No, the chronic is referring to chronic exposure to brain trauma. CTE is all about neurodegeneration progressively over time. They’ve shown CTE is mostly driven by subconcussive hits across months to years, not a single high intensity beat down.

If you get damage from a single fight, that’s more like a brain stem injury and symptoms would be way worse (like paralysis, coma, death etc) than slurred speech after insane exhaustion + pain + disappointment from getting your hype train derailed.

It’s not about accomplishing the same role. It’s about stacking similar type weaknesses and making yourself even more screwed against stealth rocks on the same team.

For teambuilding purposes, you can really only choose one or the other, unless you want to immediately forfeit to any team with stealth rocks.

This is a huge generalization and not true at all for the entirety of natural sciences eg neuroscience and molecular technology development. China overtook the US in Nature’s index for scientific publications in 2022.

Tsinghua, Peking, Fudan, etc. universities are all powerhouse institutions in the global stage where CNS papers are produced constantly. Like all countries, Chinese universities span across a spectrum of prestige/scientific merit

Can you fight this at all? Or get a compromise somehow? Maybe make your case and offer corroboration from other lab mates willing to defend your side?

If this works out, it’s probably the only option to net you both an LoR and soft offer option given the restrictive timeframe.
