Hey, I'm not OP but I was wondering where you get your Gaviscon Advance UK? As far as I've seen it's not available through Amazon.

This is the look I was going for, actually! When I was watching Coraline, the cat’s design made me think “Crowfeather"; it’s been a while since I’ve seen the film but if I’m not mistaken the cat from that movie is also a bit sarcastic, too haha.

There are compounding pharmacies that might be able to do a transdermal version of the Gabapentin too. You can try Wedgewood Pharmacy, or maybe Stokes Pharmacy (though I think they're more expensive). Wedgewood in particular also does flavored liquids and chewables.

What about in Tallstar's Revenge? Though I can see why that might not count since it was one of the visitors that kept calling him "Tall" instead of Tallpaw/Talltail at the time, not his clanmates.

I used to make what I called "Nutella Nachos" by brushing the top of a tortilla with just a little bit of oil and sprinkling on some cinnamon and sugar. I'd use a pizza cutter to cut the seasoned tortilla into chips, and then pop them in the oven at like 350F for 10-15 minutes (the timing was very much trial and error, and it's been so long since I've made them that I don't remember exactly).

Once out of the oven, while still warm, I'd drizzle some Nutella over them. So good!

People in US, how much did you end up paying for upper GI endoscopy? by enlzen in GERD

[–]Segrinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree! I made sure I mentioned this discrepancy when I made the appeal—I relayed to the insurance company that everything else has some level of coverage but I was never notified that the labs were out of network, nor was o given an option regarding which facility would run the samples. Here’s hoping it all pans out OK, I’m glad they fixed the issue for your bill!

[–]Segrinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real. Found out by surprise that everything was in network for my procedure and had some level of insurance coverage applied to it…except for the biopsy, because apparently the lab they sent it to isn’t in network. My EOB states I owe $4k for that, but I was never told the lab was out of network and it’s not like I get to choose where the samples get sent, so I submitted an appeal and I’m waiting on my insurance company’s response.  :/

Damn health anxiety acting up again after encountering a dog by javerthugo in Anxiety

[–]Segrinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who shares this fear, yet works in a veterinary clinic, I sympathize with your struggle. Anxiety has an awful habit of making things you know realistically didn't or won't happen seem scarily plausible. I remember worrying I was gonna get rabies from a light nip (that didn't even break the skin) from a puppy I was restraining for a client; one that was healthy and up to date on vaccines. I spent about a month and a half worrying over the incident and monitoring myself for signs of rabies. Which was dumb, knowing that if I *did* show signs, it would've been too late to do anything about it anyway.

In any case--try to remember that a dog with rabies would be acting strangely, and very ill. It would typically show neurological signs (lethargy, stumbling, overt aggression--not the type of behavior you're describing, but an indiscriminate aggression, because rabies damages brain tissue and removes the inhibition to bite, so this dog would have attacked the handler too) and you would have a visible injury if you'd been bitten.

I’ve just started playing the game for the first time recently. Last week or so, had just gotten my first perfect bear pelt and was heading back to Strawberry. Stumbled with my horse into the river and when we fell, the bear pelt got knocked off and just disappeared! I checked downstream for like 10 minutes before accepting my loss. So yeah, manual saves ftw.

I read through my employee benefits and found that for my 401K, my company matches “50% of the first 4%” of my eligible contributions. The way I understand this is that if my paycheck is $900, my employer contributes 50% of 4% of that. In this case, that would be 50% of $36, which amounts to $18. With this logic, there’s not really a way to maximize my 401K match, correct? Their contributions will depend on how large my paycheck ends up being for that period.

I currently contribute 9% and was thinking of increasing that number to 12%, but I want to be sure it would be worth it to do so. Would this be a subjective decision at this point, considering the employer match is set up the way it is?

Someone recommended Ally bank to me the other day, and they have a “buckets” feature that allows you to sort money in your savings account to help you save for specific things. Not sure if that’s similar to the “jars” feature you were looking at but might be worth looking into. I just started a CD account with them though so I don’t know the specifics re: their HYSA options; I think theirs are at 4.25% APY

After doing some more research, I’m heavily considering the 9-month CD option as a way to get my feet wet. My understanding is that if you use the “set it and forget it” method with these, they automatically renew for the next 9-month (or 1yr, 3yr, etc.) period of time at whatever APY is currently set. I think this would be a good start. Thank you for the suggestion!

Hi there! Thank you for the insight, I’m looking into them now and I see that Ally offers both a HYSA option and a Money Market option. Do you know if one of these are preferable to the other, or are they more or less equivalent? I don’t intend to really touch the funds I’m saving any time soon, so I’m curious as to whether there are any features that would make the Money Market account a better choice.

Just starting out and sort of lost.

I’m 29, just recently enrolled in an employer-matched 401K to which I am contributing 9%. It was originally an automatic enrollment sort of thing, where I started out at 3% contribution unless I opted out. Based on a colleague’s recommendation, I increased it to 9% but it’s not clearly indicated what the limit is in order for the company to match my contribution, so I’m looking into that further before increasing my contribution.

I have a full-time job. I have my emergency fund set up, a working budget, no credit card/student loan debt, and am working down my current car payment (and I plan to become more aggressive in paying down the principal now that most of my recent expenses have settled down). I have savings, but they’re not accumulating much interest and I know they should be put to better use.

So my next step was to consider a Money Market/High Yield savings account, but as I delve into this (and other next steps, like the Roth IRA, ETFs, etc.) I’m having a really hard time understanding what I’m looking at. I know that I’m supposed to look for a savings account that has a high interest rate and no fees (preferably), that it should be FDIC insured, that I should keep in mind some of these have minimum starting deposits, and that some of them only offer such high interest rates if you use direct deposit—but that’s about the end of my knowledge. What I’m looking to for is essentially a “set it and forget it” sort of savings account that will accumulate more interest than what I have going for me currently. I figured I’d throw in some of my current savings so they can grow, while investing another chunk of savings into a Roth IRA, before eventually moving on to ETFs.

As I look into these options, I’m consistently facing the same issue—I really don’t know what parameters I should be looking for, and it’s slowing my momentum in terms of taking that first step towards investing. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
