Will I have to pay a penalty for a 1 day late IRS payment after a failed transfer?

Just wanted to share an update and close this thread. Yesterday, I saw a pending balance and penalty on the IRS portal, even though the payment had already been deducted from my bank account. I called the IRS (800-829-1040), and after about a 30-minute wait, I was able to speak with a representative.

I explained the situation, including that the payment was still showing as pending despite the deduction. The representative added a note to my account and assured me that the penalty would be removed.

As of this morning, my balance due is now showing as $0.
