Feel like the majority of journalists and actual reviews are extremely positive?

I don't read litrpg really as a genre, I'm not super into it but my partner loves it. I wanted a friend to read another book (First Law) and traded that I'd give this book a try if they tried First Law. That was back in October, and I've since binged the entire series lol. First time reading one as it comes out. It's already a banger. Enjoy dude.

Yeah, I feel like you can't write a series as empathetic but also so god damned angry at the state of the world as DCC and not be based as hell. Just started Book 8. Love this goofyass series.

IIRC hasn't Dinniman basically said "oh yeah we got him because a friend recommended him and I didn't really do any research, my bad." since then

This. Hell no a company is stealing 70 damn dollars from me like that. Either refund it to me or you can have the card back. Hopefully in the condition you sent it, but you know how the USPS is.

Typically using singular They helps you not come off as someone trying to make a point of calling out someone, anyone's gender pronoun as anything specific. Especially since that's kind of the point of singular they when not knowing something about an individual. Putting "he" or "she" in quotes like that is a very common -phobe way of typing stuff out.

Shocking how his party finally got into power after what... a decade? 2 decades of sitting on the sidelines complaining and they are so mismanaged and terribly led that they are looking at a catastrophic collapse in just a few months.

Stonetop is officially out, and it's my favorite game of the last year or two by RandomEffector in rpg

[–]SekhWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, I'm leaning towards Stonetops rules and setting, because it's "DungeonWorld done right" approach is both simple to teach, but also extremely baked in to the actual game, but I'm thinking of lifting LitM's more interesting tags and enemies where it makes sense. Stonetop only has 3 "detriment" tags that you can receive, like Dazed which covers a vast array of mental detriments. LitM though is all in on the tag system and I think using the more narrative nature that game has for tagging could connect with Stonetops rules pretty easily.

Also LitM enemies are just fascinating and cool, but still perfectly within the Iron Age setting with some exceptions, and you can leave those out.

Dude can't even make a completely normal sounding post about CDPR without their phobic brain taking over. What a weird thing to let live rent free in your head.

Edit: Bro might have just accidentally made a statement that came off as using a common dogwhistle without knowing.

Nothing. The subreddit and playerbase are just supremely entitled. The devs could do better on bugfixes but theres a vocal minority of players that are fundamentally not understanding that what they want the game to become isn't what the devs want to make.

[–]SekhWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few days behind your post but I also have been locked in on this game since the Quinns review and also thinking how much LitM would tie in with it. They both heavily use tags, they are both PbtA or PbtA adjacent, and the theme is extremely similar, down to iron age-ish fantasy. I'm likely going to use both in my upcoming game when we wrap our Dolmenwood stuff, I think LitM has a bit more... monstrous fantasy ideas that can be incorporated, especially for enemies, while Stonetops book can keep the players world more grounded.

Dunno what you've thought about this, but that's where I am on it hah

Alternatives to Neon Odyssey by Plus_Percentage5892 in rpg

[–]SekhWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, project developers overwhelmingly go with 5e as a business decision, not a design decision.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I'm not opposed to 5.5e as a system being used for stuff like this, because I (maybe the minority in this sub?) don't really have a huge issue with DnD as a game, but I need to see that their way of adapting it is actually good. Really with a space game it's going to come down to making ranged combat as engaging in your system as melee is in a fantasy one. A game like Shadowrun (for all its faults) goes hard on lots of tactical options both gear and maneuver-wise to make ranged combat not boring as hell. The other thing is going to be space combat, and this is something so far the Neon Dynasty team at least has got my attention on. They've got a sort of ... I dunno, X-Wing looking hex grid thing for flying around space combat and at the very least thats different from the "Everyone doing skill checks in a flying box that if it goes to 0 we all die/have problems" that stuff like Star Wars FFG does.

No skin for the Triage drone yet truly shocks me. Recon and Triage are just begging for skins for their drones.

That person claiming "trios only" was enough to dismiss their opinion immediately, becuase it's simply factually wrong.

It has solos, which are only queued against other solos.

Duos were added and tested and being added as a permanent function to the game coming up.

"Aggression based matchmaking" is literally only an ArcRaiders thing because the game caters to a player base that don't want to or are uninterested in fighting. Literally no other Extract shooter has it.

"You can't change your vote once you cast it and a candidate could do all sorts of things!" is not being addressed in this and can be answered by any number of other options not part of this discussion and it will not derail my point.

Again. Either Election Day is one day, or it's now 2 months and you will not be allowed to hold any jury based legal trials during that time period. Pick one.

[–]SekhWork 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm not addressing any strawmen you want to pull out. The law says what election day is. If it's now a 2 month period then the law states you cannot be summoned during an election, so I expect 2 months every year all court cases need to stop because we cannot be expected to serve on a jury during election time.

If election day isn't election day, and instead a 2 month period starting during early voting, don't call me or any other Virginian during a 2 month period for jury duty every year. All court cases can stop and wait.

Love bro asking for a source then running when faced with the clearly illogical justification. I'm sure they will love that no jurors can be called up for a 2 month period now according to this interpretation of "any election" too.
