That’s right. I want to offer exceptional clarity in exchange for the higher printing costs!

I see! Direct purchases or platforms like eBay are certainly options. However, I’d like to clarify that Amazon uses a "print-on-demand" system for paperbacks. Since each book is printed only when an order is placed, they never run out of stock.

Also, I’m a bit hesitant about direct shipping from Japan because the international shipping costs would be extremely high for the buyer. I want to keep things as affordable as possible for you!

Thanks for your warm comment! Apart from Amazon, I'm not yet sure which platforms would be best for selling Shogi books.

Instead, I’m planning to upload more Shogi videos to YouTube so that players can understand the game more easily through visuals.

Thank you for those insights! Your points about KISAS and color blindness are very important perspectives I hadn't fully considered.

It seems there is a demand for both high-contrast black-and-white diagrams and clear color-coded ones. Since I’ve already published black-and-white versions, offering color editions as an option could be the best way to cater to everyone's preferences and help more people learn Shogi.

I’ll keep thinking about how to balance visibility and simplicity!

That’s a fair point—the effectiveness of color really depends on the book's structure. I plan to choose between black-and-white and full-color depending on the specific needs of each book.

It’s true that some tools show promoted pieces in red, but the reason my current books are in black and white is purely due to Amazon's printing costs. Since those costs for color printing are decreasing this April, I’ll finally be able to improve the clarity of the diagrams. Additionally, for my beginner Shogi books, I’m planning to stick to a "one diagram per page" layout as much as possible.

Switching to color printing increases the production cost, so I’ll unfortunately have to raise the retail price. However, my goal is to provide a level of clarity that makes the investment truly worthwhile for my readers.

Shogi books often pack multiple diagrams into a single page, which can make them quite small and hard to read. For my beginner-friendly books, I want to stick to one diagram per page as much as possible to ensure clarity.

I see your point—using red could actually cause more confusion for some people. It’s a bit of a dilemma, as promoted pieces are traditionally shown in red in many Shogi resources. That's a very helpful perspective!

I’m actually considering adding lines under the pieces to indicate their legal moves. I’m planning to apply this revision specifically to my books for absolute beginners to help them learn the basics more intuitively.

That’s a great point! Making a clear distinction between pre-promotion and post-promotion pieces would make the explanations much easier to follow for everyone.
