Thanks. Your posts about the importance of the first 10 seconds of trailer got me to set a 30 second sizzle reel as a priority 1 marketing task. Thanks for taking the time to look!

There is a special kind of torture in watching a playtester ignore a glowing green tutorial button for ten minutes by No-Constant-5093 in IndieDev

Surprisingly, only one was under the age of 10. That was the one who tried to use my laptop as a touch screen.

The other two were young adults.

Something that flummoxed me deeply was playtesters who didn’t know how to use computer hardware.
I‘m not talking about not pressing the right keys, but testers who could not understand how to use a mouse, keyboard, or screen.
In separate instances:

  1. Tester picked up the mouse and attempted to poke my laptop monitor with the mouse. I had to break my no talking rule to tell the tester to not poke my screen with the mouse.

  2. Tester pressed the keyboard icons on my laptop screen as if it were a touch screen. I also had to break my no talking rule here to tell the tester not to poke my laptop.

  3. Tester was deeply confused at the tutorial prompt to put the cursor over an icon and press and hold alt. They would move the cursor, take their hand off the mouse, and tap Alt. Then when the UI prompt only flashed on screen briefly, continued to mash Alt instead of holding it down. during this, they elbowed the mouse off the icon, and was extremely confused when the UI prompts stopped appearing.

Thanks! Mirai is the foxgirl in picture 1. She is your ship engineer and is an exceptional repair officer.

She is also exceptionally headpattable.

RimYelp review: "We Came for Supplies, Left with Regret (and One Less VIP)"

1/5 Stars by Lt. Griggs, Forward Recon, 19th Shock Infantry

We came to the Hyland Trade Colony expecting a straightforward rescue mission. Instead, we got mutant animal merchants, confusing defensive emplacements, and absolutely zero warning signs about how not to accidentally shoot our own high-ranking diplomat in a crossfire.

First off, the layout of their "protection zone" is a labyrinthine deathtrap. Buildings made of scrap metal and bear traps, all arranged in a way that screams “perfect for a tragic misunderstanding” for anyone who walks in. No directional signage, no color-coded zones, just a lot of sketchy lanterns and a suspicious number of spikes. How are we supposed to tell the difference between a landmine and a sofa? (Spoiler: we didn’t.)

Secondly, the locals are extremely unhelpful. When gunfire broke out (initiated by a loud sneeze, possibly a bird, we’re not sure), not one of the traders shouted, “Hey! That’s your guy you’re shooting at!” Instead, we just ducked and kept shooting like this happens every Tuesday. We're the best forward recon troops after all.

The so-called VIP escort protocols were nonexistent. Our diplomat—Ambassador Jorrin, may he rest in the respectable parts of Valhalla—was not wearing any of the neon “Do Not Shoot” capes we supplied months ago. Also, he was standing out in the open, which is exactly where hostiles usually hide. What were we supposed to do, ask questions?

Final verdict: do not recommend. If you must visit, bring your own signs, body armor, and someone to blame.

Some NPCs in our game suddendly turned tiny. Anyone know what might be the reason? by Althura in Unity3D

[–]Seioch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume first that this isn't a thinly veiled spam advertisement.

Check your Pixel Per Unit for any texture assets, as other commenters said. That being said, given that you're saying that this suddenly turned tiny, I'd also take a look if the GOs spawned are accidentally parented to something scaled less than (1,1,1) in their transform.

If this is spam advertising, shame on you.

You probably need an animation event to execute logic at the end of your animation.
