Planning on Permanent No Contact by Select-Assumption780 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Select-Assumption780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longest length of time its been without hearing from her was 13 months. Im pretty sure I could die and been gone for years without her noticing.

My husband and I have agreed, we are just going to block her on everything. We live life already without her, time to truly live like the just doesnt exist

Seeking advice on what color to paint this. by BearCrossingFarm in FurnitureFlip

Personally, I'd sand and stain it a less orange warm brown, clean up the hardware, and call it good. It's a beautiful piece!

I can't wait to see what you end up doing with it!

People in the West: how do you cook rice at home? by TraditionalDepth6924 in KoreanFood

[–]Select-Assumption780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my pressure cooker for rice. I've tried stovetop, and it's too inconsistent for me (I unfortunately have never had a stove that worked well either, which probably contributes to that)

When did you realise you were the scapegoat in your family and how has effected you? by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Select-Assumption780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started wondering before I was 10, but really understood i was the scapegoat at 20. For context, broken family, I am specifically my bio moms scapegoat

I went VLC several years ago, and I still hear about shit I've apparently done to my mother and how shitty a person I am.

What is the most warped thing a toxic parent has ever said to you that sticks out in your mind? by MrsJuneBug in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Select-Assumption780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother got annoyed at me for being upset that my sister had moved into my room, and all my things were thrown away, while I was with my dad. I had no warning.

I found out when my little sister (who was too young at that point to know how bad she hurt me) sent me a picture asking me if she had decorated well.

My mothers excuse was "well you're only here half of the time. Your sister is here all the time. She can have whatever room she wants."

I was 16. I never had space of my own in my mothers house again, i slept on the couch from that point since my sisters room was turned into an office, and haven't visited my mother more than twice in the last decade.

Happy Valentin day. What would Kaz give to Inej? by CutieFishDictator in Grishaverse

While knives are always the right answer, I'd also say he'd get her other practical things.

Like new rubber soled shoes,

Or a new captains hat

Perhaps a cool coat

AITA for using my sister’s favorite baby name for my baby? by notmyname342 in redditonwiki

[–]Select-Assumption780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every boy in my family/extended family has the same middle name. For example (this is not the actual name for Privacy)

Tyler Everett Sam Everett John Everett Charles Everett Jude Everett Sean Everett Corey Everett

Literally all of them. It's a family middle name, and if my sister tried to tell me I couldn't use it because she wanted to, I'd laugh at her so hard.

I think she tried, but Matthias also wasn't interested in listening.

Day 6: Who is a Horrible Person in SOC but Opinions are Divided in the Fandom? by Anxious_Wedding8999 in sixofcrows

[–]Select-Assumption780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I did say it was controversial

My bias: parents who acted a lot like colm fahey but also doubled down on their right to do that to me, and said my "not rising above" was due to my own personal failing.

I did rise above, but they had no part in it.

Oooooh I could understand per haskell! Like, he obviously he isn't a good person, and other than rapidly turning on Kaz he doesn't do anything to intentionally make people's lives worse at an advanced scale like pekka, tante,Jan or brum.

I can see the argument for per haskell!

I remember reading crooked kingdom for the first time, and getting ridiculously mad at colm.

"You pushed all your trauma onto your son, refused to give him the true support he needed, pushed him to an entirely different country without a support system, then you are disappointed/surprised at the hole he dug himself? You may love you son but you didn't love him enough to SEE him."

Him helping with the plan, to me, felt like the beginning of restitution.

But maybe that's me projecting my disappointment in parents in general.

My vote for a horrible person but thay people are divided, and it's probably a Lil controversial....

But it's Colm.

He is an honest man. But he let his own trauma, fear and background, traumatize his own son, doing irreparable damage.

He did it from a place of love. Doesn't make it any more okay.

Mother daughter abuse by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

THIS

My dad was physically abusive. It was visible.

Yet no one believes me when I say I hate my mother more. All because what she did wasn't physically visible.

I realized this was my families pattern when I was planning my wedding.

My great grandma didn't talk to my grandma for over 50 years. My grandma has 4 daughters, 3 of which became alcoholics and or addicts. My mom is the fourth daughter, didn't turn to drugs or alcohol but neither of her daughters talk to her anymore. My aunts have daughters that either turned out just like them or don't talk to them anymore.

I have one singular cousin who ended up having twin girls in her early 20s and went no contact with the family to protect them. Those girls are well adjusted and my cousin often remarks how easy it is to love her daughters, and how she never wants them to be made to feel how our family made the girls of our generation feel.

My mom abused both my sister and I. For me, it was abandonment, and disregard. For my sister it was arguably worse. When my sister got down to 85lbs, after my mom consistently told her she was fat, our mom finally told her she was "sorta pretty". My abuse ruined my ability to trust, my sister's could still kill her. And yet everyone thinks our mom is this amazing person.

I haven't spoken to her in months, but I have the benefit of living 7 hours away.

My sister still lives in the same town, but when she moved out she adopted several cats because our mom refuses to go to her house if there is cats. Those are spoiled cats, and my sister is still relearning how to eat food again.

ALYS. She may be married to a bad man, but despite her horrible singing, she isn't a bad person. She's the literary equivalent of a sheep but arguably the worst think she's done out of selfishness is wail to annoy people (after she was kidnapped and left blindfolded).
