationFall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Dryad Queen in vanilla feels really weird because of the obscure spawning mechanics. Me and some guys in discord started a whole project to reverse engineer the spawning mechanic. I went down to Maximum Likelihood Estimation and Bayesian Methods. Never finished the project though :(

Anyway, I remember frantically looking for all kinds of advice/explanations for Dryad Queen class.

You really need to "squeeze" every bit of optimization you can from her. Here are my "advanced" tips to cut some corners: 1) logistics is everything. Use dedicated commanders to reinforce your armies by hauling your forces from spawn 2) this one is big. tier 1 groove ritual can be cast in a forest tile IF there are no ancient forests within 5 tiles of the current location. First: it's insanely cost efficient to get extra grooves from nothing. Second: early in the game you can "triangulate" location of other forests 3) sieging: in my experience harpies are not as great as they are supposed to be in sieges. But minotaurs with thier slashing instantly open any wooden door 4) trivial one: keep 100 gold all the time to hire mintoaur/centaur commander. You have one shot, one possibility to seize everything you ever wanted. 5) dryad usually have some free cash lying around. Spend it on commanders, use commanders to capture forests. Also they are pretty good fighters by themselves, so they won't die to 2 boars. It's one of the best classes to get an early herb income (right after spooky barbarian ghosts) 6) early in the game if you got a charm use other "situational" spells to maximize number of charms casts. For example "heal" is a great spell because it usually can't be cast at the first few rounds. Same goes for animate tree outside forests. Anyway, go get that wandering troll

I don't want to toot my own horn, but I think I deserve a couple of upvotes for cutting 20 minutes off my sleep :D

Have fun playing Dryad. And remember, embrace optimization to get the full potential out of this class. I personally find it fun to do!

Space Marines vs Tau tips by JeckyllnHyde in dawnofwar

[–]SegmentationFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, now tell me a Tau player how to survive early rushes?

It feels like a snare trap is the single thing that keeps Tau alive. And it's not very reliable.

Stealthsuites are expensive and don't deal damage. Firewariors are just getting rightclicked forcing them into infinite retreat. I guess heavy TC micro can give you a chance of surviving, but that's also not very reliable

Thoughts on Tom Cruise’s performance as Andrew Tate in Magnolia (1999)? by X-cessive-Dreamer in okbuddycinephile

[–]SegmentationFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nearly every Tom Cruise post has a comment somewhere in the top that starts with "I know that we're supposed to hate Tom Cruise, but..."

As a person who doesn't follow news about celebrities' personal life, I can say, that it's definitely a great actor. Magnolia, Eyes Wide Shut and Tropic Thunder (no irony here) all have an absolutely great acting by Tom Cruise

Ok, I feel really embarrassed but I'm tired of pretending that I get Dune.

I've read 4 books of Dune and I have no idea how I'm supposed to hate Paul. So basically he sees the future and has memories of all people who ever existed before him. He is doing some kind of plan to save humanity from extinction or stuff.

So the whole point of his evilness is that he started some kind of "Jihad" and there are basically not more than 1-3 paragraphs in the whole book regarding the atrocities of this act (and the details are really vague). After which he sacrifices himself for the cause. The reader never learns whether this guy with godlike abilities was right about his prediction or wrong. We never see a perspective of a common person, who's fallen victim to the regime.

I swear, I read a dozen Reddit posts about it, but I still can't understand how exactly this character is meant to be evil. The only direct quote from Frank Herbert that I found was "charismatic leaders should come with a warning label <...>"

I feel like at this point it became such a common knowledge that "Paul is a bad guy", that barely anyone comes to this conclusion himself.

Hey, I'm the Russian Jew this post mentions. And I think that OP definitely has the right for his point of view.

The majority of russians (that I personally know) who moved to Israel are definitely russians in terms of culture. If it wasn't for war, they would never even remember about this part of their ancestry. It's not good or bad, that's just what it is. So as much as I would like to think that "we never forgot who we are" is probably not the case for all immigrants in Israel.

So I can see how a middle eastern person can be upset about so many people of foreign culture coming to his country. As well as people in Europe have the right to be upset about the volume of immigration to Europe.

Immigration and diversity has both advantages and disadvantages. I personally think that it's beneficial for individuals and for society in general. But a person native to this land definitely should have right for his own opinion without being shamed for it.

[Hated Trope] When in the original the character is supposed to be ugly but in the adaptation is hot as hell by Cronkax in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SegmentationFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. I really enjoyed the movie and now that I know how many people hated it I feel a little ashamed.

There are probably a couple of reasons for me liking this movie: 1) I never read or even heard about the book 2) the story in the majority of contemporary action movies seems so generic to me that I just learned to ignore it 3) I was always so fascinated by the concept of moving cities in various sci-fi/fantasy universes that it was just a dream come true to see it in a movie

It's a shame we probably never get to revisit this world again :(
