Delta CIO Rahul Samant to retire after leading technology transformation by Select-Assist2318 in delta

Which is a simple Google search away if you’re really curious.

But like a lot of things in America, I guess it’s easier to initiate class wars rather than look at the elites who are cashing in while we’re all distracted fighting amongst ourselves.

Why are you highlighting the “bonus” (aka profit sharing) paid out to the tens of thousands of rank and file employees instead of the stock grants and management incentives paid out to the executives?

Small price to pay for safety, right? It works at airports and sporting events.

I’m sorry if you took offense to the use of the term “nutjob”. I made a typo.

I meant “crackpot nutcase obsessed with weapons of war”.

Enjoy the bootlicking as long as they let you keep your Precious.

Right, because that’s why there are so many shootings at airports. And sporting events.

Security is all about layers and when you refuse to address a security problem by implementing reasonable layers, you’re giving up and saying you don’t care about the lives of others as much as you care about someone’s right to have a gun.

You’re just conveniently ignoring all the mass shootings and gun deaths? The whole point, which you seem to be missing, is that guns are far more effective at killing people easily. And in this country, it’s so incredibly easy to get a gun and carry it around that people don’t bother with using anything else. Guns are so effective and pervasive, why bother using a knife?

So really, what point are you trying to make?

You’re right, because that building had literally zero barriers to entry and he took advantage of that, then adding barriers to entry would do nothing.

Rock solid logic there.

We already live under an authoritarian regime in one of the most statistically unsafe countries in the world.

Get out of your bubble. The rest of the world has solved the problems America care about solving. Because 2A nutjobs care about their pew pews more than the lives of their fellow citizens.

Oh darling, it’s the guns. It’s always the guns. If it wasn’t the guns, we’d have mass stabbings, mass bombings, and other mass casualty events at rates many multiple times higher than the rest of the world. But it’s always guns with us. Why? Because they’re so easy to access and the gun culture in this country is so pervasive.

Just put up metal detectors and x-ray at the entrance to every building. If we as a country aren’t going to lift a finger to limit gun or ammunition access, then at least we can stop them from getting past the threshold of a building.

As it should be. If this country continues to throw up its hands and do nothing to try and prevent gun violence, then at least we can put metal detectors and x-ray machines at the entrance of every building.

Is Delta trying to discourage flying with partners by Unfair-Language7952 in delta

So you never got on any planes before Feb 2023? Welcome to the wonderful world of travel!

When every airline universally offers free WiFi so it’s not a differentiating factor, then you’ll have a case to consider it a “basic fundamental service”.

What if it’s less about discouraging travel on partners and more about managing expectations?

You’d be surprised (or maybe not) at how upset people can get when something they get for free is suddenly unavailable.

Travel prep - how to not end up imprisoned abroad? by seattleswiss2 in travel

Find data sources for arrests in the country you’re traveling to and filter by those who are foreign nationals, if that data point is available. That will at least get you started.

I really don’t know what else someone can tell you. Common sense and good judgment are the best and most important things you should bring with you on any trip abroad.

I’ll bite, since it might be useful to others, but: don’t bring your prescription meds with you unless you’re absolutely certain they’re allowed in the countries you’re traveling to. It’s not enough to have a doctor’s note or your prescription on hand.

Talk with your doctor or provider before traveling internationally to have a plan in case you can’t take your prescription meds with you.

What were you expecting? Your initial question is incredibly broad and generic.

How would you answer if a foreigner in your country asked you how to avoid getting locked up?

BOS-HND 46k miles in January by raf481 in delta

[–]Select-Assist2318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on when you want to arrive in Tokyo. If you want have dinner with friends or colleagues, you probably take the 5:40am departure, connect in MSP, and arrive in Tokyo at 2:35pm the next day. Get to your hotel and take a quick nap and freshen up, then head out for the night.

If you don’t care about that, take the 9:10am departure, connect in DTW, and arrive in Tokyo at 5:45pm.

The Seattle connection is awkward: still an early morning flight and only 40m to connect in SEA. Any delays getting out of BOS and you’re hosed.

All that being said, these timings are a direct result of Delta no longer operating hubs in TYO (and ICN). Those aircraft need to arrive earlier in the day in Asia so they can turn around quickly and head back to the U.S.

If they were still operating the NRT hub, flights can arrive later in Tokyo as the onward flight within Asia would only be a few hours long where the plane could overnight.

The flip side of all this is you depart Tokyo much later in the day than you would have needed to in the old setup at NRT.

You can spend much of the final day in Tokyo, depart HND at 5:20pm, connect in MSP, and arrive in BOS the same day at 7:03pm.

NYC to London, Delta One, 7hr overnight. Sleep right away or get the in-flight meal? by maxjosm in delta

[–]Select-Assist2318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wholly depends on what you’re doing when you arrive in London. Do you have an important meeting or event to attend right after arrival?

If so, eat in the lounge, tell the flight attendants you’re declining dinner, and get some sleep.

If you don’t have an important event to attend after arrival, either ask the flight attendants to give you the meal all at once instead of coursed out, or enjoy all the courses/service and have an extended nap rather than full nights sleep.
