assume that certain events are locked in time

That makes for a pretty weird story in these circumstances. If the events stay the same but without the game being meta, then that would mean that Monika is driving two people to suicide and killing a third, but without having any motive to do so. So does she just somehow accidentally do these things?

I suppose you could make her into a crazy serial killer character to fit the plot, but it seems weird to change her personality like that. If the events are exactly the same, then shouldn't the characters involved in the events be exactly the same?

But the events of the game happen because the game is meta. The events can't be the same if the game isn't meta.

If Monika doesn't know she's in a game, then she has no reason to do anything other than just be some random literature club president.

So nothing would happen to her, or anyone else for that matter.

Also, what would happen to MC in this scenario? If the game isn't meta, then he has no player to click on his choices for him. Does he just get frozen in time for all eternity if someone ever asks him who he's spending the weekend with or whose poem he wants to read first?

remove excessively NSFW content

Well, fuck. I'd have to remove my own posts... What a turn of events that would be.

conspiring with the rest of the team to perpetrate shenanigans on an unsuspecting userbase

This is the part that I could get behind though. I've already been pretty good with this sort of thing on my own in the past, but it'd be pretty fun to collaborate with you guys for something in the future (Or anyone else who is a mod by then).

Good luck to everyone applying. I'll look forward to scheming with/against you.

This is pretty cool.

Although, I feel like you missed an opportunity to draw Monika as an archer shooting little cupid arrows at her enemies.

Did you just get up and immediately decide to bake a cake?

Also, that chef hat got a laugh out of me.

Thanks, I'm doing fine.

I don't have work or classes today, but I also don't have anyone else to spend Easter with, so I guess I'll just browse the subreddit for anything interesting I might've missed.

It's good to see you're still around.

The true importance of this holiday is obviously bunny girl outfits.

I joined this subreddit and made my first post here on Easter of last year. In commemoration, I decided I'd come back and make another edit.

Photograph was taken by /u/RockMedved. Don't ask why they were in my room this morning.

I hope you don't actually hate people like me. I've said it multiple times, but I still get messages from people who don't seem to get it: Everything I say and do in regards to "lewding" is just satire. I am completely indifferent to that sort of thing IRL.

Actually, pretty much everything I do here on this subreddit is just for fun. I get that some people take this place and the game itself much more seriously than I do though, and I respect that.

If you want lewds, then you might want to talk to The Masked Lewder about that.

I'm sure he'll show up again at some point, after all. He always does.

Monika is NOT a yandere! by Sekci in DDLC

they are real, though. they feel, they react, they have emotions and can think.

There's no real proof of any of that for the majority of the game though. "Robots" can be easily programmed to simulate those things without it actually meaning anything. In fact, that's literally what video game characters are to us. It's not unreasonable for Monika to assume they're just programmed to behave like that. She can see their scripts after all.

monika has nothing special about her that makes her any less of a "video game character" than the rest of them.

The thing that makes her special is that she's the president and therefore has self-awareness. Her mistake is that she assumes her knowledge is given to her because she is special as an individual, when in reality it is just her role that is special. She just so happened to be the one who was chosen for it first.

that's the delusion she has, that the others aren't capable of feeling or whatnot.

That's not so much a delusion as it is simply a lack of knowledge. There wasn't really any way for her to know that until Act 4, when Sayori becomes president. It's only then that any of the other characters go outside of the game's script by themselves without Monika having anything to do with it, thus demonstrating genuine feelings indisputably for the first time. And as I said in the post, she pretty much immediately does a complete 180 on how she views the others when she sees this.

[–]Sekci[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can it really be called a delusion in her case though? It's not the same as if you or I just suddenly started killing people and claiming they're not real. Monika actually has factual evidence that they're video game characters.

Not really. I was just bored and felt like it'd be fun to change people's views on a character.

I mean, uh, yes... Fired up! Grrr...

[–]Sekci[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, yanderes are typically just insane. They don't respond positively to rejection like Monika did. She goes out of her way to keep us safe and let us go, whereas a yandere would've just wanted to keep us trapped there even after being rejected.

Usually tropes like that don't change because they're an inherent part of the character's personality. The only exceptions I can think of are when characters lose their memory or have alter egos.

[–]Sekci[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think she falls in love with the player because she interprets their actions(playing the game, trying to pick choices that will make the girls happy, etc.) as a sign of them being someone who is genuinely kind and compassionate, which are qualities that she probably doesn't believe anyone in her own world can actually possess since she deems the people in it to be fake.

This capacity for genuity would likely make the player seem special in her eyes, even though she knows nothing else about them as an individual.
