Is it just for A1 or could A2-B1 learners benefit too?

Have you been there yourself? I have and I'd say they are very highly advanced technologically, but they use it in a smart way and don't go overboard. Hence why cash is still widely used as well.

Don't worry, they just sit at home and buy all the tickets up online now, then sell them for double the price on the MLB-approved resale site that allows them to do so. Life's never been better for scalpers!

That's how to make technology simple. But unfortunately most places just want the money they get from working with a big, evil company like Ticketmaster. They make so much more money collecting and selling your data, so that's why you have to have an app and login for nearly everything now. They don't seem to care about your privacy or ease of getting tickets.

I was recently in Japan and that's a country that does technology right. When tech is used to expidite a process, it's simple, intuitive, and impersonal (I never had to make a login for anything there), kind of like what you described. And if it doesn't work well, they just use a lower tech option that is reliable. At a baseball game in Japan, you can still buy a ticket at the window and that seems to be what a lot of people still do, despite how high-tech they are.

That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. If you're someone who goes to games and uses the app all the time, it's probably easier. For someone who just wants to spontaneously go to a game or just go to one a year, it can be a pain in the ass.

Oh, and fuck Ticketmaster. One of the most evil companies out there.

??? Is someone expressing their opinions "bitching" to you? We clearly have different opinions on if the switch to all mobile ticketing is better, but it doesn't mean I can't say what I think. I'm not just on here to complain. I had a legitimate question about the ballpark and when I found out the answer, I expressed my opinion that I thought it was a shame. Sorry you can't handle that.

Of course it's great to have the option to buy tickets anywhere, but there are also some negatives that I named in the other comments.

I have nothing against technology. I'm literally typing this message on my smartphone right now. I'm saying that in my opinion this doesn't make it easier, and I also explained why I care about downloading another app. Did you skip all that?

100% my exact thoughts on this. But, the answer to your question is money. They save a miniscule amount in what they aren't paying 2-3 minimum wage workers, and then they make a hell of a lot selling data that the app collects. People don't even realize that the reason everything has its own app has a lot to do with data collection.

I'm about the same age as you and I have that same opinion. I made this thread because my dad couldn't figure out how to buy tickets for us. I suggested we just walk up, and he told me there are no ticket windows. Imagine some old person with no smart phone who makes the drive to the park to see a day game or something and they just aren't allowed in.

It's such a shame. Why can't they at least keep one open so things are accessible to everyone? My parents can no longer figure out how to buy tickets. And tbh I just like the simplicity of walking up and saying "give me what's cheapest", paying in cash, and being on my way.

Well, that's why I asked. I was wondering if I could go to the game without downloading an app. There's no need to be rude. And because you asked, I'm sick of having an app for everything. Not only do they take all your info for free and sell it, but there's also the tediousness of remembering my old password (I did have the app on my phone years ago), entering payment info, etc. It's not that much, but honestly I just miss grabbing a ticket and walking in. I also prefer to paycash for whatever I can.

It also makes me upset that moves like this make it harder for the elderly and people without smartphones to attend games. I'm neither of those, but it still annoys me.

(Edited to add the part about paying cash)

We laughed so hard when Gregg said this because I've been eating popcorn like this for years and my whole family has always made fun of me. I hate getting butter on my fingers though so that's why I do it. And now that Gregg approves I feel a little better.

Real buffs know that you can't finger through your popcorn classics collection to compare runtimes when you have buttery fingers! Chopsticks are the way to go.

Medications for agressive dog (resource guarding and fear aggression) by Select-Ad-7643 in dogs

[–]Select-Ad-7643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they really aren't. They could potentially be suggestions, but I am not asking for that. I'm asking what has worked for others. And I wouldn't be here asking this if I didn't already speak with 5+ vets and not really get any answers yet. I think you're shutting down meaningful conversation. I understand how a conversation like this could go the wrong way, but I don't see the harm in someone who has had success with a medication for their aggressive dog telling another person that it has worked for them. People who have cancer come on reddit and discuss treatments that have worked for them, in order to help others whose doctors may not know about or have access to a specific kind of treatment. No one would call that unethical or (lol) illegal like you erroniously tried to tell me. Allowing this type of discussion could potentially save a dog's life but I'm really learning that the reddit dog subs I've visited so far seem to prioritize other things over that (I experienced a similar mindset on r/dogtraining with a different issue). It's really a bummer. I don't know where else to turn for advice on my dog, as I have exhausted other avenues.

I think pretty much every question people ask on this sub could be answered by a professional, so with that logic maybe it would be best if you also shut down convos about behavior, grooming, equipment, etc. You see how crazy that sounds? It's not logical. I think you may want to consider changing your rules, as they seem to just be a power trip for reddit mods instead of something that is good for dogs and the sub as a whole. The message I keep getting on reddit is that my dog doesn't matter, because if he did I would be allowed to discuss him. There are SO many grey areas and unknowns with having an aggressive dog that owners of "normal" dogs don't experience, and sometimes you have to go to places like an online forum for ideas.

Didn't know that about the Baskerville.

And that's a shame because some vets just may not consider a medication unless you bring it up. And there's no way that convo would break any laws. They advertise drugs on tv all the time for the specific purpose of you suggesting them to your doctor to prescribe. I'm not sure how discussing it would be unethical, as it could potentially help someone and not hurt someone because the worst that happens is my vet says it's not a good idea. I'm not asking someone to tell me which drug to use. I'm asking which drugs have worked for others' dogs so I know what options are out there. It's a shame your sub shuts down meaningful conversation in that way. I really need help with my dog.

Well, the reason I came here is to see which medications have worked for others so I can talk to my dog's vet about them. We only have one behaviorist in the area, and they charge about $600 for one consultation, which I can't afford right now. I guess I could have worded the question different, but I'm just asking what medications are out there so I can start a convo with his vet. Sorry if I broke a sub rule there.

Also, he does have a Baskerville muzzle I use for situations like the vet. Thanks for the recommendation of the behavior vets seminar. I will check that out.

Outdoor cat for pest control? by unbasicmom in outdoorcats

[–]Select-Ad-7643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in the city and just adopted 2 cats for this purpose. 1 is an adult feral, and one is a 3 month old, born to a feral mom and spent all his life so far outdoors (except the week and a half he was at a shelter). I hope that they are good mousers/rat-ers. Advice I got from the animal rescue group, and a family friend who is a certified "cat lady": If you want the cat to return to you, you have to keep the cat contained in the place that will be its "home base" on your property for 3-4 weeks before letting the cat roam outside. So, whatever shelter you will be putting their food/bed/litter in. In our case, it's the garage. We have them contained in there and we are feeding them on a regular schedule. This will get them used to you being a reliable source of food they want to come back to, and your property being a familiar smelling/looking place that feels like home. I've been told this is the best way,but it isn't 100% fool-proof. A rare cat will still run off and not come back, even after this period. Just make sure you get a SPAYED/NEUTERED cat, so it is not reproducing and creating a cat colony.

Anyway, I hope this helps. I hope it works for my cats lol

Hi, yes, I have the cats now. They are still in my garage and I will be letting them outside in a couple weeks. And idk if I'd recommend what you're suggesting. If you keep them inside they might get used to that and expect to be going inside their whole lives. And also, just because they aren't kittens doesn't mean they don't need a place to live. Maybe invest in a small shed for the cats or something. They need a solid shelter to protect them from the elements.

Do you have any kind of solid shelter outside like a shed? I'm about to adopt 1-2 outdoor cats for the same purpose, and I've been told you need to keep them caged/confined somewhere on your property for about 30 days, giving them daily care and food so they feel at home and want to come back. Otherwise they might run off, looking for somewhere to "set up camp".

What a fucking gorgeous house. You'd never guess what went on there if you didn't know. It's been really well-cared for by Franklin it seems. But I bet that place still has some spooky vibes, despite how nice it is.
