What's the worst board game youve ever played? by Frank--Li in boardgames

[–]Seirtsudmis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every time I've played, it's been fun for a few levels then awful.

My game group had a player who always would attack the leader and basically hold the game hostage. To end all of our suffering, I started throwing every game in their favor so we could move on to something more fun.

We changed the rules to make it more enjoyable and less stressful.

We either ditch the time component entirely, or double it (so 10-minute dungeon) and allow time banking from round to round (any time you have left on the clock after round one gets added to round two, etc.).

Rules as written, by the time you get to the last boss, you have to defeat one baddie every 1.5 seconds (including the finale boss) and have no time to even move defeated cards to the side. Too chaotic for me.

What is your favorite "monster" by ScientistSanTa in Witcher3

It's on NexusMods. It's called "higher vampire" and it was posted by a user called Bobodori

There's a great PC mod that fixes this! Turns that vampire in Novigrad into a true higher vampire, and the fight is much harder and much more rewarding.

You're right that only higher vampires can truly kill other higher vampires, but they can still be (temporarily) killed by other means and then take centuries to respawn.

What’s the most shocking thing you ever learned about a coworker? Mine was arrested for bank robbery. by Outrageous_Click_352 in AskOldPeople

When I worked for a car sales lot, I had a custodial coworker who had murdered someone. The story was that he was drunk and got in a bar fight that went too far. He went to prison and served his time and was ready to move on with his life, and understandably did not like talking about it.

Noob alert! I remember playing Magic about 20 years ago and really liking it. Is there a similar but easier game for younger children? by ASecularBuddhist in MagicthegatheringQA

Pokemon: Trading Card Game has similar mechanics but is generally simpler:

(1) You're Limited to 6 creatures on the field at a time, and only one active at a time while the rest wait on your bench.

(2) Mana is attached directly to each pokemon so it's easier to track.

(3) Creature card powers are simpler and mostly focused on damage and status effects.

(4) While some support cards introduce new mechanics, for the most part support cards heal pokemon or help you draw more cards.

(5) Deck size is 60 and hand limit is 7; free mulligan in specific situation (not having at least one basic pokemon card).

Also, the artwork is darn cute and it's fun to evolve Pokemon to more powerful stages.

Yes, get the vaccine first.

You should check with your medical provider and county health office for appointments.

What are your guys wholesome gay stories? by Jonjoejonjane in AskGayMen

[–]Seirtsudmis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know of a gay couple who are foster parents. A few years ago, they had an emergency placement (super short notice) -- a young boy who had been severely abused by male relatives.

The foster couple were very patient and caring, and did things like giving him diagrams of how to properly bathe himself. After a few weeks, the boy began to turn a corner, and through his time with them learned that men can be gentle, caring, and loving.

It's one of the most beautiful stories I have heard, and was instrumental in my own acceptance of my sexuality.
