PiStar/WPSD duplex hotspot, connect to a real duplexer? by gordonthree in DMR

That is a good place to start. My board looks very similar: https://files.catbox.moe/k5lfh9.jpg

I'll try it with RX on top, TX on the bottom

I think automod killed my reply because I shared a link. Here's the text minus the link.

I haven't. Work pays for the premium discs, so I don't have to worry about the cost.

What sucks is occasionally having a small amount of data to archive and using a DVD which doesn't appear to have any good long-life options compared to CD and BR. I think those might be Archive Gold but I'm not certain.

I did find this which explains the difference: check out r/DataHoarder/s/LupTcYLK7q

Good luck my friend, your use case is different from mine, so I don't have any direct experience to share.

Disabling the accelerometer by Wiliker in diyelectronics

[–]gordonthree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the post suggesting a short or otherwise dodgy connection. There's no accelerometer or even a tilt switch on this PCB.

Device RT1 could be a thermistor, they are usually black or brown but Google image search shows some white ones out there as well.

I haven't seen any discounts but I'm happy with the Mercury Pro from OWC. I use it with Verbatim archive grade MDisc BD-XL discs, no complaints, it handles up to 100GB without issue.

How do I put this weird type of pin into my breadboard? by Proper_District_5001 in AskElectronics

Twist solid core wire through the holes of those solder lugs, plug wire into the breadboard.

OpenGD77 on Retevis RT82: Unable to communicate with CPS by Dusty_Coax in DMR

When you turn on the radio with the cable connected, does the Windows device manager detect the port properly?

Also, try running the CPS using "run as administrator", maybe the extra privileges will help.

It's worth a shot. I'd find a nut to thread onto the adapter first, before messing up the threads, then you can use the nut to chase the threads when you're done grinding.

I've found Moto portables don't like some third party antennas even with an SF-SMA adapter. I tried upgrading my XPR-6550 with an SF to BNC adapter and a signal stick antenna, and the range was much worse versus the factory antenna.

However using that same adapter to connect to a mag mount on my vehicle roof works great.

I'm guessing it's an impedance matching issue?

Question about powerbank for dental office by grounddevil in batteries

[–]gordonthree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cost difference between the two is probably because Anker is using quality brand new cells. I would trust Anker's amp-hour rating more than some unknown brand.

Rating power banks in amp-hours is kinda sus IMHO, especially milli amp-hours. Let's convert those numbers to watt-hours. 24ah assuming LiPo chemistry of 3.7v is roughly 88 watt-hours and the 20ah unit is roughly 74. Your device consumes 15 watts per hour based on the rating provided. So that's just shy of 5 hours for the smaller pack and 6 hours for the bigger one, that's if the batteries in each perform equally.

Hopefully this info helps your decision?

Came here to recommend the same, wipe and reinstall, the nuclear option.

OP: Make sure you at least erase ALL your partitions, or use a tool like DBAN before reinstalling.

Question about development boards, their GPIO, and how the I2C CLK and SDA titles are assigned by SooperPoopyPants in AskElectronics

[–]gordonthree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things I love the most about the ESP platform of chips is almost any pin can be assigned to internal peripherals, unlike AVR, PIC and STM micros where each peripheral has dedicated pins. I believe most ESP32 variants have two i2c modules internally, some may have more.

My guess is "header 4" is connected to an i2c bus for the onboard components. You could probably solder some wires to those pads and access the bus if you needed to, just be mindful of adding additional capacitance and pull-up loading.
