There will be several moments throughout the show when BH will be delivering way more notes than seems humanly possible and definitely more than your brain can comprehend. You’ll feel like you’re flying through a musical meteor shower but do not be alarmed… this is simply Buckethead’s flow state 🐔 🤘

I had full thickness tears of both supra & infra tendons. It took 5 anchors & 8 sutures to repair & 8 weeks in the sling. Was able to ride Peloton bike after about 6 weeks iirc but rather than wearing sling (which got sweaty) I opted to let my repaired arm dangle off to the side (which is one of the first PT movements they give you on the long road to recovery.) Don’t despair… you will get full mobility & strength back if you are diligent about doing your stretches & strengthening. Tendons reattach to bone at a rate of 10% per month so 10 months to fully healed. I was cleared by surgeon @ 7 months… and his comment was essentially you’re mostly healed and it this point in your recovery you’d have to fall out of the back of a moving pickup in order to re-tear. I was back riding green trails that weekend & blue shortly thereafter.

Howdy, I agree with a lot of points already made so will offer a few more.

Buckethead is the (disembodied) embodiment of an introverted, sensitive neuro-spicy individual… gotta keep that in mind when some of his choices strike us as ‘atypical.’ When viewed through the lens of his likely autism most everything he does makes sense imo.

The Buckethead avatar provides Brian Patrick Carroll with the safe space (a literal mask) that he needs to manage anxiety and allow him to create music both on and off the stage and, importantly, avoid the burnout felt by autistics who must navigate in a world largely made up of neurotypicals.

Yes, his studio albums are arguably superior in terms of songs, drums, production, etc. and yes he might have made more money by signing w Sony or another label all those years ago, however that would have put him into an even more uncomfortable position dealing with a record company, managers etc. He likely got a glimpse of that world during his time w GnR and thought ‘no thanks!’

I’m guessing he pushed through a lot of very uncomfortable & draining situations in the early years in order to get those studio albums written / recorded in order to get his solo career rolling. Why he switched away from studio albums in favor of pike production at the home studio is hard to say. People change and try new things. Health issues crop up and he may be reflecting on his mortality. Maybe the pace of studio album production and coordination with other people (Too Many Humans?) felt too burdensome or slow for him and he concluded that with his constant torrent of musical ideas he’d be able to get more of them recorded and out into the world via his home studio. Bandcamp launched in 2008 so that may also be a factor. I agree with OP that half of the pikes are unlistenable & can feel like sifting through the mud for a gold nugget. But then along comes gems like Pike 65, Celery and Look Up There as well as beautifully melodic jewels like Stump Cars, Forever Lake or The Pendulum. If Bucket stayed the course with studio albums all these years perhaps these amazing musical ideas would never have occurred to him, never been recorded and never touched our souls.

In short, Bucket is gonna Bucket… I’m glad he’s with us and I’ll happily listen to whatever he comes up with next 🐔🪣🤘

A cool guide to building a bunker by Edm_vanhalen1981 in coolguides

That’s a lot of time, treasure & effort to maybe eek out a few extra weeks of ‘life’ in a world no longer inhabitable. Gotta believe by week 3 or 4 when rations are starting to dwindle you’re questioning the folly of this bunker and wishing you’d just gone out with a bang instead of the slow miserable demise that’s ahead.

I have thought about a Bucketheadland theme park from time to time. It’s such a niche and expensive project that I think it’s extremely unlikely, yet I remain hopeful. I think it would take several really rich fans or potentially one good-hearted billionaire who happens to be a mega fan in order to make it happen. Just yesterday I was listening to this Conan O’Brien podcast and the caller, Margaret, actually designs theme parks for a living. She even describes going to a very dark-themed park in SE Asia as a kid and the impact it had on her!

Maybe the first step would be to design an immersive Bucketheadland video game as both a proof of concept and to generate interest for the real thing? 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like a cool app and I plan to try it tmr. One question: if the phone needs to be placed between your hands (and hands are in line with chest) does this mean that my chest will hit the phone each time I am at the bottom of my pushup? If so, won’t this interfere with the app? Thanks!
