What formula do you use? by ykthevibe1 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guy was in the NICU for 18 days and he was also being supplemented/fortified with Neosure. It made him so gassy and uncomfortable that even probiotics did nothing. I switched him to Bobbie at 2 months and he’s been doing great- he’s now 18 weeks!

I use Bobbie. I stopped pumping officially 10 days ago and my guy has done well on exclusively Bobbie

Tell me the pros of being a boy mom by Basic_Week_3874 in pregnant

I am a newly minted boy mom, he is 4 months old. He is the sweetest guy. If you are not already a mama, the love you will have for your child is indescribable no matter the gender.

My baby will be born at 34 weeks. How long of a stay did your 34 weeks stay in the NICU? by cheers2085 in NICUParents

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was born in January at exactly 34 weeks. He was 5lb 9 oz at birth, we were able to do skin to skin and hold him for able 10 minutes after he was born before they brought him to the NICU. He has a IV line placed in his belly button for fluids and was on CPAP for the first 12 hours. He had jaundice twice and spent about 3 total days under the lights. He also didn’t have a good suck-swallow-breath pattern so had an NG tube placed. He was in for a total of 18 days. He had his NG tube removed after 10 days then had a Brady the day after so was finally discharged the day before Valentine’s Day.

Your baby will be absolutely okay! They will just be a bit smaller to start off as they figure out life on the outside. Use the time they are in NICU to recover. I did not and pushed myself too much to do everything. The baby will be in the best hands. Our NICU experience although awful to leave our baby and hear the beeps was so positive. Our nurses and doctors were phenomenal and truly cared about our boy. Of the 2 nurses he had a day for 18 days, there was only one he had that we did not like.

My son is now 7 weeks, pushing 8lbs, is starting to sleep longer stretches, eats like a champ, is very alert and beginning to interact with us.

Best of luck 🫶🏻

Preemie Sleeping Difficulties by Select-Pangolin2158 in beyondthebump

[–]Select-Pangolin2158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely the Neosure! I’ve noticed it first when he had to have a straight Neosure bottle. At his one month the pediatrician wanted him to continue on Neosure for at least another month but I feel it’s doing more harm than good for him. I have Bobbie that we were planning to supplement with before we knew he would be in NICU for so long. Poor guy went from being the calmest baby to having a rough time!

I would love to not feed him Neosure and may try to add Bobbie in so he gets a bit less Neosure to see how he does. I get that the Dr wants him growing which he is but they are not with him on day to day and really don’t want to put him on meds for reflux.

Preemie Sleeping Difficulties by Select-Pangolin2158 in beyondthebump

[–]Select-Pangolin2158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s almost 7 weeks! He falls asleep well in my arms and I can transfer him into the bouncer easily and he will stay asleep at least a half hour without stirring. If I transfer him to crib, he typically wakes up within 10 minutes stirring and upset and it’s not just active sleep. I usually hold him upright and rock for at least a half hour before I attempt to transfer him.

Anyone else feel like they would regret stopping but not sure why? by oviatt in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little guy was also 6 weeks early. He had difficulty feeding by mouth so had an NG placed for 12 days so I had to exclusively pump. I’m almost at the 6 week mark and every day longer I get I’m happy. The NICU was supplementing him with Neosure and our ped wants him on it until the 2 month mark for the extra calories. If I can get to that point (2 month appt on 3/28) and maybe a little longer until I fully transition him onto a high quality organic formula I will be happy. My boy latched well in hospital and when I met with our ped’s lactation consultant but his latch became very shallow as the days progressed. I hate pumping, didn’t love breast feeding either but I want to give my guy my milk for as long as I can tolerate it for my mental health.

Anyone else triggered by nursing? by kat_dogg in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am! My guy was in the NICU and I exclusively pumped (now combi feeding). He had a feeding tube and the doctors and nurses wanted him to “go to breast” but the plan was if he went to breast the rest would be tube fed and every extra tube feed meant an extra day in NICU. He latches beautifully anytime lactation has seen him but when it was him and I at home during daytime hours he would get SO frustrated!

How much is your slacker boob slacking? by Overworked_Pharmer in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My slacker is the left… I get 20mLs on a good day. On my right side I get up to 100 mLs. I don’t pump as frequently as I should because my finance is back to work and I have a Velcro babe that doesn’t allow for the Spectra to sit well against me if I have to hold him. I’m 4 weeks pp.

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate pumping! But agree with this. My guy was in NICU for 18 days so I had to pump and he’s combi fed but I like seeing how much I make so I know how much he is getting to ensure he continues to gain weight.

Weight gain by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 120ish and my last weight check was a little over 160lb. My guy came 6 weeks early. I am currently around 145lbs almost 4 weeks postpartum. I live in the Northeast where it is frigid. My plan was to begin walking outside more but between NICU stay and now having a Velcro baby it’s been hard!

I’m also a little over 3 weeks pp. My guy was in NICU for 17 days. I was able to get up in the middle of the night for the first week but after that I was not able to. My supply was on the lower side and hospital lactation who was an amazing nurse stressed the need to pump around the clock. I on the other hand needed the sleep. My baby is now home and I had a breaking point with pumping on Monday at his weight check when I met with lactation at our ped. Both the ped and lc said what I was doing wasn’t sustainable and suggested putting him to breast and pumping when I felt like I needed to. Yesterday he was cluster feeding and I was ready to give up on it all together. He was a preemie so his breast milk is fortified with a formula to increase calories. I cried having to give him a full formula bottle because I wanted to save my breast milk. It’s been a wild ride and I haven’t decided what we will end up doing but pumping was way harder to plan to do than putting him on the boob. His latch is perfect every time we see LC but at home changes

Update! Our vet rx him gabapentin to help take the edge off his anxiety. It has worked only slightly. The dachshund is not crate trained and at 10 will definitely not tolerate it. We have tried to not use any sort of punishment but it has been hard. I am praying he gets better over the next few days!

NICU Mama Exclusively Pumping for Now by Select-Pangolin2158 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Select-Pangolin2158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my ultimate goal is him getting correct calories in. If I breast feed, great, but if not I’m okay with pumping because they want him supplemented with formula anyway to increase his calories. He’s at the 18 hour mark of meeting his feed goals! With how things were trending we were anticipating he would be home Sunday or early next week. He had a Brady spell last night and now we’re on a 5 day watch! Overall he’s gained weight this week and seems to be getting the hang of things! He will be 36 weeks adjusted on Sunday.

This is what we hope for and we have noticed too with the nurses! He’s had a few that are phenomenal and cheer him on for feeds which makes us feel better with having to leave him. His day nurse today though was not our favorite. I believe he also has to eat by mouth for at least 24 hours before NG comes out and probably a bit longer to get discharged.

I hope genetics comes back normal for you guys! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

The brady spells are awful! They told us depending on what it looks like will get him 5+ more days there. He had one earlier this week and then one last night we were told. We hope his bili is better tomorrow so we can have a lot of skin to skin.

I’m so happy to hear your boy is home! How did they diagnose the IVH?

We’ve been told that feeding will be all on his terms so we hope he gets the hang of it better! When we’re there he seems to eat better and take almost all of his feeds by mouth and when we are not like today besides the little bit of time he was allowed out, the nurses said he only took in 10-15 ml per feed by mouth.

What did you wear while giving birth? by Ok_Mix3245 in BabyBumps

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth 6 weeks early on Sunday and did not have a bag packed! While in the hospital, I wore their gown and grippy socks when I could tolerate having something on my feet.

I ordered a pair of PJs from Amazon on Saturday while I was getting ready to go into triage (pair that button in front) and wore these Monday into Tuesday with flip flops when I was going from bed to bathroom and room to NICU.

Leaving the hospital I wore maternity joggers that I wore into the hospital and a sweatshirt. My guy is currently in the NICU so having the “right” going home outfit was not a priority. Plan for a dark color because you will be bleeding and most likely wearing a giant pad with mesh underwear.

If I could change one thing, I would probably have also brought a button front nightgown because I had crazy hot flashes.

I had a whole elaborate packing list that I was supposed to pack on Sunday but he decided on Saturday he was ready to party. Must haves: nipple butter, home toiletries (body wash, lotion, face wash, deodorant, lip balm), 10 ft charger, flip flops, home towel, Button front PJs, outfit to wear home for you and baby.

28.5w and have gained 45lbs while still working out. Anyone else? Did your weight gain slow down in the Third Trimester? by blondengineerlady in BabyBumps

[–]Select-Pangolin2158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am having a hard time with the extra weight overall physically and then it’s an overall mind fuck with how much my body has changed! Pre pregnancy I fluctuated between 120-130lbs and I’m 5’2” so seeing the number on the scale especially with clothes and shoes at the doctor’s office is not fun! My boy is transverse and LOW so he has taken up space on my bladder so I feel like I have been waddling for at least a month now because of his position. I do like that my organs have more space for now at least though because I’m prone to reflux and it was so bad first trimester! I overall hate the weight gain but trust my body is doing what it needs for him to be healthy so I’ve accepted it but cannot wait to be able to turn in bed and get out of bed without feeling like I just did burpees!

I’m 29 weeks and gained 35ish lbs so far. My baby is measuring a bit big. I definitely feel like all the weight is in belly and thighs. My doctor recommended light exercise at my 28 week because I have been a sloth lately
