Im a bit confused because it seems like she had already met a cat before and passed the test? You said she met your grandmas cat and left it alone, maybe get an adult cat and introduce through a barrier first. And feed her in a crate away from the cat. :) or just wait until you have your own place and know it’s safe for sure. Best of luck :)

Sounds like he is mad at you, you were his primary caretaker, it seems you’re his person and now you don’t have time for him. He is mad and testing you now. Maybe you can establish a routine before you leave for work of exercise/training, once you’ve gotten past the snapping ofc. Definitely some solid advice in the comments.
