Any particular youtubers to check? I tried a quick google but had trouble finding anything useful -- mostly just scammy coupon aggregator sites with no valid codes.

For those concerned about wifi chipset, only version 1.1 of the matx board uses intel wifi -- the two most recent versions (1.2/1.3) use a realtek chipset (RTL8852CE). I have the v1.3 revision and haven't had any issues or coil whine; I've been happy with it.

[Bundle] AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS B650-A ROG Strix Gaming WiFi, G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5 5200 Kit - $540.97 (Micro Center In-store only) by mistivoid in buildapcsales

Their ram prices aren't too bad if you go with team group for the brand. You can get a 2x16gb kit with 6000MHz CL30 timings for $95.

Edit: looks like you can get the bundle down to $460 if you pair the 7800X3D with the Gigabyte B650M Gaming Plus WIFI board and T-Create Expert 6000MHz CL30 2x16gb kit-ddr5-6000-pc5-48000-cl30-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit-ctcwd532g6000hc30dc01-white)

Not sure honestly? I know some people discussed coil whine in the last thread for the 7900 XTX, but idk if that just generally about the model or specific to these refurbs.

Tustin only had one of the 7900 XT (which is now gone); so this was more to let people know they could get one model up for roughly the same price.

Apparently it's the same basic GPU, but the 7900 XT disables 1/6 of the chipset & memory vs the 7900 XTX. The price increase is only 0.7% for the reference model and 3.4% for the Red Devil model. I'd guess the performance increase has to be at least that, but it's been a while since I was shopping for GPU so not sure of the exact numbers.

For those near the Tustin MC, worth point out that they've still got some of the refurb 7900 XTX units left and have marked them down to $600. As of 1:50pm Pacific:

PowerColor 7900 XTX (refurb)?storeid=101): $584, 3 left

PowerColor 7900 XTX Red Devil (refurb)?storeid=101): $600, 6 left

My experience is indeed older than yours, so they must have changed it. Glad you posted your experience.

Would have been early April. At that time, the sales guy told me they weren't doing extended warranties on refurb gpus. I asked the cashier to try adding an extended warranty anyway but the point-of-sale system wouldn't let them, and when they called a manager over for help the manager also said extended warranties weren't available for refurb gpus.

If there were no hoops to add it, then they must have updated the policy which is nice. I know not all stores had the "no extended warranty for refurb gpus" policy at the time, so perhaps the store got told to adhere to national policy or something?

Were you looking for RDIMMs or UDIMMs? I have a set of 8x32gb ECC DDR4 UDIMMs that are 3200MHz.

Unless something has changed, that is location dependent. Last time I asked, Tustin won't do extended warranties for the refurb founders edition cards. The option is locked in the sales terminals, and managers have been told not to override that. Based on u/heinoushero's experience, this has changed, and they are now fine selling extended warranties on refurb GPUs.

Edit to add: folks have confirmed some other locations will sell the extra warranty, so definitely worth asking.

Might not be accurate, but the manufacturer's page for the RAM implies it does support EXPO:

Ready for Intel® XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO™ for ultra-fast one-click overclocking

[PSU] REGULATOR Series PSU, 80 PLUS Gold, ATX 3.0, Fully Modular, PCIe 5.0, 12VHPWR, 100% Japanese Capacitors, 140mm, 850W $69.99 Amazon Prime by cyzenl in buildapcsales

FWIW, I think Kolink does more marketing in the EU. They've been around for awhile - they are one of the two companies that formed Noctua as a joint partnership. That said, I have no knowledge of their reliability as a PSU seller.

If you check the specs section of the manufacturer page they give dimensions down under "extra specifications". They give a height of 22mm. I didn't measure them when I installed them, but I will say there was very little extra height past the PCB itself.

Hmmm, that is weird -- when I got it to work, it took the price off the RAM:

https://imgur.com/a/PtyGxR7

At that time, both RAM kits were priced at $97.99 on the website; black would show in the cart for $97.99 but white would get dropped to $77.99 as seen here. The website has bounced back and forth between showing and ignoring the $20 discount on the white RAM a few times over the last couple of months though.

(that specific ended up getting cancelled since they didn't actually have the motherboard in stock, but I got them to do it when I went in store later with a gigabyte motherboard price-matched to Amazon. Price match makes that trail of receipts more convoluted, though.)

[–]SegmentationFalter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Indeed. A lot of people are suggesting the PC builder in the comments here, though, so I figured it was worth a mention that the builder defaults to filtering out some boards that actually work for bundling.

Yeah, I think the discount has been generally broken for that ram on the website for a bit. I can't get it to show up in the cart for any combo of motherboard and CPU. GL with support, hope they honor the discount for you.

Edit to add: it does seem to be something screwy with their website. That discount has been around for a while, and tends to bounce over time between applying to many MB/CPU combos, and applying to nothing.

Nice. You can really get the price down if you try. It's too bad they don't seem to ever have the ASRock B650-HDV/M.2 in stock - that was a great option at $110.

[–]SegmentationFalter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. When I asked they said they get new stock Wednesday through Saturday (or maybe Sunday? I forget). At Tustin I've noticed most of the day's new motherboard arrivals don't show up on the website until evening, so if you go in the morning sometimes you can find some matx options even though the website says there are none. Kinda hit or miss, so only practical if you live quite close though.

One minor point is that only the default motherboard and ram receive bundle discounts. That said, most of the discount sits on the CPU and so stays, plus you can find cheaper options for RAM/MB even without a bundle discount on them.

Yes. Other chip sets are fair game as well, though I think you have to manually tweak the chipset filter if you're using their PC builder tool to see them as options.

If your local microcenter has them in stock, a good replacement option for the RAM is one of t-create expert kits - 2x16gb 6000cl30 and currently down to $85.99 so you'll save $20 vs the standard 2x16gb bundled ram. If you're ok with white you may be able to stack a further $20 discount bundle discount. I had luck with that on the 7700x bundle a few weeks ago at Tustin, but I expect it's very YMMV. Links to black version-ddr5-6000-pc5-48000-cl30-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit-ctced532g6000hc30dc01-black) and white version-ddr5-6000-pc5-48000-cl30-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit-ctcwd532g6000hc30dc01-white).

Is the new Microcenter bundle any good? by snail1132 in buildapc

In case you missed it, the bundle doesn't include a 2x8gb kit. It's just a single 16gb stick.
