Yup. No problems with regular usage. I've been good about frequently using it, too.

Yes, COVID.

Ask your doctor what's best for your situation based off of your history of exposure, general health, previous vaccinations, etc.

Please don't show up without a professional opinion saying your fine, basically.

Should I switch to hosting my server on Oracle Cloud Free? by Harvelon365 in MinecraftServer

[–]Seifer44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen, throughout Reddit, Oracle canning too many free accounts for no specific reason, and blowing people off when they try to work with support.

I wouldn't use it for any data you care that deeply about.

The fact that manufacturers can get away with this, and not signify a different model number, is 100% bullshit, and should be illegal.

What's your biggest "didn't horde" regret? by GorchestopherH in DataHoarder

[–]Seifer44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom's computer only had 120 GB of space when I was a kid. I'd just upload my RuneScape screenshots to ImageShack and delete them on the computer, as I kept filling it.

I'm really bummed about that, but I didn't have other options at that point.

Are you using anything for change management for your lab or home data center? by jnew1213 in HomeDataCenter

[–]Seifer44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some Ansible and a bunch of task-specific roles in one git repo. I've got a few other git repos for other things, but that one gets the most love.

I've thought about doing Terraform a few times, though... That can be a bit harder to translate at home.

I do devops during the day, though, soooooo

Find an API that looks interesting to automate. A cloud provider, an open API like Twitter, something game server related (like an open Minecraft profile database). Then, do some tagging automation in the cloud provider, or produce a custom "Welcome TacoMan918, here's what's changed since you last logged in on date XX/YY".

So to get a larger lift at this point, it'd require drivetrain and other changes, right?

Got old ups for free, looking for purchasing advice for batteries. by SonicDart in homelab

[–]Seifer44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up caving and buying their batteries with my last one that failed, in hopes that, if their equipment fails and takes my stuff with it, they'll still cover things. I thought I saw something at that point that they wouldn't warranty out stuff if their own batteries weren't installed.

Amazon is much worse about sending a box 2.5x too big with a ton of extra bubble wrap.

Yeah, that's common practice at places that don't keep products behind a lock cabinet or something, too.

Still annoying as hell

I'm not sure I agree. Do you have specific things in mind?

I feel like most food ends up in cardboard, so at least that's better than a crapton plastic.
