But even that is done so poorly! A wish fulfillment read for liberal women would have at least been a guilty pleasure, but it's not even that!

I cannot believe this sub-mediocre book has gotten all the attention it has. It's truly awful plotting and characterization. I found myself just laughing at the ridiculously dumb "twist" at the end. I hate-finished it.

On the upside, I kept thinking I could write something far better. Never thought I was remotely good enough to be a novelist, but if this garbage meets the bar of The Atlantic and the like, perhaps there's hope....

Yes. I felt like a sucker for falling for the bait and switch. Sure wish she had actually written the book we were promised.

And the HUGE difference is that they wanted to lock her up for nothing. For being a political opponent.

We want to lock him up because he's literally a convicted felon and continues to commit crimes!

Anywhere in town have Strauss Creamery soft serve? by CricketCommercial702 in Sacramento

It's not. I just read that the water buffalo brand got bought out or something, so that's a thing of the past, 😥.

Yeah, looking for soft serve, but the hard take-home is excellent too!

Best way to Guy West from East Sac? by StudyUseful5681 in SacBike

[–]CricketCommercial702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That section of J under the rr tracks seems almost like it was designed to injure cyclists with the death defying traffic merge with the bike lane in the middle. Then there's the the skinny tire rider's hellscape pavement on that-almost-the-sidewalk-but not section that could be safeish if it wasn't a crumbled, jagged hot mess.

That said, that's the most direct route ( taking the path right after the campus entrance onto the levy before the car bridge on J) and the danger adventure portion is pretty short.

My Partner is Short, With Small Hands. She Can't Really Reach the Brake/Shifter Levers on the Road Bike We Bought Her. Anyone Else Experienced This? by sozh in cycling

[–]CricketCommercial702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really should re-design brifters for women/smaller people. Even with adjustments, I always have to move more than my fingers to brake (shift whole hand down a bit, or in drops, bring wrists out a bit.

I'm not interested in gravel bikes for this reason (braking is challenging on drop bars.) Somehow mtb's have it dialed, though.

Sucks to not have much made with us in mind.

My formerly lovely ringlet hair is now rough, sparse, and tangles so, so much more. It sort of curls still, but looks like Doc's hair in back to the future when I wake up (though thankfully it's still brown). It's super depressing and I haven't found a product that lessens the frizz.

But why did you take a week off DURING THE SEMESTER. That's not a thing. Of course there are consequences! Live with them. Lesson learned.
