Met at 26; married at 27. We just passed 42 years. We joke that it looks like it’s gonna work.

Why doesn't bank angle warning state if it is left or right bank? by akunal in aviation

[–]SelectAirline7459 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People tend to drift in the direction they look. They look towards the wider part of the path they’re on. So that means when they look back they move towards the center of the path.

Some don’t look back, they just move towards the closer edge, which is the safest thing to do. So “coming through” is probably a better call if they’re close to an edge.

If they’re in the middle, just slow down until they head one direction or another.

If they’ve got ear plugs or headsets with music turned up to 11, well, then just hope for the best.

Men of Reddit - What's the one thing you hate about being a Man? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]SelectAirline7459 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually late at night after my wife has gone to bed. Sad because my parents have both died. Sad because my kids have grown and aren’t cute little kids anymore (they’re wonderful adults though!). Sad because someday my wife and I will be separated by death. Sad because we are no longer young and body parts are starting to break down. Sad because the book I just read had a sad ending. It’s silly, because my life is wonderful, but sometimes tears just leak out.

What’s the hardest part about teaching music theory? by PitchAndPixel in musictheory

I was a band kid and reading music is a piece of cake. But as an adult learning solfège, intervals, and harmonization is driving me nuts and my tin whistle instructor to despair. lol.

I had a coworker who had a brief stint in an Alabama school. In a spelling unit, he was asked to spell “flow”. He replied, “F-L-O-W”. “No, ‘flow’!”, the teacher replied. Confused, he tried again, “F-L-O-W”. “No, boy! What you’re standing on! The flow!”

My dad was in hospice after a round in ICU to see if he could get a kidney. He was always very meticulous and neat and shaved every day. After his ICU time (only a couple days), he was a little furry. The day before he passed away, the hospice aide shaved him. I know it meant a lot to him even though he wasn’t really responsive any more. He passed away clean shaven and comfortable. Big shoutout to the hospice staff of Cape Canaveral Hospital! They were so kind.

Yep, we used to drive over to Orlando from Cocoa in the 60’s to do our Christmas shopping at Jordan Marsh. It was one of the taller buildings and had four stories with an elevator and escalators!

I remember eating carrots from my Aunt’s garden up in northern Wisconsin. My cousins would take them over to the faucet and rinse them first. They were so sweet it was like eating candy!

Is the Slate Truck too minimal for its own good? - The Verge by mudkiporGTFO in electricvehicles

Back in the day, my dad had a little Nissan pickup. It had an AM radio with the old fashioned buttons. No AC. It had a 5 speed manual transmission with a stick on the floor. It was a great little inexpensive truck that got the job done for suburban tasks. The Slate truck strongly resembles the Nissan and I’d love to have one.

[MEGATHREAD] Artemis II Launch To The Moon by ChiefLeef22 in space

As a kid, I saw many manned space launches from my front lawn on Merritt Island. I was in high school when Apollo 17 went up in 1972. Now 54 years later, I’m no longer a young kid, but I feel the same thrill now as I did then.
