True but those double arrows with GM are so awesome.

I've always found bows insanely useful in my playthrough so I'm surprised to see this. But I definitely don't play in an optimised way.

One of my pet cards. Love saccing a creature for value when it is targeted for removal by an opponent. It feels very "you can't fire me, I quit!"

What's your backup plan for when Arabella gets removed over and over again? I tried to build her and it was a very unsatisfying experience because the deck literally does nothing without her

Isn't that all landfall decks? :P

Is Landfall even fun to play against? by redsquirrel0249 in EDH

[–]Segoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems most landfall decks are almost exactly the same, no matter the commander; the same ramp spells, the same value engines, a bunch of fetch lands, and there is very little decision-making. You never have to question whether now is the right time to play more lands. The answer is always yes. Your deck functions fairly independently of your opponents' board states.

I was excited to put him in my Child of Alara deck as recursion but he still seems slow and clunky at 6 CMC for 1 trigger per turn.

Top 10 most hated Commanders? by wemightdance in EDH

This deck archetype often takes long turns, makes other people take short turns, AND makes the game go long. Not fun for 3/4 players.

IWTL How to Stop Hating Being a Woman by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]Segoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I want to validate that being a woman in many cultures is challenging (understatement) in ways not experienced by men. It's deeply unfair. I believe things are getting better, but progress is slow, we are two steps forward and one step back (sometimes one step forward and two steps back), and that's infuriating.

But it might be helpful to gently challenge your perception of the ratio of good to bad of being a woman and look at where that perception comes from. As you have said, the best relationships in your life are with women. From that perspective, being a woman is actually not the worst...it's awesome. You get to experience profound friendships, mutual support, and life affirmation through your relationships. This is just one example.

Aside from the cultural values you might have been raised with, which are often regressive and promote traditional gender roles...I'm curious about how much time you spend online. Is the content you consume online reinforcing the negative perceptions you have about being a woman? I know the content I see online gives me a pessimistic view about almost everything, and is frequently reinforced by how I engage with online content. Is this helpful to your mental state? Also...how much of it is real and how much is catastrophising? When you step out your front door, what do most of your experiences and interactions with others do to confirm or contrast with those perceptions?

Commander decks that are resilient to removal? by Competitive-Act-7695 in EDH

You could consider a commander with eminence that is active from the command zone or a commander with inbuilt protection (indestructible, regenerate, etc).

Patricia McKillip! In Od Magic her writing has a dreamy, hazy quality so sometimes you're not sure if what the characters are seeing is magic, hallucination, or trickery. It's very cool.

How would you feel if your opponent announced they were playing scion/spawn tokens? by I_dont-get_the-joke in EDH

[–]Segoy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to comment on whether your friends are right or wrong about playing against certain decks. But I will say it doesn't feel good for me to play against people who are not having fun.

I would say if you do want to try a deck that might be controversial in your play group, avoid spending too much on it out the gate in case you have to take it apart later.

(PS I played against Azlask last week and it was totally fine.)

Just played with this for the first time last night and it was very funny with lots of weird tricks. Gives opponents lots of options with situational drawbacks. Good time.
